I was fortunate enough to make it to this interview in person. When Jessye performed it was a complete surprise to all of us. I remember feeling like a fly on the wall watching and listening to someone perform in the privacy of their own home. That's how comfortable Norman was on that stage. Jessye was magnetic! I got to ask her a question and take a photo with her. It was the last time I would see her. RIP Ms. Norman...
Absolutely grand words from a lady of laughter and grace. Full of poise and intellect. Thank you Mother madam phenomenal woman for sharing with me words through song. Bless your soul with continued joy, strength and faith.
Thanks for posting this. I love Jessye's message starting at 4:38. It's a great message that is profound and utterly true. It's also one of the biggest reasons music is a requirement for man kind moving forward in the future. A fact which exists whether one chooses to believe it or not.
Is he did not assume a FAKE accent you dumbkoff. As an intelligent woman she mastered five languages and was a personal friend to youngsters and promote d education globally, establishing schools, not just ‘ programs’ to which all talented and aspiring youth and adults alike were encouraged and many developed successful musical careers. She had residences in several countries, and based in Britain, a friend not just acquaintance, of Queen Elizabeth. Her speech was genuine and authentic Jessie Norman. What a great persona and what a tremendous loss.
This world is a much emptier and sadder without this marvelous human being who was named Jessye Norman.
