Arkham asylum is my favorite game in the series it’s the most comic book like of all of them it’s simple but that’s why it’s so good and the atmosphere is amazing n it also has Arleen sorkin
I agree. The game gave a journey to the character Batman as to his psyche and mindset and how he defines himself compared to all the madness of the Asylum. Well put video; which I enjoyed watching. Ngl, I'd be interested in seeing more of these analysis videos, not necessarily just Arkham Batman games, but any Batman content really; whether it's Batman Telltale Season games, or other Bat-films of the past. That is of course, assuming you're intrigued in doing them.
Ngl asylum is my favorite Arkham game, they’re all S tier but asylum hit different, the atmosphere, limited space, and story are just fantastic in my opinion.
Well said. For me, there’s also a level of nostalgia that puts it above the others. While it definitely fell slightly short in certain element compared to the games that came after it, it got so much right for being the first game of the series.
Agreed. I’m not sure what makes it hit so perfectly though. Knight has the best gameplay and graphics, City the best story, but none of them hit like Asylum. It’s just the perfect Batman game.
Playing Asylum after Knight was kind of funny to me. I kept trying to use abilities that don't exist in AA. The combat, too. I'm so used to having a much more complex kit and combat abilities. Calling AA bad would be a lie, but the differences are STAGGERING!
Unpopular opinion: Asylum is the best out of the Arkham games in terms of feeling like Batman. The story is basically just another night in his life and he already experienced everything out of the comics until maybe the 2000s.
Very much agreed. The game also establishes very well that he is not superhuman, and has to rely on his wits and tactics to survive. Later games leaned in too far into the power fantasy aspect of the gameplay too much, in my opinion which made the experience much less authentic.
Thanks for the video and if you look at it Batman's villains are a character study of Batman two you think about it scarecrow represents fear to Batman Ivy represents temptation Joker represents insanity and keeping him from losing his ege
Well but video but can I add suggestion if that's OK? Could you maybe add some background music to your videos? It helps me be engaged more but you don't have to if you don't want to
The Arkham games do have some great music which could serve as background tunes. But if you do make sure to not make the music too loud so we can still make out exactly what you’re saying :) really enjoyed this analysis though!! Even though it’s 15 years old (wow that makes me feel old 😢) Arkham asylum is still a banger
Ironically it’s probably the best one to play on Halloween bc it feels more like a horror game than knight with the crazies and trapped feeling
Also people say the same thing about the 89 Batman movie too but he has an arc in that one also. He goes from sparing criminals to murdering them.
That… is actually really interesting

Arkham Asylum has that dark creepy atmosphere, that's something that the other games don't have.
Nice video Jake!
Thanks!
Great video
It’s very easy to think of Arkham Asylum as 1 dimensional but I think you explained it very well
Great video. Would love a more in depth video discussing the whole over arching theme across all Arkham games as you briefly mentioned

I like Arkham city more but I think this game has the best atmosphere out of any of the games
I agree.
