These GMC Envoy's are great mid-size SUV's in general. The newer GMC Acadia, which is a crossover is junk, because they had numerous electrical problems, mechanical problems, transmission problems and so forth. It also had the unreliable, 3.6 L V6 engine from General Motors.
Yup far superior from the Acadia. We tested out an Acadia in 2007, but glad we bought the envoy instead. I wonder if they fixed all the problems with the 3.6?
I have a 2006 GMC Envoy Denali with it's 8.3 V-8 engine and the honeycombed Grill - I much prefer this grill and it's been a GREAT car for handling. They sold a lot of these in Mexico, but apparently they didn't offer the V8 in Mexico. I've had some work done to my car by outstanding mechanics in Mexico. The Envoy has required more maintenance than the 2001 Chevy Suburban, because I have about 320k miles on the Suburban and only 200k on the Envoy - with the Envoy I've had more issues and more work and recently replaced the Rack and Pinion and all the ball joints, so it's handling super fine and it's fun to drive.
@@321verykind A friend bought one - a white 2006 Envoy; then, there was a 2006 Black one - seems like these were company cars. These were in storage for a while so they had gasket leaks. The white one had some issue where it'd stop starting until an hour or so when it would start - my friend was never able to resolve that issue. Mine has been with me for 3 yrs. already and has been a good car, but there were two occasions when I had to do head jobs on it. Recently, one mechanic messed up a thread and didn't fix it, so that's why I took it to Mexico and had a good mechanic go over it - now it handles like a sports car again. If I tour Mexico again, I'll probably drive the "01 Suburban again - perfect car for those trips, but not as much fun to drive.
hello from puerto rico I have an envoy slt xl 2003 6 cyl and honestly it is a tank, I did a lot of maintenance on mine, for example the gasoline pump and those vehicles tend to fail in the gasoline tank I corrected all those problems Mine has 130,000 miles on mine. My only complaint is its consumption in the city because it is very efficient on the highway.
I have really enjoyed my Envoys, You should black one out , Taillights, Rims , dark tint. My last Envoy was an SLT fully loaded 02 , my new 07 SLE is great but there is a big difference between bells and whistles. Also my 02 had a G80 eaton Locker
my family icon vehicle. As much as I would love to, I really like the stock look. If anything, id buy a Denali and black that out. Glad you had a good time with your vehicle :)
thank you for clarifying the grille, my 05 has the newer grille with the chrome, (someone long before me hit a deer, and they replaced it with a newer style grille, without the headlight washer option
Hi, can you tell me the model number of the BOSS stereo unit you have in your 2004 Envoy and if it'd Android Auto? I am looking for one for a 2004 5.3 XUV and like how yours looks in this video.
I just got my 03 xl slt with the 5.3 took off my roof rack running boards and third row seats all the badges and moulding I took off as well next is the rear wiper
The GMC Envoy from 2002 to 2004 has a voice recorder.
The Envoy from GMC has the Vortec 4200 DOHC Inline 6 Cylinder engine that produces 275 horsepower & 275 ft-Ibs of torque.
Yup. The 2004’s did. But power was bumped in 2006

They also have very bad transmissions as well

The 2004 GMC Envoy XL is my favorite year of the 2nd Generation with the same chassis as the Chevrolet Trailblazer.
Same I like it as well. I think 2005 and higher they started using cheaper materials and cost cutting everywhere

Wow. It’s still young. Keep up with the maintenance and you should be good to go

I have an 07 Trailblazer & 05 Envoy. I can tell you there are many and subtle changes between the 4.2s bwtween the years
Interesting. I’ve only driven the 2006 4.2 so i wouldn’t know 😆
please How much is the fuel tank in liters?
A quick google search showed 25 gallons or 94 litres :)

Yes. Both grilles are nice 😊
3M red moulding/trim tape available at body shop supply stores…
Will try that

I would love to see a picture. I am thinking of getting newer wheels, but would like to keep everything else stock. These 5.3's are tanks
What is the purpose of you removing all those pieces if I may ask??
