    Awesome list, thanks for making this video and for the shout-out! Violent Run, Lucky and Wild, and Split Second Velocity were new ones to me. I also like Vigilante 8 more than the Twisted Metal games so totally agree with that.
    Besides the all-out combat racers and arena combat games, there's also a bunch that are mission-based or even sort-of RPGs, and I love those too. Some ones to check out: Car Battler Joe (GBA), Interstate '76 series (PC), Hard Truck Apocalypse (PC), Autoduel (C64 and more), RoadKill ( GameCube, PS1). And for more recent games, Mad Max and Rage 2 are both brilliant.

      Twisted Metal 2 - best driver/vechicle roster
      Vigilante 8 - many possibilities

      You can't go wrong with any of these games if you like the genre.

    Matey awesome upload, I appreciate all the memories you brought back for me when I saw some of these games. Supercars 2 when I finally got hold of my own coffee I played that thing for bloody days . And as sad as it may seem when it comes to chase HQ just the title screen graphics used to blow my friends minds when they would come over and see the colourful picture on the screen. Don’t don’t even get me started on Mario karts me and my friend was so competitive for a solid year there that we were stripping .01 seconds off each other’s lap times until I got down to the point where it was just impossible to beat. And PS1 destruction Durby we actually took my mates PS1 down to the local arcade and the owner (our friend ) let us set it up on the TV next to the counter and as we were regulars we knew pretty much everyone that would come and go in that place so we would charge them $.50 to try the last one minute in destruction Derby and if they could we would give them $1 . I’m not sure what mode or level it was but all I know is we made a lot of money doing that. It might not of been a lot of money now but back then we were making $20-$30 an hour by letting people play that game while we were playing other games in the arcade👌🏻😁👊🏻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻

    Great list mate. So many memories as this was one of my favorite genres. Carmageddon wasn't as much banned in the UK as adapted. The pedestrians were changed to zombies, and the blood was replaced with green ooz. This allowed it's release until the action against it was over-turned, and a "blood patch" was released through magazine disks. The modern remake is awesome btw :) One you missed is Overlander. Much like Roadblasters but heaps better. Had and enjoyed it on both Spectrum and Amiga. Great game.

    Great list as usual but I was surprised not to see Combat Cars for Megadrive on there, which for me is one of the best top down racers ever.
    As for Split Second, I absolutely loved it when it came out on PC. Unfortunately it came out the same time as Blur, which had a massive marketing campaign touting it as Mario Kart for adults and inevitably won out. I bought both, and Split Second is the only one I still play today.

    I can't help noticing the black sky in Burnout 3, which is a problem with PCSX2's emulation. Luckily, there's an easy fix for that. While you're in the menus, press F9 before you actually start an event. This will switch to software rendering. Start the event and once it's done loading and the event starts, press F9 again to switch back to hardware rendering. You only need to do this once and it will stay fixed for that session. This also works in Burnout Revenge and Burnout Dominator. Strangely, it also works to fix the missing graphics in a game called Portal Runner.
    Oh, if you notice a ghosting/double image effect with the graphics in Burnout, go into the Video plugin settings, enable hacks and set the "skipdraw" to 3 or more and that should fix it. I'm still using 1.4.0 (old system), so the newer versions may have changed where it's located.

    I loved Vigilante 8: 2nd Offense on the Dreamcast but I only ever played it in Arcade Mode and would use cheats that made it a lot more chaotic.
    You can never go wrong with Mario Kart, lots of memories of playing Double Dash with my sister even though she wasn't really in to games and I don't remember ever playing any other games with her. I used to love playing Mario Kart Wii online with friends too.
    Burnout 3 is just pure gaming perfection.
    Split/Second on 360 is one of the few games I've ever 100% finished, those time trials are absolutely brutal. It's such a shame the sequel got canned after that ending.
    Blur is another game worth checking out, it's criminally overlooked and underrated but loads of fun.
    Also quick mentions to the FlatOut series, Lego Racers, Re-Volt, Street Racers and while I've not played it a lot Crossout is a lot of fun.

    i used to play this combat racing game which also had an option for multiplayer. The game was played on zsnes or kgen emulator on pc. Snes or sega genesis. It's an overhead racing laps game similar to biker mice from mars. The vehicles or players were hippie school bus driver , ice cream truck, scientist etc. Also had weapons we could use by running over a blue spot. Sometimes were chased by a dinosaur, or getting smashed by a huge gorilla at the side of the road. Can anyone name it?

      I've been racking my brains over this one, I have a semi-respectable knowledge of games from this era, and the only thing I can come up with is maybe one of the Micro Machines games, or maybe a more obscure title that's exclusive to Japan like Battle Cross or something.

    • @FrozenVision11
      @FrozenVision11 3 года назад

      Yea, I've looked all over, most people recommend twisted metal, but it's not. The memory is so clear when i played it back in the snes era.... and I've watched more than 40 hours of youtube videos on all snes games, still am unable to find it. I've played it on both emulators zsnes98 and kgen98.

    • @thegreathadoken6808
      @thegreathadoken6808 3 года назад

      @@FrozenVision11 When you say you played it on those two emulators you are narrowing it down considerably, except I still can't figure out what it is. You mentioned weapons or power ups by running over blue spots. A game called Power Drive has that set up, and was out for SNES and Mega drive, and had isometric graphics akin to Biker Mice From Mars. Unfortunately, I don't ever recall seeing giant gorillas or dinosaurs in that rather realistic rally game.
      Can you give any other info that might help? What were the graphics like? The music and sound? Were the colours cartoonish? Muted? Pastelle-shaded? Was the SNES version of the game different from the Megadrive version? If so, in what ways?
      Anything at all could help.
      Also, if you're watching those long videos that show every game and not seeing it, to me that says one of two things;
      Either, you're misremembering this game in some way or another. Maybe it came out in the arcade, or maybe you misremember which emulators you played it on (this doesn't seem likely to me, you seem quite specific about the emulators you played it on and I have no reason not to believe your memory is correct)
      Or the game in question possibly came out for the Japanese or EU markets but not the US markets, or maybe for the US but not the EU markets, or perm any combination possible therein. A lot of these videos, most of them probably, focus only on the games released in North America and they treat games that did not get a release there as if they didn't exist, which means great classic games like The Firemen often go without a mention in such compilations.
      I'm therefore led to suspect as a distinct possibility that this game came out in the EU or Japan, but not the US in the case of both the Megadrive and Super Nintendo.

      @@thegreathadoken6808 I asked my brother too, we remember it distinctively, it was a lot similar to biker mice from Mars, some of the characters which i remember were a mad scientist, a school bus driven by hippie, an ice cream truck etc.. i don't remember the other characters as i usually picked the bus and my brother, the mad scientist... also the cars could get squashed, and when running over a blue or 3 arrow shapped sign you could get abilities like speed up or some weapons like a rocket, you could take out the opponent in front of you with. It was catoonish. The colors were like a combination of muted or somewhat pastel depending on the next level of maps. I'm trying hard to remember... I've also looked through the neogeo games or other emulators to see if i was mistaken, but i know it 100 percent that i first played it on a kgen98 emulator then zsnes98 emulator which now has been upgraded to snes emulator. I've been looking for this game for several years, and i think your right, it might have been a Japanese or a different release, which is why i can't see it in the videos uploaded on RUclips because they didn't add them. Every few months i start look for it again, and it drives me insane.....

    quite a predictable list, there were some games i'd never heard of and some where i said to myself, omg how did i forget that one, turbo charge was a great game and i think it was made to say, look outrun programmers you can make a good racing game on the c64, speed rumbler was one where i said omg and made me think, that could have been a precursor to GTA or where they got the idea for it
