While the New 3DS XL is better, the New 2DS XL was the only model still in production by Nintendo when support was dropped. For a while there, it was the only model you could buy new (at a reasonable price). I got mine in June of 2020 when they were bleeding their stock, so I got a new system AND Mario Kart 7 for just $99. Also, a grip can make the sound forward-facing.
Nope the new 2ds xl is alot better not only does it get rid of the 3d effect screen that causes seuizers very badly but the new 2ds xl has fixed alot if the 3ds problems like triggers and the cartridge slot last longer and dont get picky reading a game
@@davless152000 I'm not personally aware of anyone who's had a seizure from the 3D effect, but you can turn it off on any 3ds model, making any 3DS a 2DS. So omitting the 3D feature isn't really an upgrade, it's a downgrade. The triggers are different, but again, I didn't feel as if they were a significant upgrade compared to any other 3DS model. They were just slightly changed. The game slot is a nice design change. I like that it's covered, but again, all my 3DS consoles read games without any issue. Even my old 2011 original 3DS. Is that a widespread problem?
@@NeanderMeander I had the launch 3ds back in 2011 and I take good care of my stuff and keep stuff dusted off to but the L and R triggers went out and using a can of air only worked then they gave out then the card reader got picky then I got the 3ds xl when it first came out after 2 years its L and R triggers gave out and the screen started getting dead pixels like I said I take good care of my stuff to then I had a few 2ds nothing wrong with them I skipped the new 3ds xl waited to get the new 2ds xl and it was a hudge upgrade and works awesome like all the flaws from the past were corrected from the past like the triggers and card reader now to compare you asking me if that's a side spread I got a switch lite that hasnt got joy con drift but is that a wide spread problem what I'm trying to get st is the 3ds was L and R and card reading problems while the switch has joy con drift just cause your 3ds havnt gotten anything wrong dont mean it dont exists when it does so yeah it is a wide spread problem but not all of us get everything it's just how life is
@@davless152000 I’m not downplaying your misfortune. I’m was just asking if the card reader issue was widespread, meaning a common problem. I’m aware of Joy Con drift, it’s very well known. I know plenty of people that have experienced Joy Con drift. All my Joy Cons work perfectly. I haven’t ever experienced the drift. But I acknowledge that it’s a problem because it’s affected a large number of people. I haven’t heard about the card reader issue or the shoulder button problems so I was trying to find out if I’ve been living under a rock. Again, that’s a bummer you’ve had problems with your consoles. The New 2DS XL is suited for your needs. For others, it’s not. We’re all in this together and that’s what’s great about the 3DS. There’s a model for just about everyone.
The 2DS is probably my favorite 3DS model as far as ergonomics. Also, there’s plenty of 3rd party Stylus that are telescopic, that way you can get a bigger stylus out of your system
I was just joking about the stylus size. It's really not a big deal. Though, that's really awesome that there are telescopic stylus's for them! Kind of like the original 3DS stylus.
The biggest reason I like the new 2DS XL is simply due to SD card placement Now I don't have to literally unscrew the back of the console just to take out the SD
The SD card placement is so much better on the New 2DS XL. It's baffling that Nintendo decided to put the SD card under the back plate on the other "New" models.
i got rid of all of the screws on my new 3ds xl, so the most i have to do to swap/modify the SD is just slide the backplate off and it comes off like that. i agree it's annoying though
another big issue i see with the 3ds and xl is the paint nintendo used seems to chip and peel off easily from just oily skin/sweaty hands. when looking online to buy one 2nd hand you will see this issue a lot unless they used the console with a case. The 2ds xl does not have this problem as the plastic is not coated in a paint.
This is a great point. I was unaware it was a thing for a long time. None of mine have this problem. Maybe my hands don’t produce whatever is causing it. The consoles that have suffered from it look bad.
I love my 2DS XL, it was the first Nintendo console I purshased after taking almost a dacade away from gaming. I feel back in love with Nintendo after owing it. It renewed my love of gaming, especially retro. It's not the best console but it has a special placed in my heart.
I own a new 3ds xl, new 2ds xl, and the 2ds but my favorite has got to be the original 2ds, it's the most comfortable for me and love the oversized l and r buttons. I also love that the buttons dont click, so me fingers don't get tired after hours of playing.
I usually don’t comment on product review videos, but the quality of your work is outstanding. You really meticulously care for the choice of your words, the audio quality of your voice, your opinion is carefully thought out with no real bias, and visually the footage is appealing and clear. Out of all the reviews I’ve seen, your videos definitely stand out and helps people like myself make informed decisions. Keep up the great work 👍🏽.
I got a New 3DS XL on launch day and I loved it, but I had two major issues with it. One, the SD card placement, and two, how heavy it was. The New 2DS XL fixed both of those problems for me while still providing the larger screen experience I was looking for, so it’s become my favorite 3DS model by far.
Yeah, while there are some neat things about the New 2DS XL (like the game card and SD card slot cover), the other New models come out on top easily. People really need to give the 3D more of a chance; I always tell others that it took me about 45 minutes to adjust to the effect and be rid of the eye strain for good. 5 minutes is not enough to test it out, which is I suspect what most people give it.
You're absolutely right! The 3D really adds to those games and giving it a few minutes to test out isn't enough time for your eyes to adjust to it. I'm happy to find that there are others who share my same thoughts about the 3D.
@@lifespanofafry1534 This made me laugh this morning! Some people can handle the 3D and others can't. To be honest, it doesn't really matter. Play the way that's most comfortable for you.
It's not just 3D. The weight, the feel, the higher grade speakers (ones that are in our faces, rather than aimed downward). The fact I can attach a screen cleaning cloth with a nylon thread that has a mini bag to hold the cloth in (helps that I already had some from DS release pre-orders)? So I can keep my screen clean all the time, and the general button layout being larger when I have long fingers, making it feel more natural? Nevermind if I want to replace the N3DS XL screen, it's not easy, but it's doable. The N2DS requires extra finesse as the screen is designed as a one-time install, attached with glue to the exterior plate.
While the N3DS and N3DSXL designs are definitely great, I do kinda miss the metal design only the O3DS had. It looked so premium. But then I bought the O3DSXL and I felt a bit disappointed. Do you happen to have any idea why they ditched the metallic design for the rest of the series? Was it too expensive? Or were there any practical downsides to it?
It was probably a cost cutting measure. Also, that original design didn't initially sell very well, so Nintendo probably thought a console redesign would help drive sales. Which I think it did. I also really like the feels of the original 3DS. It feel like a premium console.
I have seen on a couple videos that people complained about the finish picking up finger prints an people hated it for that reason. I still have my go 3ds in aqua and I've always been happy with it.
I really like the 3D effect, it works very well, and it just adds another dimension. Still like my New 3DS XL. I wish they made a new 3D twin screen system with the latest tech. That would be my dream Nintendo handheld.
Honestly I've always used the 3D on my N3DSXL and I like it a lot, it somehow makes the low screen resolution less jarring to my eyes, it distracts me from the obviously aliased edges. That 3D effect is half the reason why I still play my 3DS occasionally despite owning a Vita, Switch, and Gaming PC.
I agree with you! The 3D effect does distract from those things. It makes playing a game interesting as well. I can play any game in 2D. But you to have it actually pop out of the screen is amazing! Especially without glasses.
@@NeanderMeandermy favorite thing about 3D effect is how it makes text boxes and other UI elements pop out! And even with that, it still provides enough depth variation to simultaneously show background elements further back from the main layer that your eyes believe as where the screen is in physical space relative to yourself. It’s this two way depth that I love so much. It’s the reason why I have that 3D slider always maxed out. Honestly, so few people got the new 3DS relative to the OG, that the initial bad rep that the 3D effect got thanks to that first iteration has taken years and years to have reverse thanks to the “New” iteration of 3D. It really is crazy to think about though-that such a thing like the New 3DS exists. It is the combination of two big creative bets that Nintendo made: dual screens and 3D gaming. I’m sure they cared whether third-party game developers adopted such massive and unique hardware changes. But the thing is that they did it anyway despite nobody truly asking them to do so. They did because they got the idea, could see themselves making many fun games using the features, and were confident enough in those dreams to lead the way. This imo makes the New 3DS (and its library of top tier games) the pinnacle of Nintendo creativity. It just oozes that essence and is so visceral when you use the darn thing. It’s simply magical. Add on top of that the homebrew scene and all the special editions…and people wonder why they are so expensive (don’t get me wrong, I hat that they are). These things are so very valuable.
I always was like "N3DS XL" is the way to go. I got a N2DS XL recently for some other purposes and I must say: I love it The system is sooo much lighter and makes playing longer very comfortable. It kinda feels cheap, but also exclusive with its rough surface. Micro SD is also very easy acessible unlike N3DS XL where you have to screw the system open or use Nintendo's slow transfer program over network. I disagree with "3DS Games are designed around 3D in mind". This really only applies to the 1st party nintendo games for the first 2-3 years. Later games barely had any 3D at all.
Just bought a new 2ds xl and it's coming today. I'm so excited to finally play the castlevania ds titles as well as all the other wonderful ds/3ds titles that I never got the chance to play as a kid
I love the 2DS as I never cared for the 3D. I agree with the speaker placement why on the bottom!? I'm glad Nintendo made both models so people had an option when making their DS purchase.(I know you can turn off the 3D effect but I know I'd never use it) Nintendo needs to bring back the 3DS but now with OLED!
One huge weakness of the New 2ds xl is the upper screen... all other 3ds models including the original 2ds have a metal case that wraps around the back and sides of the screen itself, the New 2ds xl has no such metal back and sides which when dropped or even in some cases just push on a little too hard increases the likelihood of that top screen to crack.
Nice insight! I didn't even think about including that in the video. Maybe I'll do another video about it in year. That seems to be the spacing between my 2ds videos.
the 2ds xl had a lot of cool limited editions. i bought the animal crossing edition myself. however, i don’t think i’d be using it as my main console. it feels too light and the top cover feels too delicate - i’m scared i’ll accidentally yank it off somehow or break it if i drop it. i do agree that it feels a bit cheap. i like the slim design though, it looks more modern than the 3ds. but i wish it had a bit of weight to it and was more sturdy.
I think I like the New 2DS’s top screen is because it’s way lighter than the other 3DS model, so not only do I feel the hinge will be more durable, but I feel like it’s more form fitting because most of the weight is directly being held.
the 2 things I dislike about the N2DS XL is how the stylus is designed, and where the audio slider is placed because I keep accidentally pushing up on it while playing games
I LOVE my 2DS XL. It's my first choice for console purchase in 2021. Over the Switch. Over everything else. I scoured the city to find one. It's elegant and thin (cheap plastic though, indeed and loose hinges). It works wonderfully as a life sim console. Ever Oasis and New Leaf look amazing on it. If I ever get my hands on Bravely Default and any game designed with 3D in mind, I'll probably miss the 3D though... Thanks for the video and good for you keeping an open mind even though... You had already made up your mind about it! Appreciate the goodwill.
I really do like the 2DS XL. It's just missing a few things that I really like about the 3DS models. But overall it's been really fun to play games on. What color is the console you ended up finding? Thanks for watching!
@@NeanderMeander The turquoise -edged one. The inside is beautiful, black with teal accents. The outside border plastic looks cheap so I covered it with washi tape along with any scratches (bought it used) since they don't really sell sleeves for it anymore. You always love your hardware more if it's personalized with decorative stickers, lol.
I decided to sell my New 3DS XL for a New 2DS XL, a telescopic stylus and some games and I have no regrets. Yes, the speakers are worse but thing is I usually play with my headphones anyways. Plus, the flap cover for the card slot and SD card is way better than having to make sure your games don’t fall out and not having to unscrew the back of the console to replace the SD card, especially if you’re apart of the homebrew community. Only real issue is the TN panels but honestly TN does not automatically equal a bad display, yes it’s worse than an IPS display however it’s not as bad as say a TN panel on a DS lite or the Non-XL DSi.
Yeah, I really like the New 2DS XL. I didn't mention the screens in the video because it's really not that big of a deal. IPS screens look better, but I've used the TN screens for the majority of my gaming. Also, not all New 3DS XL or New 3DS consoles come with IPS displays. It's all just luck when it comes to those. I have two that have both top and bottom IPS displays and I hardy use them.
A console that I love! I remember in my childhood that I always wanted a GBA, unfortunately my parents never had the money for it, now with the 2ds XL I bought it with my own money, It's almost like having a GBC, GBA and DS in one (I just hate the speakers, they are very badly located haha)
I had a regular 3DS XL and was planning on getting a New 3DS the next time my mom went to the US, and then they announced the 2DS XL. I just wanted the New model to play Xenoblade Chronicles and Earthbound on top of the games I already had at the time, so the 2DS XL's lower price and some QOL improvements (such as the cartridge slot being tucked away safely) made me go for it instead. I never cared for 3D, in part cuz I'm the kind of person who prefers to preserve battery so I can play longer without being tethered to a charger (and now that's a necessity cuz my charger is busted, it's a headache to get it to connect). Coming from the 3DS XL, the 2DS XL does feel superior despite an obvious cheaper build quality. The thumbstick feels good, the buttons are clicky enough (this is I problem I always had with the DSi XL and the 3DS XL as their buttons were so stiff, but especially the DSi XL's), the design of the shell is slicker, and the speakers are louder for whatever reason, despite the inconvenient placement. It's also considerably lighter, so it's comfortable to hold in many positions, whereas the 3DS XL required me to sit a certain way cuz it just got so uncomfortable. If someone's considering the 3DS and doesn't care much for the 3D effect, the 2DS XL really is the way to go. There aren't too many games exclusive to it, but I'd say it's worth getting for Xenoblade Chronicles alone, which is worth checking out when you consider that they managed to put such a huge game in a tiny, weak system and it still looks gorgeous. It also plays quite well without too much loss in performance where you'd expect to get about 20 FPS most of the time. It's a shame that Konami couldn't be bothered to update Metal Gear Solid 3 to take advantage of the New 3DS's improved hardware, so it still plays horribly on any New 3DS model.
My paragraph on why the 2DS XL is better. The 2DS XL has a covered cartridge slot, making it less likely to build up dirt. The 2DS XL has more rounded corners compared to the 3DS XL. The 2DS XL has a better design, and its slick. The 2DS XL can be less babied than the 3DS XL. The 2DS XL has many very cool grips. The 2DS XL survives more falls. The 2DS XL is cheaper. The 2DS XL has a better home button placement, better cartridge slot placement, better screen, better speaker placement, better processer, better colors, better size, better feel, better looks, and since you can play for longer due to everything I just said, the 2DS XL, is better.
Thanks for sharing your perspective. Do you only have a New 2DS XL? I just got a comment that gave an opposing view on almost every one of the things you brought up. I think it's a system that you either love or really don't care about. I didn't like it at all when I first go it. Then a played it for a while and I came to the conclusion that it's an alright 3DS. I prefer the New 3DS and the New 3DS XL over it, but that's just me. I like the placement of the speakers on them over the New 2DS XL. I think that might be one of the weaker aspects of the the 2DS XL. Why did they put them on the bottom pointing at your hands? I have mixed feeling about the cartridge slot flap. It's great that it keeps dust out, but I hate opening it every time I want to play a different game. I don't like it on the Switch either. The home button is better on it though. I will agree with you on that. It's cool that we all have different opinions on these systems. I say play whatever makes you happy. That's what I do.
@@NeanderMeander Thanks for sharing your opinion. I respect it and I do think the 3DS XL is better in some ways. If you mostly care about having a better experience in the games you play and having a convenient system, the 3DS XL is better. If you want a more long-lasting comfortable system, then the 2DS XL is better.
@@NeanderMeander Great I look forward to seeing it, just remember it's quality over quantity, alot of smaller RUclipsrs focus too much on daily or weekly uploads over the quality of their videos, yours however have great production quality. Good Luck! :)
@@98SE Thanks! I'm definitely not one to rush a video. I takes me over a week to just film them let alone write, voice over, and edit. It usually takes me about 3 weeks to get one of these videos out, but I stagger them to release in two week intervals. Sometimes it takes me longer though.
The biggest deal breaker for me not upgrading my new 3ds XL to the new 2ds XL was the fact that none of the new 2ds XL models had an IPS display. The TN screens they downgraded to looked extremely washed out compared to previous iterations.
Was definitely an interesting piece of tech. I loved the box and the feel, even though it doesnt feel as premium as the new 3ds xl. Some of its special editions with the 3d lid designs are so cool, the pokeball and hylian shield. That 3d pikachu face is awful though, so uncanny!
I think the weight distribution is better on the 2DS XL for long play sessions compared to the 3DS XL models. You can feel the weight of the top screen much more on the New 3DS XL, and the 2DS XL is about 1/3 lighter overall. But it's not enough to make the New 3DS XL a bad experience by any means.
The 3DS XL is actually sightly bigger and it's a bit more comfortable to hold, IMO. I ended up buying a Japanese 3DS LL (same as the XL) and did a US conversion on it. I absolutely love it over my 2DS XL, though, I still refuse to give up my 2DS XL. The entire build on the 3DS feels sturdier, and more rugged. I personally don't think weight difference is very significant since even the 3DS XL is still fairly light overall. I almost feel like the 2DS XL is too light.
A few things, the speakers placement never really bothered me, but that might just be how little I've played on the 3d capable models. The speakers themselves are actually the same ones on the switch, as I've replaced sets of both. On replacing parts though.. The 2dsxl is indefensibly badly designed with longevity in mind, I got one second hand and felt the need to replace the battery, circle pad and volume slider, which were awful to do. On the 3d models, just pop the backplate off and remove the battery(the battery in the N2dsxl is also the same as the switch Pro controller battery). I do think the design of the 2dsxl comes out on top when it's open, sleek glass top, no large bezel on the bottom die to the home button and camera placement
@@NeanderMeander definitely not my favourite thing to open up,, lots of soldering, but needs must sometimes, I do think it was hastily designed in conjunction with the switch due to them both using a large number of similar and identical parts, which at least means that people who are able to fix them will have the ability to for as long as the switch is supported. Ever tried to find DS lite parts now? No chance
i just love the aesthetic of it. the screen size just feels right. i always felt a little silly playing a 3ds xl so the size of the 2ds xl feels nice. and the standard editions were super cool. i love the little pop of color with the edge and buttons. super cool
I've the new 3ds and 3ds xl, the new 3ds is the most premium feeling version I think with it's matt finish whereas the new 3ds xl has that cheaper feeling shiny shell that ends up peeling paint off over time. I use my 2ds xl with my r4 card to play gb, md and ds lite games on and it's perfect!
What would you think guys would be a decent price for New nintendo 2ds xl. And for Nintendo 2ds (the regular One) both New consoles, not pre-owned. In my country they have the new nintendo 2ds xl for $140. And the 2DS is pricing around $80 both includes a pre-installed game , these are prices from official retailers and as I mentioned before, these are completely new, not previously used. So there's a $60 difference, I don't really care that much about the exclusives new 3ds /2ds games (xenoblade chronicles for example) I'm looking forward to play mostly Zelda's, Mario's and metroid's games... And I also don't care at all about using the 3ds feature, that's why I'm just looking exclusively for one of the 2ds models (the regular or new 2ds xl) but what I really really like is being able to close the console and to have those two screens hahaha. I'm really interested in taking the console with me and I think new nintendo 2ds xl will do better for me in that case. But idk if those extra $60 are worth it mainly because of just being able to close the console. What would you say guys? Edit: I also thought about just getting the old 3ds so I can close my console, thinking it was in a better price. But after all, at least in my country, the old 3ds (new, from retail store) is around $125, so is a difference of just $15 with the new 2ds xl, which makes me think that I don't see it worth it. I would prefer in that case to rather spend those extra $15 for the new 2ds xl. So yup, I think my options will still the same, either old 2ds ($80) or new 2ds xl ($140)
Well, the original 2DS has smaller screens. That an the body of the console are the biggest differences. Do you like larger screen and screen protection when it's closed? Or do you like smaller screens and a solid body? I don't think you can go wrong with either of them.
It’s not ‘removing a dimension’, they’re still 3D games, I also use headphones so the speakers don’t bother me. The different plastic ‘feels’ cheaper but it hides scratches so I think it’s justified. The new 2DS is the only 3DS sold directly from Nintendo’s website (refurbished), and I like buying directly from the company and not on eBay or other places (they have given me issues before which I won’t get into). Although the 3DS gives options, I don’t need that, I know what I want from a 3DS system and the new 2DS just has what I need, making the price lower. I know there ARE reason to get a new 3DS instead of the new 2DS but for me, it just wouldn’t make sense. But it’s a good quality video.
You bring up some great points. Thanks for sharing you views. I like that Nintendo made different models to suit all our different preferences. It seems like they made one that's tailor made for you
6:35 The circle pad always gives me handcramps after some time. I'm glad we have the circle pad, but a "true" analogue stick like on the Wii U GamePad or Switch is way more comfortable.
Most games weren't made with 3D in mind. More like they were the movies that had 3D applied to them after production because it was meant to be the next big thing.
I like our angle on this. Maybe that's right, but I'm pretty sure first party Nintendo titles were developed with the 3D effect in mind. Like a Link Between Worlds. You could be right though
I agree soundly with your assessment of the new 3DS systems being the definitive editions. Can’t decide which sits at the top between nor do I feel like that is a decision that needs to be made. I prefer them depending on my mood that day and the game I wanna play. That being said, I have never owned nor played on a 2DS. So I can’t truly knock it until I try it.
I just bought the blue one. I really wanted the purple one 😅 Oh, and let me add. I own the New 3ds XL and the Dpad on the 2Ds xl mops the floor with it. It's in fact even better than the Switch pro controller Dpad imo.
Yes, one drop onto a floating wood floor destroyed my grandsons new 2DS XL and he's heartbroken. We have been hunting for a replacement but people want an exorbitant price now for them. We just can't do it. He's disabled and doesn't understand why we can't just get one at the store.
That's very unfortunate. I hope you can find a replacement. If not, I'd suggest looking at a Switch Lite. They are relatively common to find in stores and have a very reasonably priced.
@@NeanderMeander he has one but he loves some of the games he played on the DS. I have the whole family watching for one. Eventually we will find one for him.
Hi there, I didn't expect you to release a video to talk about this problem and it's great one. Sorry if my comment is a bit agressive in old video you talked about these 2DS/3DS models thing. I have both system and they're all great. But there are always a certain things turn me off about the New 3DS XL, like the weight, the cheap color coating and yeah, the 3D (always hurts my eyes when I'm playing). That's why when the first time I have New 2DS XL in my hand, I feel like "this is the perfect system for me", and I can't stop using it since then, leave the New 3DS XL aside. I'm just found your channel recently and really enjoy your videos about Nintendo console in general. Hoping you keep uploading about them!!
Hey! You came back! Thanks for watching the video! No worries on the comment. I thought I’d use it in the video because it showed me how much people like the 2DS XL. It also made me question my original opinion about it. Sure enough, one I really sat down to play games on it, I really saw how great it is. So thank you!
I have the answer, No! Because a New 2DS XL is not technically a 3DS, it’s technically a 2DS. My favorite style for a (non limited) DS is on the New 2DS XL, Im getting a “New 3DS XL” because I found a good price
@@NeanderMeander I have figured out that the 3DS is gonna be best for me, but I like the design of the New 2DS XL, The New 3DS XL im getting has the purple Galaxy design
Awesome video! I definitely prefer the New 3DS systems to the New 2DS XL mainly because I love the 3D feature, but the New 2DS XL does feel nice to play and I like how light it feels. My biggest frustration with the New 2DS XL is that the battery life is a little worse than the New 3DS XL which was noticeable to me when I was switching between the two to determine which would remain my primary 3DS. Thank you for making 3DS content!
Totally agree! I should have mentioned the battery life. I noticed it too. I had it plugged often while I was playing it. It made me appreciate the charge port being located on the back of the console instead of the front like the Switch and Switch Lite. It's much easier to play while plugged in.
I wish I would of picked one up when Nintendo was unloading them, still I have 2 of the New 3DSXL and I absolutely love them. I was very sorry to see Nintendo give up on the platform. They finally got the 3D working great and the platform felt very personal- meaning it was your to play, not to share with everyone else like the Switch is.
I feel like with 3DS prices going up, if you just want to play 3DS games for as cheap as possible, the 2DS homebrewed is your best bet. I personally bought a New 2DS XL because I like the clamshell design and I got it for a cheaper price. I have my original 3DS XL which I will keep stock for all my cartridge games.
Man times really flies by its been 10 years that the 3ds came out and since as a kid i wanted that thing always still dont have it but i will get one soon i hope lol
Recently got a brand new NEW 2DS XL that someone had bought and never used when they were still being supported. I was looking to get a 3DS Capture Card, and NEW 2DS XLs are the only models supported nowadays. I got the card last week and I’m very happy with it now, but I haven’t transferred my system data over from my NEW 3DS XL, solely because of the lack of 3D effect. It’s something that I think is really important to the 3DS experience, and is why I’ve always seen the NEW 3DS XL as the definitive model (as much as I like the interchangeable plates on the regular NEW 3DS). It’s a bit of a conundrum for me, as I would also like to be able to record my digital games without making a new account and repurchasing them. I really enjoyed this video, it’s good to see someone with a similar perspective to me.
It's really nice to interact with people who share my same thoughts. The 3D effect really does add to the 3DS game play. I'd like to get my hands on a 3DS capture card. I've looked in the past, but I never ended up buying one.
@@NeanderMeander for sure! The majority of people I meet complain about the 3D effect, but I've never had any issues with it and use it pretty much all the time, so this was a bit of a breath of fresh air. I got my capture card at Merki, who do really clean installs and are located in Germany if you're interested. Honestly I was a bit worried (felt bad even) about sending off a brand new 3DS to be modded, but you literally wouldn't know the difference to look at it aside from the port. Super satisfied with it.
@@seandwalsh3 That's awesome! I just looked at their website and I just might go for it. It's a little expensive, but manageable. I think the perception about the 3D being bad is from people not giving it a chance. I get that it's not for everyone, but it seems like there are those out there that despise it for no reason.
You are one of the reasons I bought a New 3DS XL in the beginning of 2021, and I love this thing. We're all on the same side. Let's keep the 3DS family alive! Thanks for making this super underrated content.
@@NeanderMeander Haha, at first I was skeptical because I already own a Switch and even had an OG 3DS lying around, but I decided to get one before the prices started to skyrocket. I got a white one because I liked the clean aesthetic of it. I kid you not, I can barely find any more white N3DSXLs in the UK, so I might have pulled the trigger at the right time.
I got my N2DS in 2020 to replace my og 2DS that died on me. It was already being phased out, but still less than N3DS so I went with that. Plus, my glasses prescription gets stronger every year and I don't trust myself to limit the 3D if I bought a N3DS lol.
About 7 years ago, I moved out of my parents house into my own with my partner. During the move I threw away so much of my old childhood junk, things your parents make you keep but you don't really care about. At the time it wasn't a big deal, I'm moving into a new phase of my life I wanted to start it with less clutter. 7 years on, I've had the urge to play the original Pokemon on a handheld console, Ahh! I have an old 1989 Game Boy somewhere! I searched my house for days, couldn't find it! I finally came to the conclusion that I must have threw it away with my old 'junk' - I'm so upset with myself for getting rid of it and some of the awesome games I had. Luckily I did keep the only Pokemon game, Sapphire (I gave this to my partner to play on her GBA SP which she found before I moved out) Still so bummed I got rid of the GB - on the plus side I did just buy a GBA with an IPS screen off eBay for a steal $170AUD I dont know why I typed this nobody cares, but the first part of the video got me feeling like I wanted to type it out here.
Thanks for sharing your story! I did this same thing when I went to college. I thought I was too old for gaming so I got rid of just about all of it. Luckily I kept my Game Boy and some games. Other than that, it was all gone. I've been able to get most of it back. I've been very patient waiting for the perfect deals for each game and system.
The speaker placement, lack of 3D, and overall sloppier design are reminders that the New 2DS XL was the cheaper option on release. At $149.99, it was pretty cool for people who mysteriously hated 3D. But due to scarcity, it's now the MOST expensive option. Literally no one should get this as their primary 3DS now.
It's insane how much people are paying for them now! And they're used! I can wrap my head around 3DS prices in general. I went looking for a purple OG 3DS recently. There's noway I'm buying one right now.
If they had made the new 2DS XL have USB Type C and better displays it would’ve been a massive improvement for the system. The thing that sucks is that for the MSRP this system was launched for, they could’ve really done a lot better. I know it’s impossible now and was incredibly unlikely then but if the New 2DS XL had OLED displays then it would’ve been great to see. Yeah that would make the system a lot more expensive to produce, it could’ve been a major selling point for the system and I know I would’ve bought it in an instant. There’s a reason people still prefer the original vita over the slim and that’s because of the screen it had.
The weight on the new 2dsxl wins the day for me. The 3dsxl I have isn't heavy...for about an hour, or until you put it in your pocket. Also I play pretty much only Pokemon and classic games so the 3d is literally useless to me. You're right about the buttons and dpad as well, they feel super good. I also do homebrew and take my SD card out a lot, so the easy access is welcome I can't say I don't think about picking up a new 3ds when I see one for sale though...
Maybe I hold my New 3DS XL different, but I haven’t had an issue with the weight. I can see it being an issue for some people though. Have easy access to the SD card is really nice. I’m not sure why Nintendo thought it was a good idea to put it under the back cover of the New 3DS XL and New 3DS.
@@NeanderMeander it's not bad, the 2dsxl is just better. And really it's more about carrying it in a pocket where the 2ds is closer to phone weight and the 3ds starts to feel heavy, especially if I put it in the gym shorts I usually wear. The SD card location on the new 3ds is baffling though. Another interesting downside of the new 2ds is repairability. I've seen teardowns and they look much harder to mess with than the other models, especially the top screen
I really appreciate your willingness to revisit the subject and reassess your opinion. I respect your conclusion, but for me the 2DS family of consoles makes more sense, which ultimately is what matters in gaming. If you are getting maximum enjoyment from a device, then go with it. The 3D effect doesn't do much for me, so the 2DS gives me what I want and none of what I don't.
I really like playing on the New 2DS XL. It's quickly become one of my favorite handhelds. It has also taught me a valuable lesson; don't judge something before giving it a serious try.
Sorry but I completely disagree. I own a New 3DS XL and playing the 3D SEGA Classics with the 3D effect on is just an awesome experience. Those games were remade to specifically take advantage of the 3D effect. And boy did they did an amazing job. Playing games such as STREETS OF RAGE 1 and 2 in full 3D is an experience that cannot be had on any other console.
I completely agree! The 3DS has game experiences that you can't get form any other console. I've also never had any eye strain from the 3D turned on. I'm not sure what you are disagreeing with. I said in the video that I prefer the New 3DS XL over the New 2DS XL. I'm all for the 3D effect. I have the slider all the way up when I play. We're on the same team
2ds xl is amazing i actually think it feels the best quality then all the other models, but i will say the speaker placement is so bad i always cover it and hardly hear it compared to the other models. If i had to choose one i would pick the regular 2ds just because of the speaker location and a plus it feels the best to hold as well.
I disagree mang, it feels WAY cheaper to me than the n3dsxl. Not here to hate, I had the n2dsxl before I got the 3ds XL and I loved it. But the build quality feels significantly lower.
The origianl 2DS is pretty cool, but it only has one speaker on it. If it had two, I would like it a whole lot more. You can always use headphone to get stereo sound from it though.
I always used my 3DS XL for years, and finally grabbed a New 2DS XL and I love it! I still need to pick up a New 3DS XL to try out the head tracking, but that was my biggest gripe with the original 3D. Great video! Stop dropping your 2DS 😂
Yeah, the 3D on the old systems want all that great. But I love it on the “New” consoles. Though I have to admit, the 2DS XL is a great little handheld. My hands were all oily from making bread before I shot the video. The dang thing was so slippery! You should have seen how’s many pillows and blankets I had underneath it while I was dropping it. I didn’t want to cause any permanent damage.
The head tracking delay's when you move your head, but only in areas with too much light (cuz that option use infrared) is better in dark rooms, also, have a limit, the camera have troubles with glasses
I see what you mean, I had the blue 2ds xl but it felt like I would have enjoyed having a new 3ds clover it because of my nostalgia for the classic DS look and feel
My take is there is an extra texture layer in most cases with the 3d effect so without it the games look a little more bland. I don’t always play with 3d on but it’s something I have noticed
As a previous resident in Arizona, I had an issue with this model. The New 2DS XL has a problem with screen cracking under heat. Unfortunately my 2DS XL has been relayed out to being my Streetpass for my New 3DS XL. Luckily I got myself a New 3DS XP early enough that I got it for a great price used.
The weight and the "cheap" feeling make it better for actual gameplay and portability. You will be comfortable playing for long hours and you will not fear to scratch it when you store it.
I spent most of my playtime on the 3DS with games that were “designed” (apparently) around the 3D function, and I never thought that it added more than “that’s kinda cool” to any of them. In my opinion the 3D function was never more than a marketing gimmick that handicapped the console: in R&D, console price, and presumably in screen resolution.
I've heard this from many people. I think it's cool that there are those who don't like it and other's who prefer the 3D. I also think it's awesome that Nintendo anticipated this and included the 3D slider.
I have the og 3ds it’s pretty comfortable in my hands I bought it after selling my modded 2ds. I’m happy I did the smaller screens are great to me the XL model is too big for me. But my next 3ds model will be the new 3ds small version
I've owned nearly all the models at one point or another. Though to this day, I only kept the original 2DS. Specifically in terms of ergonomics and my paranoia regarding hinge-wear as these consoles get older. What's nice though about the DS/3DS line of consoles is that there's a model for everybody and any kind of preferred preference.
They have used a cheaper plastic, but also a lighter one it has to be said, so they have been able to reduce the weight further, that it hardly feels like you are holding the console in your hand.
some things of the NEW2DSXL if they are bad, the front camera and the rear cameras sometimes confuse you how high you need to direct the camera, if the speakers are not so loud and you can cover them with your hand, but their screens, controls and extras like the gyroscope respond so well, its screen makes the games look very good it even seems that scanlines are added to it, the console is perfect to play, if we know that it does not have the 3D effect, But without it, it makes the screen look even clearer and sharper, I have the white and orange version, I don't regret having it and continue playing on it, I know that the following comment is out of place, but if the console is modified via software and console games are played that it does not have officially, these still look more beautiful
You can turn off the 3d if you have it, but you can't turn on the 3d if you don't have. "3D"S is a unique system that cannot be replace, and 2ds game will be run on emulator on every smartphone on land.
I love Nintendo handhelds I’m general. As far as the NEW Nintendo 3DS versus the NEW Nintendo 2DS…. … Ultimately, I have to go with the NEW Nintendo 3DS, because I love having the option to use 3D if I choose to use it, but I love the design of the NEW Nintendo 2DS much better.
@@NeanderMeander - I can image how Nintendo would have handled the Nintendo 3DS and some of the games they published for it if the general public did not have such a bad perception of 3D. Super Mario 3D Land was a good representation of what creative 3D effects can be done.
@@NYCJoeBlack Agreed! The 3D effect on the original 3DS and the 3DS XL was pretty bad. I personally had a hard time keeping my head in the right spot without wavering out of that sweet spot. Especially when I was traveling. The "New" systems got it absolutely right! With the face tracking sensor, the 3D was very stable. I think if more people gave the New 3DS and New 3DS XL a try for more than a 5 minutes test, they would really like the 3D effect. It really does add to the games.
The production quality of this video is unreal for such a relatively small channel. Great video! I just got a 2ds xl recently and although I thought the stylus was uncomfortable at first but I figured it out and got comfortable with it. I don’t really care for 3d or the cameras so my only complaints really are the speaker placement and the lack of “advanced” features like connecting to wifi with both a username and password, more precise brightness settings, and bluetooth support which is also true for my prior original 3ds. Still enjoying it for the pokeymans tho :)
Thank you for watching the video! I'm glad you liked it! The 2DS XL surprised me after I gave it a real chance, instead of glossing over it like I had done previously. In no way is it a bad console. I actually really liked playing on it. Though, like I said in the video, I still prefer the New 3DS XL or the New 3DS. I'm one of the few that like the 3D effect.
I love the 2DS XL for god sakes I play it more than my Nintendo switch it is my first DS and only DS I don't have very many games but most of the games I have I really love especially Tomodachi Life that game is so great yet so stupid the only things I can complain about is the C stick and the audio on the speakers is really quiet so I always wear earbuds like I said it's my only DS so I don't know if this is common for every DS
Just got a black and blue 2dsxl for about 120, arrives any day now. Never owned one myself so to finally have a 3ds on the way is exciting. I'm mainly gonna play New Leaf and Mario Kart on it as I don't have my own switch. Admittedly yes I could have just bought my own switch at a cashies for the same price, hell there was a neon switch for the exact same price at the same cashies store, but I've never had a 3ds system and my family already has a switch so I can play switch games if needed
My biggest dilemma when I played my 2DS is whether to call it a "3DS" or a "2DS" when asked about it in public by friends or family who aren't into games. I ended up calling it a "3DS" even though it pained me a bit, because it pained me more to try and explain the naming scheme
I know, right? Nintendo and their console names. I would like to know what happened in the meetings where they decided what they would call them. Trying to explain the difference of the 2DS and 3DS is difficult for those that don't really know about them. I've tried to break it down simply in my videos, but I'm not sure I've done a great job of it.
I bought my Nintendo 2DS XL along with a physical copy of Pokémon Ultra Moon on Monday November 20th, 2017 from Gamestop. I was a Senior in high school at that time.
Can't believe I waited so long to get one. Once I did towards the end of life it quickly became my favourite handheld. Modded it not only makes for playing backups more easily. It also doubles as a great portable emulation system for playing older retro systems.
It’s the most ergonomic handheld in the 3DS lineup. I have all of them and I get handaches from all models except for the New 2DS XL. Why? Because the weight is in the bottom, not in the screen. The speakers weight is also shifted away from the top. The weight is in your hands instead of trying to hold the device from tilting forward (which is what you do with New 3DS XL)
The only thing that irks me about the N3DSXL is the location of the SD card. I really wanna know why they thought it was a good idea to tuck it under the back plate and require a screwdriver to access it! It's not a dealbreaker; it's still my favorite version of the 3DS and my favorite handheld console (even counting the Switch as a handheld), and I agree that including the option to use the 3D effect is more worthy of being 'definitive' than not having the option at all. Just...that SD card...ugh! At least it can be accessed wirelessly so it's not always necessary to be fiddling with it.
Yeah, I don't know what they were thinking with that decision. It's a terrible design. I rarely take mine out, so it's not that big of a deal for me. But I agree, what were they thinking?
The the 3d version is the best. The 3d effect is great and it also hides imperfection in games, it also makes the screen look bigger, hence a psudo 3rd screen is formed.
That is awesome! I remember those days. You could walk in and buy any console you wanted. They were readily available on the shelves.
The biggest reason I like the new 2DS XL is simply due to SD card placement
Now I don't have to literally unscrew the back of the console just to take out the SD
The SD card placement is so much better on the New 2DS XL. It's baffling that Nintendo decided to put the SD card under the back plate on the other "New" models.
@@NeanderMeander very much
At least, they have come to their senses, especially considering that the Switch has it under the kick-stand thingy.
i got rid of all of the screws on my new 3ds xl, so the most i have to do to swap/modify the SD is just slide the backplate off and it comes off like that. i agree it's annoying though
@@64bitmodels66 bruh
Its a rubber mechanical mechanism which can be fiddly and prone to breaking potentially one day but thats me being really picky with my tech. haha
another big issue i see with the 3ds and xl is the paint nintendo used seems to chip and peel off easily from just oily skin/sweaty hands. when looking online to buy one 2nd hand you will see this issue a lot unless they used the console with a case.
The 3DS got me back into gaming too! I’m glad I got the 2DS as it has some advantages over the 3DS consoles

This was really nice to read. I really try my best to put out informative videos. It’s good to see they are being watched by people like you.
It's amazing how there's a 3DS for just about everyone's preferred play style. That's great the New 2DS XL worked out for you.
45 minutes?! Holy hell. Some people, including myself, especially myself, cannot physically withstand that duration.
Glasses-free 3d on a handheld- this is an incredible innovation in video games and an amazing experience imo
@@NeanderMeander agreed, the original had a special premium feel that was not carried forward.
@@clouseau69 It definitely wasn't carried forward. I love the original 3DS! You hold it and it looks and feels like an expensive high quality device.
I have seen on a couple videos that people complained about the finish picking up finger prints an people hated it for that reason. I still have my go 3ds in aqua and I've always been happy with it.
@@philmunoz9269 I personally don't care about fingerprints, but I can see why it would bother someone.
I really like the 3D effect, it works very well, and it just adds another dimension. Still like my New 3DS XL. I wish they made a new 3D twin screen system with the latest tech. That would be my dream Nintendo handheld.
That would be a dream come true!
@Zenik Torres my thoughts exactly, make the top screen at least 500+ ppi and a bigger battery about 2500mh or 3000mh.
I got a N2DS XL recently for some other purposes and I must say: I love it
The system is sooo much lighter and makes playing longer very comfortable.
These are very good points! Thanks for sharing.
Playing racing games on the buttons feel more smooth and lite than the 3ds xl metalic buttons. But in my case my 3DS right move sticks gets broken.
This makes me want to buy a 2ds specifically for 2d games
Yeah it's the 1st party ones I've had issues with. Specifically with depth perception
Just bought a new 2ds xl and it's coming today. I'm so excited to finally play the castlevania ds titles as well as all the other wonderful ds/3ds titles that I never got the chance to play as a kid
That's so cool! I still need to play the DS Castlevania games. I just picked up two of them. Let me know what you think of them.
Yes! An OLED HD 3DS would be awesome! I'd even settle for a Switch Lite OLED
They'd better remove the black scanline effect as well. It really hurts my eyes.
So you mean the switch lite. Taking the 3d effect away is like saying the switch lite can switch to dock lol
@@louislondon4025 lol yeah the naming convention starts to not make sense once Nintendo takes away the feature that makes the product what it is haha
100% man
One huge weakness of the New 2ds xl is the upper screen... all other 3ds models including the original 2ds have a metal case that wraps around the back and sides of the screen itself, the New 2ds xl has no such metal back and sides which when dropped or even in some cases just push on a little too hard increases the likelihood of that top screen to crack.
Nice insight! I didn't even think about including that in the video. Maybe I'll do another video about it in year. That seems to be the spacing between my 2ds videos.
@@NeanderMeander great video man keep up the god work! 👌
the 2ds xl had a lot of cool limited editions. i bought the animal crossing edition myself. however, i don’t think i’d be using it as my main console. it feels too light and the top cover feels too delicate - i’m scared i’ll accidentally yank it off somehow or break it if i drop it. i do agree that it feels a bit cheap. i like the slim design though, it looks more modern than the 3ds. but i wish it had a bit of weight to it and was more sturdy.
I get nervous about it breaking as well. That's really the reason I haven't opened my Hylian Shield edition.
3DS XL is my favorite model. Always loved the Metallic Matte feel over the glossy New 3DS
That's awesome! It's a good little handheld
Dude I love the reverence you have for gaming and the language you use. Instant subscribe
Thank you! It's great hearing from people like you!
I think I like the New 2DS’s top screen is because it’s way lighter than the other 3DS model, so not only do I feel the hinge will be more durable, but I feel like it’s more form fitting because most of the weight is directly being held.
Good point!
Your cinematography is excellent.
Thank you! I'm glad you liked the video
the 2 things I dislike about the N2DS XL is how the stylus is designed, and where the audio slider is placed because I keep accidentally pushing up on it while playing games
I didn't have the issue with the volume slider. Though, looking at it now, I can see how it could be a problem.
I bought my 2nd XL in 2018, and still play it to this day 👍👍👍👍
Nice! Which color did you get?
A console that I love! I remember in my childhood that I always wanted a GBA, unfortunately my parents never had the money for it, now with the 2ds XL I bought it with my own money, It's almost like having a GBC, GBA and DS in one (I just hate the speakers, they are very badly located haha)
That's great! I'm glad you were able to get one. I don't like the speaker location either
I just picked up Xenoblade Chronicles! I'm excited to get going on it!
Amazing video for a channel with only 3000 subscribers, keep up the great work. :)
Thank you! I'm already filming another one right now. I'll hopefully have it up in a few weeks.
I didn't talk about that in the video, but you're right. The IPS displays look so much better!
The N3DSXL either had a TN or IPS screen (just like the 3DS, 3DS XL and N3DS) so that's not a big deal.
Totally agree! Though, I'd still pick up that Pikachu edition.
@@NeanderMeander I have it since it was the only model I found late 2019
I think the weight distribution is better on the 2DS XL for long play sessions compared to the 3DS XL models. You can feel the weight of the top screen much more on the New 3DS XL, and the 2DS XL is about 1/3 lighter overall.
But it's not enough to make the New 3DS XL a bad experience by any means.
I agree with you. The 2DSXL is lighter and easier to play for longer periods of time. I enjoy playing on both
The 3DS XL is actually sightly bigger and it's a bit more comfortable to hold, IMO.
I've heard that it's difficult to repair the New 2DS XL. I haven't attempted a fix, but I can imagine how difficult it is.
No chance
@@sonnyrynsaard3567 Good point! That a good way to think about it.
i just love the aesthetic of it. the screen size just feels right. i always felt a little silly playing a 3ds xl so the size of the 2ds xl feels nice. and the standard editions were super cool. i love the little pop of color with the edge and buttons. super cool
It's slightly smaller than the New 3DS XL. I'd say the weight is the biggest difference. The New 2DS XL is much lighter.
It does feel really nice! I'm a big fan of it as well.
It seems like they made one that's tailor made for you
I appreciate any video that reminds me of how awesome the 3DS line was
It's definitely awesome!
6:35 The circle pad always gives me handcramps after some time. I'm glad we have the circle pad, but a "true" analogue stick like on the Wii U GamePad or Switch is way more comfortable.
Agreed. Though I thought it was really awesome to have something thin like that incorporated into the the 3DS.
Great content, as always 🥺
Thanks for coming back!
@@NeanderMeander you deserve more subs
Btw I have the Pikachu edition of this console but I'm so jealous of that hylian shield one
That Pikachu editon is so awesome! I'm mad at myself for not getting more when they were released
I'm glad you agree. Many people don't agree with what I said. There are some die hard New 2DS fans out there.

3:30 I dont mind the speakers at the bottom cuz i usually play with headphones
That's the best way to play!
I have the answer, No! Because a New 2DS XL is not technically a 3DS, it’s technically a 2DS.
My favorite style for a (non limited) DS is on the New 2DS XL, Im getting a “New 3DS XL” because I found a good price
My favorite is the New 3DS XL by a long shot. It's by far the best feeling 3DS in my opinion. I also like the New 3DS.
Couldn't agree more! I also wish I would have picked up a few more when they were around the $100 price.
It's crazy how much 3DS prices have gone up. I remember when nobody cared about it and I was picking them up for like $30.

Those are some good reasons!
I remember them always being out of stock of 3ds xl....no matter the cost or how much they had in stock they always sold out fast.
It's crazy how popular they got! Did you end up getting one?
Luckily I did keep the only Pokemon game, Sapphire (I gave this to my partner to play on her GBA SP which she found before I moved out)
Still so bummed I got rid of the GB - on the plus side I did just buy a GBA with an IPS screen off eBay for a steal $170AUD
I dont know why I typed this nobody cares, but the first part of the video got me feeling like I wanted to type it out here.
I think the New 3DS models look more premium, and New 2DS XL looks simple and fun
Yeah, I agree with you! Both are great
I love the original 2nd “wedge” shape. I wish I could get the newest hardware into a wedge shell.
I didn’t like it at first, but it slowly grew on me. I I actually quite like it now.
Well any displays at the time of the New 2DS XLs release would’ve been an improvement
I would have loved a display change! OLED would have been amazing
Do yourself a huge favor and buy a lanyard for your 2DS/3DS systems. It will prevent those accidental drops.

@@NeanderMeander it's like a seat belt, I never use my 3ds without it.
I also do homebrew and take my SD card out a lot, so the easy access is welcome
I can't say I don't think about picking up a new 3ds when I see one for sale though...
@@ATSaale I've never had to open any of mine up for repair. I've seen a few videos and it doesn't look fun.
Totally agree. The 3D is superb on the 3DS XL.
@@jinxedpenguin i think i would get the 3ds xl over the 2ds xl just cas the speaker location lol
The slab is my favorite to hold as well. So fricken comfortable
@@NeanderMeander I need some HFR shots of 2DSs softly landing into pillows now!
Oh man, now I do too! Do you think I can red a RED today?
The head tracking delay's when you move your head, but only in areas with too much light (cuz that option use infrared) is better in dark rooms, also, have a limit, the camera have troubles with glasses
I see what you mean, I had the blue 2ds xl but it felt like I would have enjoyed having a new 3ds clover it because of my nostalgia for the classic DS look and feel
They are all great consoles. I personally prefer the New 3DS and New 3DS XL, but the New 2DS XL was not bad at all. It has its hardcore fans.
My take is there is an extra texture layer in most cases with the 3d effect so without it the games look a little more bland. I don’t always play with 3d on but it’s something I have noticed
I’ve noticed that too. It smooths out the jagged edges, making the images look a little cleaner.
Wow! Really? I've never heard of that happening. That's too bad
The weight and the "cheap" feeling make it better for actual gameplay and portability. You will be comfortable playing for long hours and you will not fear to scratch it when you store it.
Good points!
im really happy i was able to get the pikachu model complete in box at a decent price, those things are selling for so much now
Prices are out of hand right now! That's great you got one before the madness
That is really nice! Somebody can get one that suites their needs. There aren't many consoles out there that have done that.
Whoa... I really proved myself incorrect didn't I?
They have used a cheaper plastic, but also a lighter one it has to be said, so they have been able to reduce the weight further, that it hardly feels like you are holding the console in your hand.
It's definitely lighter! Which is a good thing.
some things of the NEW2DSXL if they are bad, the front camera and the rear cameras sometimes confuse you how high you need to direct the camera, if the speakers are not so loud and you can cover them with your hand, but their screens, controls and extras like the gyroscope respond so well, its screen makes the games look very good it even seems that scanlines are added to it, the console is perfect to play, if we know that it does not have the 3D effect, But without it, it makes the screen look even clearer and sharper, I have the white and orange version, I don't regret having it and continue playing on it, I know that the following comment is out of place, but if the console is modified via software and console games are played that it does not have officially, these still look more beautiful
Yeah, it's a good little handheld!
You can turn off the 3d if you have it, but you can't turn on the 3d if you don't have. "3D"S is a unique system that cannot be replace, and 2ds game will be run on emulator on every smartphone on land.
Absolutely! It's such a unique console! It's be impossible to replicate in the future.
I mean, you can still play 3ds games on there, just without the 3d "effect"
My turquoise/black New 2ds xl is my favorite Nintendo system I own.
It's a good looking console! One of my favorites too
I love Nintendo handhelds I’m general.
It has a really nice design, but I'm also choosing an option that give me 3D. I'm one of the few that actually like the 3D effect.
You need 3d effect in metroid games, so you can fell how beautiful the backgrounds is and see all secrets
Samus Returns is fantastic in 3D! I recommend that everybody play it with the 3D on.
The New 2DS XL is a really good console. I've played many games on it. I holds up very well against the others.
That's really cool! I hope you like it. You'll have to let me know what you think when it arrives.
I wish I got into handheld gaming sooner since the prices now are so high
They are crazy high! I never would have thought a 3DS would sell for as much as they are right now.
I love how sleek it is.
It is very sleek. It feel great to play too
My biggest dilemma when I played my 2DS is whether to call it a "3DS" or a "2DS" when asked about it in public by friends or family who aren't into games.
7:40 Does the button on the Pokéball one do something?
Nope. You just a button that can be pressed.
I just got a 2DS XL in 2020 and another one in 2021. Never had a 3DS or Vita. I grew up with Game Boys and PSP. Been playing a lot of Pokemon games.
My first handheld was the original Game Boy. I dabbled with the PSP and Vita, but jumped head first into the 3DS when it released.
I bought my Nintendo 2DS XL along with a physical copy of Pokémon Ultra Moon on Monday November 20th, 2017 from Gamestop. I was a Senior in high school at that time.
Awesome! Do you still have it?
@@NeanderMeander I still have it Eventhough they discontinued the 3DS line on Wednesday September 16th, 2020.
@@benniemorris4872 That’s awesome!
Can't believe I waited so long to get one. Once I did towards the end of life it quickly became my favourite handheld. Modded it not only makes for playing backups more easily. It also doubles as a great portable emulation system for playing older retro systems.
It's a great little handheld!
This is a really good point. The top screen is crazy light! It is a really comfortable handheld to play
