I remember when I was younger I got very far in the fight before school and I asked my mom to keep my N64 on and when I got home it was still on and I finished the fight. Thank you mom❤️
My brother would get so mad and impatient with me when I would keep using the Super Charge until I ran out of FP. Then when I felt I was ready, I unleashed the Power Bounce, and it didn’t just feel like I dethrone the king, it felt like the chair was thrown out with him.
I remember fighting this boss at home in my pajamas when my mom decided to let me stay home from school.. good times ah.. Wish my life was as simple as it was then..
This music is the perfect music for the second-to-last main boss. It gives the feel of "I'm almost at the end of the game", but it doesn't feel like final boss music. Sorry if it's hard to understand what I mean by that, I'm really bad at putting things into words. It's boss music that makes you feel like you're at the last stretch before the end of the game, and I feel like it accomplishes this very well. Good job, Nintendo. :D By the way, if anybody actually reads this comment, you should try out Paper Mario Insane Mode. It's a mod for this game in which enemies do 2x damage. I recommend it, it's challenging and a lot of fun. (Sorry to advertise, I'm just speaking my mind right now). :3
Dude, what the fuck...? This guy was just stating their love for the game, this boss, and a hard mode mod for people to enjoy, and you just call him autistic and shit... Unless you're replying to someone besides the OP, but otherwise...
Hester Franks I was thinking Articuno as well, since all the other ice legendaries have their own themes, and the legendary birds are pretty much the only legends that don't, save for event legendaries (or "Mythical Pokemon" as they call them nowadays, though it's just a different term for the same thing)
Still one of my favourite games, over ten years since I first played it. I remember renting it at my local video store and just running around and getting into battles on save files other people left; wasn't until a few years later when I was older and started the game from the beginning that I actually understood what to do. Ahhh, memories.
He frozed me a lot... Clearly the boss-attack I most hate in this game alongside Bowser's Invisibility, Tubba Blubba's Heart Ray and those damn purple Koopa Troopa's
As cool and mysterious as the Crystal King is, I always wanted to know more about him, like how we get the story behind the other bosses in the prior chapters. As Mario traverses the Crystal palace, he faces off with illusions and ice based enemies, which alludes to some of the Crystal King's attributes, however doesn't tell much about his motives or why he's at the top of the Crystal Palace, other than to keep the Star Spirit from Mario. Even Goombario's tattle claims he doesn't know "how he took over the Crystal Palace" nor can he tell what he is (yet he knows all of his attacks. Heh, what nifty insight). For me when I first played Paper Mario, I didn't know what to expect at the end of the road, and I guess the devs wanted to keep you on your toes and use your wit, yet the lack of background to the chapter 7 boss makes me wish they put in a little more story telling here. Maybe even confirm if the Crystal King is a duplighost or something way entirely different? That's my biggest question of all.
This guy is definitely deserving of his spot as this game's "penultimate" boss. I swear, it took me a week and a half to finally beat him when I was a kid
Really someone thought sticker star was better than super paper mario? Honestly I think sticker star was one of the worst mario rpg's to date. Its like fucking really oh fuck I'm outta stickers BETTER AVOID EVERY BATTLE! When an rpg is having you try to avoid battles because you have limited stickers thats bullshit, and how about the kameks that turn you're stickers into flip flops then just removes the stickers from you're book later. Its like really? Thats pretty freaking lame. Hell the story of paper mario sticker star is pretty lame too. Bowser came wrecked shit and left with a shiny sticker. FIND HIM AND DEFEAT HIM! Atleast super paper mario had a legit story with some pretty dark moments. The end of the world, mario going to hell, A love interest between Tippi and Count bleck. Plus the music in that game was amazing. The music in sticker star is just.... underwhelming. Plus atleast super paper mario was trying to be different an RPG platformer in a way with health and attack ups and stuff. A really great game in my opinion Like I said the music in the game is amazing. Just look up some of the music. Champion of destruction, bounding through time, all the memory songs are amazing, proof of existance, and lastly the SCARIEST SONG IN EXISTANCE! The rivers Twygz bed. Honestly that song pierced through me and everytime I hear it I just feel uneasy. That song is truly terrifying. I honestly can't remember a song I heard in sticker star that was like "this is a great song". I also hate the sticker idea. Really bad it would have been great if you got stickers after battle or whenever you did and excellent attack you'd get a sticker back but nope. You lose stickers and then you gotta run around and find stickers again to continue battles or run through the level avoiding EVERY ENEMY until you find the boss.
Yeah but there are rumors about intelligent systems (creator of the first 2 paper marios) might make a paper mario rise of shadow. It sounds really fun and you should really look it up sometime.
And some of the songs may be amazing but thousand year door has the best songs...Proof? Doopliss battle theme and Shadow sirens battle theme and sticker star may be terrible but it has some AMAZING music like mizzter blizzard battle and Gooper blooper battle and The music 'Kerstis power' is the most emotional shit ever, it may not have good story and gameplay like super paper mario...but its music is better by a long shot
You know... Kamek the koopa mage in the yoshi's island games that makes the little enemies into big bosses... yea those things... they make your stickers into slippers that do 1 damage and waste your sticker.
Illusionary clones, heals, and a crapton of damage. Yup, this guy fights dirty. Hated this boss as a kid, but the victory was sweet af when he finally dropped. Cool level design... But oh my gosh the boss was cheaty af. Very tough fight. Worthy for being the second to last major boss tho, ngl... Well, third major boss if you count the first encounter with Starbeam vs. Bowser seperately from Giant Bowser.
Huh. I enjoyed this boss a lot. I oddly enough pogged at them healing, cause I knew it was gonna be a tough one. Idk, I like difficult games. Never was a fan of how easy the paper mario series became.
@@GeoAce51 Don't get me wrong, he was a worthy opponent but as a kid... He seemed almost worse than Bowser if you pick off the clones before the real guy. Which extends the chances he has to heal.
Guys really cool tip. Leveling up to Level 30 before getting to Bowsers Castle actually gets you a new story from Luigi who gives you a new badge that makes you look like him, like the L Badge in TTYD. It's really hard to do, and it takes a while but it's totally worth it. Not many people talk about it because no one's really grinded to Lvl 30, it takes forever lol.
It's impossible. 64's max level is I think 22 or 27. After that you don't get star points anymore and it's impossible to level up past that point. So, hoax debunked
You would do more damage if instead of charging you attacked since what you're doing is giving up 6 damage for a +2 damage in your future attack. Charging only works if you're gonna do the attack that you repeteadly jumped on the enemy until you failed the command, otherwise charging is useless.
Sushi for Tidal Wave + Lots of good badges = Overkill. This battle was easy with those two things. I beat it with 20 health left. His attacks didn't do much. All he did most of the time was summon crystal bits.
paper mario was by far the best and the turn based made it have a mario RPGish kinda feel made this game so much more awesome. i just didnt care for the free roam battles as much or id play a standard mario game.

Personally, I thought TTYD had the most balance since I wasn't perfect with the super guard power and the Zap Tap badge got nerfed due to enemies having more long-range/single strike attacks. The fact that special attacks cost more energy and it wasn't as easy to fill the bar was also a bonus.
One time he healed at 1HP remaining.
THEN HE DID IT AGAIN.
Smart move.
He was only giving you a warning, saying that if you heal while fighting Bowser, he'll do the same.

Crystal King is one of the most atmospheric bosses in the Paper Mario franchise and the music makes it even better
"You seem to be struggling. Just give in, it will be all over soon."
On that day mario turn into a human Icicle.

Huff n Puff is a banger too!
And Lava piranha phase 2
