Excellent review mate. I got this lens with a second hand a6500 and started playing with it only today, over a month since getting it. I am mighty impressed with what I can produce with this combo so far! Highly recommended for amateurs and enthusiasts I would say.

After all the fuss of 2.8 lenses now, i have overlooked this lens. From your video this lens is awesome. Furthermore it has OSS which to me is important for video. To pair it with ZVE1, i think this combo will be stellar.😊
Really great video! I think many reviewers forget how light it is and for me that is the only reason I own it and recently bought it despite having my camera for years. Some days (doing photo walks or test stuff) I just hate lugging around my faster lens. Yes, the aperture is slow but but it works . I carry my 17-28 tamron if I need to go wider and use clear zoom if I need a little extension on the longer end but these are low fuss days ans not about image quality. I don’t pixel peak anyway and on most occasions I’m using it between f5.6 and f8 and its pretty sharp. The alternative by weight comparison 28-60 which is tiny but I often found this just a but short. Everything else you have shown is a bonus for me and optically it’s great too (love the internal zoom too), especially it looking more filmy as it’s not so sharp which gives it more ‘character’ IMO (i own a fuji for this reason too). Some of those other flaws can be fixed in post in raw or in camera if you’re shooting jpeg. I think you have to have a purpose for your lenses and gear and work them accordingly. I own a few things which do a lot, but nothing I own does everything so I’ve built my system accordingly.

thank you. I find it so hard to find good info on this lens, I'm hoping that i can use it as my mid range zoom to get started so that I don't have to buy too many lenses at once. you made it look great... I'm sure a lot of that comes done to your skill, but its nice to know that the lens can achieve a good look. since full frame is going to be a stretch for me to afford, I like the idea of having a general purpose lens in my kit that I could smash without loosing too much sleep. It makes it possible to use the camera in a more run and gun way and in circumstances where the lens could get damaged which might mean getting shots that I wouldn't get if I had to put expensive glass in a precarious position. thanks again!
If you know how to deal with, actually this lens can give you more than you think.

So it's not a $2000 G Master got it. It still however looks pretty good and the cost of it gives you some piece of mind if you are walking around. Glad to have one.
when you zoom in is it super grainy as well having some hot pixels?
28-70 + 85 1.8 or Tamron 28-75 2.8? I can only buy either the two Sony or the Tamron for pre-wedding photography. What do you recommend?

I know this is a kit lens review and you did an excellent job on your review, but the shutter noise, wow, it's too loud, 3X louder than my A57. Aside from motion shots, are there any differences when shooting in quiet mode in PQ? Have you tried taking 4K video and extracting the frames (e.g., using ffmpeg) and pixel peeping the quality of the frames / geometry / chromatic issues? Thanks again!

What do you recommend as an all around lens for video and photo for a7iii that has OSS?
Trying to stick to using one lens without changing it out too often.
Sony 24-105mm F4 is a good choice.

Not best, but it produces some.
hello friend, I just watched the video about the a7iii between the kit 28:70, what is the best setting to record in 1080 and 4k using the kit lens?
I recommend shooting in S-LOG3.
I know it's a little complicated to handle, but it gives you the best result out from the camera.
And Frame rate is up to your preference. Either of 24 or 30fps (My basic fps is 24).
And the ideal shutter speed is double of your FPS (If 24fps, 1/50).
Keep ISO 800 as much as possible. If you need to change an exposure, use aperture or ND filter( You can crank SS up, but around 1/500 at max).

Which Sigma Lens is competing with this one? I would like a Sigma lense that a bit of an upgrade to this lense in your video BUT! There’s an but, it must more or less in the same price range. Does a sigma lense like this exist? I need a new lense ASAP .

7:28 危ないよ!! 😂 Any how I am trying to convince myself to keep this lens instead of selling it and getting a EF/EF-S to NEX adapter and using my canon lenses on there instead. I only got adapted lenses and the only thing this thing has over those is auto focus. Which the adapter would solve. I am still not convinced that I should keep it around.

Its competition is the Canon EF Zoom 35-105mm f4.5 from 1989. Just as light, better reach, better image quality while still looking a bit vintage. @@KenseiAkatsu
