My late father took me to see this, God bless him, one of the greatest movies I have ever seen. It's criminal that it is not more widely known and honoured.
Wonderful music (thanks to the bell/s and the trumpet) and my favorite movie.. (I've seen it 25-30 times now) Can it be better?? Many, many thanks for posting it!! Lottie P.S. Can I get the film on DVD for Sweden region/PAL somewhere?
Well, it's easy to find a PAL version, but one with Swedish subtitles is a bit harder to find. I wouldn't know. I got my own version from a dvd box with 3 movies, all subtitled in dutch. It's part of a collection of italian masterworks, edited by Homescreen.
Nope, haven't seen Fiorile. But thanks for the tip. I think that's the way most film music is composed, although there are notable exceptions. For instance, I know that Sergio Leone filmed his duel scene in Once Upon a Time in the West with Morricone's music in the background to time the action.
Well.. Swedish subtitles is not so very important.. Mostly because I've seen it so many times and speaks a little Italian already.. Thanks for telling.. Have you seen Fiorile too? About how the Benedetti (the blessed) family became the Maledetti (the cursed).. It's also a collbraton between the Taviani brothers and Niccolai Piovani.. He (Piovani) told that they first makes the film almost finished, then he makes the music and suggestions about the movie to fit the music.. All the best! Lottie
My favorite movie!! Love it!! I've seen it 25-30 times. Close my eyes and enjoys the dialogue and music..

I saw it on TV when Channel Four would have foreign language films mid week.
Agree with you!! I've seen it around 25-30 times and still love it!! Pure magic!!
Couldn't agree more..
Un souvenir indélébile je l'ai vu à sa sortie Pirandello/Taviani frères le Kaos vers une compréhensiom❤

Numero uno.. Best film music ever!!
This must truly be the most beautiful cinematic achievement ever.
Musica magica, ancora!!
This music has haunted me for more than 25 years...
Me too.........
There are funny moments in it such as with La Jiarro but it's mostly melancholic and poignant.
Τaviani brothers' best film...
Lovely music!!
la trovata di inserire il campanello in partitura è geniale.
fantastic...
Where is that temple? And where is that hilltop village? I thought I knew Sicily…
Um dos filmes mais intensos da minha vida. Pirandello gostaria de ter visto seus contos transpostos para a arte dos irmãos Taviani
