Elizabeth of York, Queen consort of Henry Tudor First of his line was never betrayed. It’s just fiction to make the show more dramatic Even Clarice, wife of Lorenzo was never betrayed. They never had a dream romantic relationship but they had mutual respect and understanding which meant they were both loyal and dutiful. Lucrezia and Lorenzo had a platonic relationship So yeah.... not every queen was betrayed
hellokafkiana I wasn’t complaining about the fact that she was in the video. I was just pointing out that she was in no way a queen because the person included her in the all queens were betrayed comment. She was queen maybe in power/influence but not by title.
Ever since I heard the quote “Watching someone you love share their body with another poisons the heart” in your series of betrayed queens. I have been hooked on ALL of your videos ♥️♥️♥️
Catherine's quotes ARE ALWAYS THE BEST, what an iconic character, I'm forever grateful to Megan Follows! Thank you very much for your support and kindness
There is this Brazilian show, called Novo Mundo ( it means "New World") and one of the main couples is Leopoldina and D. Pedro I, and Leopoldina is definetely a betrayed queen. I love her so much and I would love it of you could include them in one of your betrayed queens videos. I watch all of them, by the way. They are actual pieces of art!
I absolutely love this series of edits! They are absolutely wonderfully done! 😊 And honestly, it's a shame that women throughout history have been treated so badly - even those who were born to rule their countries. Not to mention all the obnoxious double-standards that are applied to women, who freely get insulted and shamed and what not for going after what they want, while men can get away with just about anything. 😒
YES! The double-standards (also today) are terrible. Like ambition, it's believed to be a good trait in men, but terrible in women! Thank you for your kindness
@@hellokafkiana You're very welcome! Yeah, unfortunately even today, it's so annoying! Also, same with confidence... It's honestly an outrage that even in the 21st century men keep trying to put women down with insults and shaming, just because they can't handle women who are strong, independent, confident and intelligent. 😒
In Scandal there was a line I adored "A woman in power is a nasty woman, a woman who needs to be put in her place" and I think it describes perfectly this huge issue, still persistent even in our modern society
This is such a lovely video and love the subject of it! :D This song fits these ladies so well (albeit even if they are getting cheated on by their spouses :( )
hellokafkiana I have, Isabell of Castile/ Beatriz de Osorio and Ferdinand of Aragon, Tv show Isabel. Or also from Isabel Joanna of Catille/ many women and Phillipe duke of Burgundy. Then Cleopatra/ Octavia and Marcus Anthony. And Catherine of Great/ noble woman from Russia and Peter of Roman from Jekaterina , Mária Theresa/ Madame de Montespan and Luis XIV from Versailles (Even though I don't like this show). And The last one Hurrem sultan/ other women and Sulleiman The Magnificent from Magnificent Century. Just a couple of suggestions.
Love these videos, really :) interesting choice of love triangle (i know this is not true for 100 % but you understand). I think in case of Henry VII and Kathy Gordon, he did it because he wanted to humiliate Perkin, but nothing more. In case of Richard I don't know but I also heard that he wanted to humiliate Henry Tudor (because she was his fiance) but also I heard that he really wanted to marry her. Edward and Jane Shore, here I am more on Edward side because I believe Elizabeth manipulated him a lot. Henry VIII is just Henry VIII. Henry II and Diana, he felt in love with her when he was really young. And Lorenzo he was already in love before marriage and marriage with someone another doesnt automatickly delete love. But as I said, very good video that is just my point of you and I like discussions also :)
Thanks darling, I'm glad you appreciated my video! Then of course I know that Henry VII never cheated in real life but I love the parallel of Elizabeth of York watching her husband with another and Anne Boleyn doing the same... from that same throne!! Also real life Richard III probably never had any intention of marrying his niece, but still I appreciate the parallel of Elizabeth being the mistress and then becoming the betrayed wife.... Edward instead had many mistresses in his life but Elizabeth Shore (Jane was not her name actually and was never referred as such during her lifetime) was different because he valued her opinion, so in a way this was a huge betrayal for his wife... but I agree Elizabeth Woodville was a greedy and manipulative woman, but beyond that I do not judge her relationship with Edward, since I believe there are not enough evidence to do so. Talking about Henry, he II surely loved his mistress Diane a great deal, but at the same time he had 10 children with his wife, which means that he actually liked to have them both regardless of their feelings on the matter. Lorenzo instead probably never slept with Lucrezia (she was his muse, not his lover), and at the same time he never loved Clarice in a passionate way but also these two had 10 children together, which proves that despite not having much in common a living apart for quite some time, they still liked each other and from their letters is clear that they also cared about each other. Finally I just wanted to repeat that I do not edit these "Betrayed Queens" videos to spread hate for one character or another, both wife and mistresses had little choices back then and truth to be told also the husbands were often trapped in difficult situations... But this does not change the fact that these triangles were painful for all those involved
hellokafkiana Yeah you are right, her name wasnt Jane, but she was called Jane in Tv show so I remembered it bad 😂 also read about that she was special for him in some way but I believe his love for Elizabeth was big :) I have never thought about these paralel between Anne and Elizabeth really funny that is great 😂 I don't know much about Henry II but he was a King so that is why he had so many children with Catherine (children were often dying in young age). And Lorenzo, Yeah also heard than he didn't sleep with Lucrezia (but nobody knows) but I just love the idea that this Tv Shows ruined. I hoped that Lorenzo (tv show Lorenzo) didn't give up Lucrezia because how they showed it together in episode one i liked them together a lot. But no, I don't have anything against Clarice but... Just wanted him to stay loayal to his heart. And I like Clarice more with Carlo he is so cute 😂 Your videos are really great, please continue :)
well no... Even as a King Henry II had many children, two/three male heirs were considered enough back then but still he continued fathered children with Catherine, which shows that he liked to have both his mistress and his wife (plus random lovers, he was never the faithful kind), and everything was allowed to a King, so Catherine and Diane had to accept it and endure it... And then... I actually still believe that Lorenzo (real life Lorenzo) never "loved" either of them (Lucrezia and Clarice)... But maybe I'm pessimistic :)
Henry was the one who wanted Anne to become his mistress so she chose to be his queen rather than his mistress as you couldn't say no to a king in those times. While Anne was engaged to marry Henry percy at that time .Henry was the one who betrayed his wife. Henry wanted a son and Catherine was too old to be pregnant so he still would have replaced her with someone else if not Anne and he also thought that he had sinned by marrying his brother's widow so queen Anne was just a victim of Henry's just like his other wives and subjects
anne actually didn't had the choice. you we're chased by a king, what could you even do? henry betrayed all of his wives, he was a murderer. at this time, power was everything, life was hard for women. her family pushed her, the king pushed her, and everyone actually hated her. would you be capable to live with all that pressure? i don't think so. being a woman by that time was hard. she was manipulated by henry and by her own family. i'm facinated with how she would undle all that stuff.

Clarice was the wife of a man who ruled over an independent state. She was de facto a queen.
