    Narek is honestly so great for his age - there is so much maturity in all of his interpretations! What a wonderful cellist! He truly is one of my favourite currently-living cellists.

    I think that Narek Haknzaryan is one of the greatest (and most winning) cello talents to have come along in years. For me, his performance--available on RUclips--of Paganini's one-string variations is absolutely unsurpassable. But I think that, in the present performance, his playing is so small-scale and intimate that it doesn't so much ride the piano accompaniment as submit to it. Granted, some of this impression may be due to the way the performance has been. But despite this possible mitigating factor, I do wish that he had shown a little more extroversion. Still, I remain a huge fan!

    • @jimp4170

      It's an introspective piece.

    • @federico_clerici
      @federico_clerici 3 года назад

      @@jimp4170 Indeed they are, as it is the case of most of compositions Schumann wrote in the late period. The first piece is introspective (belonging to "Eusebius") and the third is definitely more extrovert (i.e. "Florestan") and their interpretation of them was really on point. The second one on the other hand is a sort of lied/duet and I would have differentiated a bit more the light-hearted first section and the more cantabile/calm middle section, perhaps having a fuller sound in the first (the ethereal ending however was beautifully played!).

    It's interesting to hear E natural in measures 31 and 32 (1:30, piano's right hand). Other pianists in other great performances choose to play it that way, but I love Schumann's E flat, the unexpected darkness of it. It's in the manuscript. Is it a difference in editions?

  • @pieroalessandrocassano8287

    I d try to expres it better .The first piece represent s the poet longing for his lover far (Clara was out for concerts)and not yet married.
    The second is the promise and joy of life together :the poet expresses is will to bring her a new life.He is a sort of Don Juan poem in the sense he try to be an hero in conquering a new life together.So no violence but hopes vital feeling even in the sense of making sons but in the better sense.That s why there is a sort of sexual force in the raising up of the theme.He is not making violence to her but showing her his will vital force spiritual to give her a new life

  • @mondnachtigall
    @mondnachtigall 13 лет назад +5

    Wow! This is supposed to be from a masterclass? What could the master say when the student could play like this? (The only comments I would make is that they are not playing it like chamber music - not enough interaction between cello and piano, especially at moments when piano should be leading and cello accompanying).

    • @pieroalessandrocassano8287

    Great moments but better not look.I would advise not to make false expression.Let your expression be as true as possible to your good feeling.Like once Tolstoy said"sincerity sincerity and sincerity".Try to study the score as Furtwangler did.The pianist plays better because he has the score.Pianists schould not follow the desiderata of soloists.Please soloists study the piano score.Anyway many beautiful moments.Thanks Good luck!The future behold to your young hands!
