This is most important album by 2Pac. This album was his ticket to get out of prison. The success of this album prompted Interscope to devise a plan to get 2Pac out of prison. This is my favourite album by Pac. Indeed Dear Mama was one of the best song he ever wrote.

I’m a huge Pac fan I got a 2Pac chain I rock all the time. I feel Ready 2 Die was the better album and Who shot Ya was better than Hit em Up. I take my feelings out of it and I listen to the tracks. I skip a few only about 2,tracks on MATW but none on R2D. As far as the WSY vs HEU Till this day when Who Shot Ya came out, it’s the only song I ever pulled my car over to side of the street at the time the I first heard it on the radio. I called my cousin and said turn on your fking radio. That high pitched horn in the background. Separate the weak from the obsolete. The lyricism in that record is unmatched to me. To me Hit em up is more of the shock factor of the lyrics than the word play. Not saying it wasn’t great lyrically as well or maybe greatest as a disrespecting song. 2 separate things. Plus he used the same beat as Get Money Remix which had no originality on production which gets a slight ding from me. And I’m from the south before y’all think I’m some NY dude. Biggie was a new artist so of course they are going to have to put more into remixes and stuff to promote the record, 2Pac had 2 albums out prior whose combined sales where less than ready to die, see what I mean you can skew the facts to win an argument but an established star is going to need less promotion than a new artist regardless of the quality of the album. Plus 2Pacs sales push and publicity came from the fact he got shot and was in prison he never saw that level of success prior. I worked in the industry managing a group myself for spell. 2Pac is probably my favorite artist of all time but sometimes I think some of his fans are like the Lebron fans that gives you all the stats, but to me, Jordan was better no matter how you want to throw stats up. It’s not a crime to say he’s my favorite but there are better works out there and Big had hits out the Yang. Big took summers over.

@@onajiranac7237 Sorry for the late response been battling covid. He is speaking like a medic triages a multiple wounded scene. I know because I was an EMT. You have the triage categories of the wounded on a scene with multiple casualties. You have "minimal" which are people who are scratched up but fine, "delayed" which are people with injuries that require attention but can wait a bit, "immediate" which are those with life threatening injuries, needing immediate transport, and "expectant" which are those you can only provide comfort and are expected to die regardless of medical intervention. Thats why you will see like these different colored cones at mass shooting scenes. You are supposed to separate the casualties by their category. So Big is metaphorically speaking like a medic pulling up to a multiple casualty shooting scene, he is triaging them saying put the "weak" dudes over here which is the wounded or shook dudes, and obsolete dudes over here which are the dead ones. I only got it easily because of my background. Hopefully, I broke it good enough.

I loved both albums to be honest. I can`t really say one is better than the other. I bought Me Against the World on cassette tape back in 1995. And years later bought again on cd. That album was dope. 2Pac Me Against The World I played that album heavy back then. 2Pac Temptations & Death Around the Corner was straight 🔥🔥🔥
When I heard the song Juicy by The Notorious BIG I was on board I loved his flow. I bought his album on cassette tape back in November 1994. I played the hell out of that album The Notorious BIG Ready To Die. By the summer of 1995 I bought the One More Chance remix single and that joint was 🔥🔥🔥. The Notorious BIG Machine Gun Funk & Warning was straight 🔥🔥🔥.
RIP to the Legends Of The Fall.

I know biggie was taking too many Ls jeans to head but no way is any song on R2D not named big poppa or Juicy coming close to Lord Knows!! What?! Lord of knows is one of Pacs hardest songs from start to finish. Anyway, love the breakdown and it kinda mirrors both artists and their levels. Big will always be lyrically nice but Pac was just on another level. Put it this way, Pac was like 2 or 3 Bigs.

Ready To Die was a better album all round, any hip hop head with merit and no bias will tell you this, I’m shocked at some of these comments in here. I know people love 2pac but you gotta be out your mind to think Me Against The World was superior to one of the best debut hip hop albums ever made. Me Against the World is not a classic album, it’s got classics joints and came out at a pivotal time in PAC’s life story, but it’s not a classic, it’s a 4 Mic album at best. Ready To Die is a 5 Mic album, no doubt about it, cut the B.S. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 no joint gets skipped. Pac rushed Me Against The World, the original version of the album that never got released was actually a better body of work. Like I said, he got classic songs on this album like “So Many Tears”, “Temptations” and “Dear Mama”.

8 was close. Skill wise the what, but lyrically id say lord knows is so personally (i take a puff of the blunt to take the pain out, and if i wasnt high id probably blow my brains out - which he was close to before going to jail). Everyday struggle and suicidal thoughts is an interesting one - i think it's the "copied my style" big copied from him, because he had heard the lyrics to ru still down and me against the world album before. Otherwise agree - good analysis. Illmatic, me against the world and it's dark and hell is hot - my top 3 hip hop albums of all time.
