All I can say is WOW!!!! Seeing this make me feel like the next level of turntable is on it's way and finally people will look at the tables as a instrument. Watching this video I don't know how anyone can deny it now.
This is simply unbelievable. Well done!! So intuitive, clever and the music being produced by this ingenious controller is really quite stunning. My jaw is on the floor.
Killing it. It's like a b-boy trombone! Plus a talkbox... It helps that your cutting is tight! Some of these tech examples are done by people who can't scratch, so it lessens the impact. Like I said, you're killing it!
its great to see turntablists develop new technologies. i especially like the way that you made it like a trombone in that you can slide up and down notes which allows more control for bending, vibrato, and arpeggios. if anything, that was the c1's greatest limitation in terms of changing pitches and notes.
That is so damn cool. I slept on this video from the description because the technicalities went over my head. But it sounds real nice. Props on the innovation!
The track is made completely out of scratching regular vinyl (minus the drum loop) in multiple layers. The controller one combined with the fretless fader makes everything possible. The talkbox and solo were freestyled.
Thanks! I didn't include any marking/leds/display on this 1st prototype because they're not completely necessary , especially since the C1 has it's own display for viewing the notes. I've got lots of ideas that aren't included on this first proof on concept. Thanks for the input.
this one is definitely going to revolutionize turntablism. just hoping vestax will drop prices for the controller 1. it's way too expensive. Great job man, no more taking your arm off the vinyl or the fader to change notes... definitely gonna keep my eye on this one. btw you got soul.
Love it. The only thing that kept me from going nuts on the controller 1 when I first palyed with it @ namm was the inability to change pitch without taking your fingers off the vinyl or fader. You solved this. If you need a beta tester let me know :) - I'd love to get my hands on this!
This fader will ONLY work with the Controller One, because I designed the turntable to change the motor speed to the correlating pitch on a chromatic scale (or any scale you program). I even added the major / minor functions. You can transpose, and set different base notes. It even has GATE mode, which allows you to program arpeggios on tone records. All of these features are inside the turntable itself. It's funny how it took this fader to come into existence for people to get the concept.
GreenEarth you're right, it changes the notes on the turntable so you don't have to press the buttons. The computer is recording the audio from the mixer.
That shit is super dope. I haven't been too happy with the skratch scene lately. Lotta cats just makin' space music, not even funky. "But this right here nikka...is called DEF" That shit is too dope man keep doing what you doing.
So much SOOOOOUUULLLLLLLLL. If the corporate stiffs don't step up to the plate and pick this up put me on the list for a home-made version. I'll mail you an 06 and everything.
hot damn! that's a nice concept! i had a similiar idea for this, only difference being you chnaged the octaves with a foot pedal... this makes more sense though, definately got the trombone thing going on... looks cool and sounds great!
Holy shit, that could definitely be used to create some solid new sounds. I really like that! You designed that? Fuckin' sweet. I wonder what Beardyman could do with that!
Thanks. Yeah, the talkbox is there more to show what's possible with the fretless fader and C1. There's been no way to do what you're seeing until now. The talkbox is basically an effect pedal... You don't actually sing at all but rather shape the sound of the instrument with your mouth and throat. To sum it up you're looking at a single tone being scratched and pitched to different notes simultaneously to form a melody, I just made it "talk".
I was going to break it down in the next video but Ruckazoid's right, the Controller One turntable is doing all the note changes, the Fretless Fader is just sending it MIDI messages.
Yes... but the PDX lacks some important features compared to the C1. With the C1, you can change the scale to any major/minor key and you can tune whatever sound you're using. On a PDX-3000 you would be stuck with only one major/minor key and no tuning adjustment.
Dam son. Good Work. Would be a good add to put marks on the mixer for the different keys. Just an idea for your million dollar invention that you need to patent. lol
talented guy. love the fader concept. it's been 9 months now, any news on it, how it's going etc? i'de love to see another video posted with any news on how it's going. did you get the patent? regards, jones. x
Will this be a highlight at 2010 NAMM at all? I hope Vestax picked up on this. This will resurrect the skratch game, If not, I would never understand why vestax would make a guitar-mixer-ttable and not something more useful like this.
12 years later & this is all still futuristic
😅

I listened to this when it was first posted years ago and it still sounds amazing today!
That's the freshest invention I have seen in years!!! Can't wait to see this in stores so I can buy one. Tons of respect for the innovative thinking!

This is pretty incredible, mad props on the design, implementation and your skills. So fresh.

this is the coolest thing I have seen in a while!!!! Plus the song that he used to demo it was killer too!!! Off the hook!
That is so damn cool. I slept on this video from the description because the technicalities went over my head. But it sounds real nice. Props on the innovation!
Heard about this idea a long time ago. Nice to see someone doing it and making it work!
Big respect!
This is exactly why I created this turntable, to bring this into existence, welcome to the next level
RUCKAZOID
Absolutely the most amazing turntable innovation I've yet to see. Congratulations!!
Oh damn and talkbox too? WHAA!
Dudeee hope all is good can’t wait for what you’re cooking up next. Always Fresh Always Original 💯💯💯🎶🎼🎵🎧
This is next level man. Let me get my comment in before a major company picks this up.
dope, you killed me when talkbox came in, it seems that I'm not the only one who came up with this idea :)
The track is made completely out of scratching regular vinyl (minus the drum loop) in multiple layers. The controller one combined with the fretless fader makes everything possible. The talkbox and solo were freestyled.
the moog guitar and now this this is really that new level ish takin the tables to mars
I designed the Fretless Fader to be a perfect companion for the C1... it accomplishes what the footpedal aimed to do in a much more intuitive way.
omg i havnt seen anything anywhere near this sick
fantastic man, great work, this looks like a blast.
Nice! This gives me new ideas to my own midi project! Thanks man!
dope!!! what a way to take the decks to another level.....
very musically !! love it, keep up the good work !
absolutely STUNNING!
WOW, that is the best idea ever. revolutionary

this really is some next level stuff..
I am amazed!
That's so ingenious.
Keep it up, you've got a good thing going there.

This is cool man. Very innovative.
that is the coolest thing i eva seen and way to make one for a technis just to controll the pitch to change the sound
absolutely brilliant

i heard those controller ones were nice to play on nice video that straight up freestyle nice
Wow, that sounds dope!!!!!

You REALLY NEED TO PATENT THIS DESIGN NOW!
That is off the meter. Thanks for posting and good luck with it cause I know you will eventually find an investor and market it.
amazing!!good work bro !!

Well, I see you already did! Pat. Pending in the video!.. Good luck with the patent grant!
truly dope and inspiring, fuck yeah!
absolut dope! ! !
dope work
proooops!! gotta post this on FB!!!
haha thanks. I try to keep the technicalities to a minimum, but I've had to go there to keep people from misinterpreting what they're seeing.
amazing!
I know y'all hate me for not posting any video in so long but I'll have an update soon.

John you should put this on KickStarter. I'm sure you'll get backed bro.
Plus I want one!
Dam son. Good Work.
Would be a good add to put marks on the mixer for the different keys.
