@@MrPatrickbuit True. Has the tools but can't string it together mentally which is a shame. Especially during the 2010-2012 stretch, he had openings there but after some winnable big match losses, it didn't seem like he make the mental adjustment to learn and keep goimg, but instead let it deflate him...
Very true!!! If only he could play every point, every shot with the same passion and effort as what drives him on the "impossible shots", he'd be unbeatable! There is something about the very difficult challenges that really drives him! Amazing natural talent!
There's such a depth of talent on the tour! Most people don't realize the level of skill that is required to make even the top 500 in the world... the top 100 are, like, monsters! This shows the tour has so much more to offer than Fedal, Nole and the tiring GOAT discussion... But then again, the ATP itself is at fault for marketing, like, 3-4 players, milking the hell out of it, and then realizing that these 3-4 players can't and won't be around forever. Federer at 37, an ailing Rafa... last train home, ATP ;) Imagine if Fedal had stopped playing 5 years ago. No NextGen, no Fedal... Tennis would have fallen into oblivion. So it would be great to see more supposedly "unheralded" players (though Haase is far from being unheralded) getting some credit through this channel!
There is a specific squash shot Haase hits against Roddick that I was looking for this morning, which then brought me to this video. I forgot the treasure trove of incredible shots this man hit during his career. What and entertaining player.
5:55. Best point from his career. The problem is his mentality. With a better mentality he would have gained more ATP-Titles and would have shined in at least a few Grand Slams-tournaments.
Played his brother a couple of years ago. He was actually the bigger talent of the 2 (source: his earliest trainer) but decided to pursue a business career. Guy played like 2 or 3 matches a year as stand-in and beats everyone easily at least NTRP7.0 level. Needless to say I lost bigtime (me= NTRP5) though he went easy on me.
A player who has serious talent and has underachieved big time.
You can say that about a lot of players in the top 50. Haase is not strong mentally, and that cost him.

@@BrotherTree1 He has some serious talent but he lacks the baseline game to be consistent on those middle slow surfaces .
BrotherTree1 he was a talented junior back in the day . There was big expectations
I wouldn't say he underachieved, he was consistently top50 for years. ATP top50 is basically wizard status
Happy birthday Robin!
Wow. Never knew this guy was so entertaining. I enjoyed these highlights so much
Haase is the Master of executing the most low percentage shots when pushed to the limit!

Holy crap... now those are highlights ! Best of anyone.
Need more like this guy
Underrated player!
Some of the best defensive skill on the entire tour! Happy birthday Robin!
That last forehand... geez it looked fast even in slow motion.
Love Haase, he's such a showman

In fairness, they win everything. 2 years later it's still the case

I've got to pay more attention to this guy, didnt realise he was so entertaining!
Seems like Haase has really mastered the forehand on the run -shot.
Happy Birthday flyman
I love haase I've been a fan of his for a while. It's a shame he hasn't won much throughout the years even though he has the talent for it.
Yeah same - first came to my attention when he took a set off Nadal at Wimbledon years ago....such a talented player
Happy birthday!
Haase kinda reminds me of lil dicky

The GOAT
3:48 they give Del Potro the point 😆
Thought it was a one time only shot at 3:20, but then 4:50 finishes with similar BH to FH fake shot!
