This was one of the luckiest saves I have seen regarding helis. Remember that coaxials cannot fly fast against the air. If it was wind there, it would be over. Plus the supposedly metal frame of the ship impedes the signal. If you had FM, the heli would fail readily. The fishing line idea is a fail, but you might consider attaching those orange inflatable floats for models.

i flew mine way in the air like that and it crashed on the other side of this huge school when the air caught it. took me 2 hours to find and it was mangled. i can't believe that thing made it back to the boat!!!
Having the balls to do that takes some doing, unless you didn't mind losing it to the sea ;))) Nicely done, I'm sure I speak for a few cx2 owners when I say I held my breath.

OH MY GOD... I can't believe the blades didn't snap with all that unstable wind- my Blade CX would snap when I tried giving it even the slightest of extreme movement.
Yeah! There is no way that the air was so absolutely still that a safe return was possible. My theory was different. I assumed CGI. I'm just joking. It is just having such optimal conditions is rare. It was a great flight.
