The Tigers must have some optimistic expectations in the likes of a Casey Mize, Brant Hurter, Jackson Jobe, Ty Madden, and Tyler Mattison to fill in that starting rotation behind Skubal and Olson.
I have noticed that Nick Pivetta, as well as Spencer Turnbull are still out there available... both younger than Alex Cobb. I don't know if there's still some bitterness between Turnbull and the Tigers, but hey, there's a potential quality value upside for both parties.

I was perturbed to see him go, he just threw a no-hitter with us a couple seasons ago during some really down years. And then he was granted his unconditional release, while he still had plenty in the tank. You better believe there's bad blood between him And the front office.

No reason for the Tigers to be desperate in the free agent market when they're currently sitting on the #1 ranked farm system in the league.

I agree. Whoever signs Bregman is going to have buyer's remorse in a few years. He's on the decline and will be 31 on opening day.

The Tigers have a window to win now given the team success in 2024. Gleyber signing is smart given Gleyber's postseason success and his need to to prove himself for the big contract. The big bad Yankees are deeply flawed for the postseason without Soto and Torres. Exciting times!

Just some advice, pull him in the 7th inning for a defensive replacement. For some reason the ball finds that cement glove he wears, or he makes a throwing error later games blowing leads.

If Minnesota would’ve been average to end the year we wouldn’t even be discussing a playoff window they’re still paying javy they owe Kenta like 15 million bucks I still think we’re two years out

I'm OK with the Tigers not getting Bregman but it's a shame that they haven't been more active this offseason

I guess I'm in the minority, but I'm not a fan of the Tigers signing Bregman. He will be 31 on opening day and is already on the decline. Paying 150 mil or so for a guy who hit .260 and a little over 20 hrs? Jung (if healthy) may quite possibly exceed his numbers next year, and be much cheaper. If Jung gets traded away in this deal, I'll be pissed. Frankly, I wish the Tigers would have spent the money on a solid starting pitcher (not Cobb) or a veteran bullpen arm. The Torres signing I'm kind of mixed on. I like the idea of them picking up a solid bat on the cheap, but why start him at 2nd as awful as he is on the field over Keith? Hopefully that is a temporary move and AJ moves him to DH where he belongs.

I'm completely perplexed by what the Tigers have done - and not done - this off season.
Cobb: Detroit teams already have a history of being perpetually bitten by the injury bug. So by all means sign a guy who's had more surgeries than a bad stunt double! Tiger management must like paying players to rehab!
Torres: Either there's a lot more going on behind the curtain, or Tiger management just wanted to sign the worst defensive player, with a reputation of "dogging it" , that money could buy. Makes ZERO sense to me.
Flaherty: Jack must not want to come back to Detroit. That or Tiger management needs to have their brains replaced with working ones. This guy is a proven stud and was a big part of the Tiger's surging success. So yea, instead of grabbing him while they can, let's gamble on the Cobb thing... smh.
And finally Bregman: I don't think the Tigers ever stood a chance at this guy, but perhaps I'm wrong. He's likely going to Bwoosston, or the Stankees, possibly LA or the spend-happy Mets. I don't see him in the Ol English D, and for me, that might not be such a bad thing. The Tigers are still stuck with 25 mill or the albatross known as Baez. Yea, they definitely need to play the "let's give an aging player a billion dollar salary for 50 million years" game again!
I'm justshaking my head at what I've seen and haven't seen is all. Come on Tigers. You got us all whipped up with hope last season. Don't F it up!
