Doom has been my most favorite game since I was 4 (I’m 32 now). I can’t tell you how many hours of my life I’ve poured into it and the countless community-made wads over the years. It’s a huge part of my life. I was telling my wife the other day I would be more star-struck if I ever met zeromaster than if I ever met any famous celebrity on the planet. Zeromaster, you are my hero, dude! Congrats on single-segmenting every level in Sunder.
I liked Doom as a kid in the 90's but rediscovered it in my 30's now as well and over the past few years have been astonished by how much creativity their still is in the space. I love games that have fan made content communities and games from the 90's/early 00's are loaded with them. It's great. Also yes Zeromaster is awesome.
Same, started playing this as a kid and still play it today on my 30s. It is fun, fast paced action with an interesting enemy roster that a lot of A titles these days are still unable to copy.
@@ravagerslb Imo shooters really started going downhill in the mid 00's. Everything turned into CoD, things like graceful movement and weapon variety went out the window. Doom, Quake, Unreal Tournament, Painkiller, other similar titles are far superior to modern shooters, even the Doom reboots.
@@estefencosta1835 Doom had that single player immersive experience to it. It brought completely new elements. It also has mod longevity (that is key) with community maps still pushing boundaries to this day. These newer games strive for multiplatform and in turn sales/profit. You can't mod something like CoD to Doom type level without sacrificing hardware support. CS:GO had some promise but Valve kept fcking it up with updates. Hopefully, there will be another PC FPS which is can be modded like crazy.
Started mapping a bit recently and have ribbiks & IG as my influences. I've come to appreciate how genuinely hard it is to make such alien and hostile architecture. I think the amount of DOOM mappers who can do work of this magnitude are very very limited and usually owe their art style to the two afore-mentioned geniuses

@AshleyRiot That's not the biggest deal, Zero Master has spent a lot of time speedrunning terrible levels. I know ZM has expressed no interest, but I'd love to see him do the damn thing now that Coincident has mapped out such a plausible gameplan.
Victory lap of the final arena was awesome. Zero knew at that point that he'd single segmented the entire WAD. Loved these Sunder runs, I hope Gazebo plans to eventually develop it to a full 32 map set.

Tarachillax is actually impossible I think, and every fight is basically impossible without TAS, so the only option would be cheeses, but it doesn't look like you even have enough time to survive in any fights in tarachillax to even cheese
love the turquoise-aqua lighting, shades n tints on walls, floors and windows with the shapes and patterns through it. it really looks stylish and imposing at the same time, and matches the transporter energy, torch fire and fireballs of the hell knights and barons rather perfectly
Sometimes when I watch you I think, "I can do some of that, maybe!" But then I hurt myself in E1M9 when I try to use rockets at the star teleporter against the Pinkies.
Best thing to control pinkies is the chaingun. Im surprised this guy didn't use it. In that spot in Military Base id use the chaingun or chainsaw, you just have to be quick about switching the weapon when you get the RL.
just when I needed more content, you deliver. Epic run as always. I know you said you lacked the motivation, and TBH, this map just looks like a chore. But you sticking through it says a lot about your character, and I respect that immensely.
Dude, you made that last fight look so easy with the Cyberdemon and Archviles. Congrats on optimizing classic Sunder and table filling new Sunder. That was no easy feat and is a hell of an accomplishment! Superb job! Eagerly waiting what you'll post next!
It always baffles me that highly detailed maps tend to be slaughter styled, but baffles me even more to see how Skilled Players beat these maps. Outstanding!
Is this really the last map? I don't think so... I checked the wad and map 21 is called "Leviathan's Arteries" but it doesn't have anything in it yet. I think it's gonna be a full 32 maps wad some day

I stopped playing video games after my bestfriend/childhood hero passed away. I used to watch him play the SNES growing up. He got me into WoW raiding as a tank and a healer. The most fun I ever had gaming, was healing alongside him during the Ice Crown Citadel raid in 10 man. As I stated, I stopped gaming after he died. Getting on youtube and watching some of the world's most talented gamers play my favorite game, Doom, is like reliving the best parts of my childhood. I didn't think anyone would ever UVMAX most of Insane Gazebo's masterpiece, Sunder. This is a real privilege, and I am so happy to have taken part of the Cultural Experience, known as Doom! This Community is amazing! Thank you so much Zero Master, this undertaking couldn't have been easy!
It's funny that I was sleepy last morning, glanced at the thumbnail and then was like: "Yeesh, what's with all this platforming, I don't remember this one. Was this an InsaneGazebo special collab I never heard about? lol" And then I focused my eyes and reread the video title aaand... turns out it wasn't Sunlust, it was Sunder, so yeah, Gazebo may have had a hand in there somewhere =P Still amused at how the aesthetics immediately threw me back to watching Decino going through Sunlust though. Such beautiful wads, both of them XD
I am not good enough at Doom to really play Sunder, but I did have a great time going through the maps in Doombuilder and admiring the amazing aesthetic and sense of scale each level has. I would consider them art.
I wonder if Gazebo will ramp up the anti cheese going forward as a result of these bfg grabs. I kind of hope he does, but only because its fun seeing even more creative ways to foil them.
I find it interesting how so many of the outdoor spaces in these maps are so dark, it kinda goes opposite to what you expect, indoor spaces with stark lighting while outdoor is darkened and gloomy, a feeling of eternal night or twilight
@37:24 I think was my fav part. Getting hunted in that eerie light. Got some nice cthulhu vibes with restricted movement while also very much Zero Master just ripping fuckers apart.
The music is a bit too repetitive which over the course of a long map is annoying. I feel that the visuals on the other hand are fresh in each area to keep things interesting. As always the creativity is off the chain!
Next Challenge: WR for every level of Sunlust on UV -fast 100%. Edit: ZM might not do it but believes that Okuplok Non-Tas is doable is also very commendable showing his skill and endurance level.

I have been slowly playing through this map saving only between fights and have now reached the final fight. I'd be grateful for any tips regarding the cyberdemons, because I can't find a strategy that works more than one tenth of the time! I understand that the idea is to try to herd them into the middle so you can circle strafe, but most of the time, I just die because there are too many of them and I get body blocked and some point and instantly die. In your run, it seems you also got stuck on a cyber for a moment, which must have been pretty scary, but I can't figure out a strategy that works. Obviously, you're much better at the game than me, but if you have some advice for the final fight, that would be much appreciated! And by the way, getting the BFG early with the Archvile jump was pure genius!
my strategy worked most of the time iirc, you're right that I got lucky here when I nearly got blocked and killed which is impossible to avoid completely as far as I'm aware. Anyways I'd recommend you try to do the exact thing I do at the start of the fight there, I start in the bottom left section (bottom center being the entrance) and then run through the middle to the upper right section immediately as they teleport in as there should always be room for that. Now I'm not 100% sure, but I think the plan was to run to the right along the edge after counting to 3 instead of running back through the middle, but there was a cyberdemon there firing so I just had to do it like that. Once that's done you can start running around, you want to move at a fairly constant rate as to not drag the cyberdemons too far to one side (so for example if you take too long picking up ammo in one corner then they could move in to block the next corner). good luck :)
@@ZeroMaster Thanks! I tried replicating exactly what you did and it gets me started with the circle strafing often enough that it's viable. I still run into the random cyber maybe half the time, but since I just need to redo this one fight if I die, that's okay. Can't imagine what it would be like to have to redo the whole map just because one cyber took one extra step and blocked the path, though! When I'm done with this, I will have played through all of Sunder as well (saving between fights, naturally), and I have watched your videos after playing each level, which makes me appreciate your achievement so much more!
Here's a question about demo playback: can demos only be played back in the source ports (and maybe certain variants) they were made in? Or, at the very least, can any of your demos be played back in GZDoom?
All demos are dependent on their doom ports, and not only that, in the case of Zdoom ports the release version matters a lot a well since their mechanics don't remain consistent over time.

You look at Duke Nukem 3D maps and playthroughs and you're basicly just watching the same levels over and over. Look at Doom in comparison. Still as fresh and exciting today as it was then.

Bought Doom 2 on release. Now in my 40s, still go back and play sometimes. Incredible memories.

It's late to reply, but since map 21 there are original maps from Doom 2. Map 20 is the last map of this WAD.
@@Ilya-Efimov MAP21 has been in development since before MAP20 was even finalize. It's just not available to anyone yet.
It will be cool when insane gazebo reach MAP25 developing because in this speed i think he completely finish Sunder within at least 2 decades.

Have you considered trying Sunlust. The maps are much shorter so they shouldn't be as much of a problem. I would even love to see a d2all style run :D
