Great show, stop hating on the show when it won. Either just saltiness at losing or you don’t see how well the show flows. May be simple but they executed it amazingly
@@moonliteproductions2353It goes to show just how much potential this show. It's not the most difficult but it is quite difficult yet achievable. Vandegrift does it well. Not many bands could take spotlight and perform it the way Vandy does
@@user-ml2re8ek7b it seems like a difficult show to me idk what ur saying. i feel the same way about Carmel, their stuff is actually hard it just always sound so cool and flashy and have that fan favoritism like Hebron or Avon
The music is fine I’m just disappointed with the drill. The spacing and cover downs weren’t achieved well. Maybe it was just a bad run visually but that was the only complaint I had. Still a great program tho!
My problem with this show is not that it's bad or anything, but it seems...generic. It seems like just another 6a marching show. Nothing about spotlight stands out(ironic) congrats on State and San antonio, but Idk if the scores were deserved, and I certainly do not believe it is a record breaking show. Just my opinion, good job Vandy
Designers have figured out the formula that allows for consistent high scoring shows. It's why the Blue Devils win every year while sounding generically like "yet-another-blue-devils-show". Until the judges start awarding different designs (e.g. more exciting drill, more emphasis on musicality over loud homorhythmic stabs and MORE-16ths-AT-ALL-COSTS woodwind features) they will keep doing the same things every year.
Not really sure how this performance got 1st in State. I mean it was fine but very forgettable. The marching was fine but again just too much follow the leader EZ stuff. The fact they have a lot of players should not give them 1st.
I just watched the whole dang thing again just for you. And I stand by my comment. Simple as heck moves. Way too many body visuals. March. Stop. Play. March. Stop. Play. No risk in their performance. Not a memorable performance. They didn’t raise the bar. They didn’t deserve 1st. Sorry not sorry.
No kidding really. How about offering your own thoughts versus just stating the obvious that the judges lapped it up. Anyway I just watched Marcus and Hebron and their performances had far more complexity and risk, which should be rewarded when it’s executed well (as it was). Again I stand by my original post. Someone tell me I’m wrong with some honest reasoning.
That flute solo was beautiful

it was good but just alright when compared to Hebron or Marcus
...its growing on me
Anyone else see the trumpet fall at @2.48
When I heard them playing creeks for the ballad I started getting senior year ptsd, our show that year was…something
Centennial
the real best show of 2023
One of the best* >:)
@@825.mp4One of the most mid >;)
3rd best.
Hebron and Marcus take 2nd and 1st
They are that up. They did not come to play.
They had some very muddled moments. Botched runs and executions. But then they had some very very strong moments.
Yet they won BOA and UIL

as much as how dirty it was, it still deserved to win state
@@moonliteproductions2353 wasn't a good performance and the show wasn't very hard visually or musically.
@@moonliteproductions2353 They didn't even place in 2023. Avon won BOA :)
Might as well just rename this school Bandegrift lol
I never seen a show so mixed for winning State as this one. I honestly wanna know why people think this?
because the score is a bit overhyped, lots phasing problems at 2:40, and the level of difficulty is low.

@@nolansawyer2229 it should. And the drill should be the most complex and the music performance should push the envelope
Vandy no-bar-lunge IMPOSSIBLE CHALLENGE
Remind me of Owasso band in OK.

drill is horrible. They gotta fix that and get a new designer. 1990's want's its drill back.

@@willymammoth539 it's really bad drill. Looks MUCH better this year.
@@willymammoth539 seriously, don't you think a band that plays like Vandy deserves better drill?

I need a better mix to really feel and read but I really like what I see.
Are they missing a person or is the spacing on the woodwinds off?
most likely missing a person
This did not deserve to break Boa SA record over Secret World
Am I correct? Are they playing hinnom tx by bon iver
Creeks

Should’ve placed 2nd.
Totally agree.
Yeah Marcus should’ve gotten 1st
It should have been Hebron first, then Marcus
Actually it should have been Vandegrift, but go off I guess.
more like 4th

Well they got it at both UIL and State, obviously the judges saw something in this phenomenal show

@@silkbutterfli9437the marching was dirty, the woodwinds seemed to be playing significantly better than the brass
tbh this isn't clean enough to even get top 3 at state let alone win
