To answer your delta time related question the transform chip will find a position between the start position and end position. If you imagine the start position is represented by using 0 and the end position is represented by 1, using any float value between 0 and 1 will determine how far between the start and end position the new transformed position will be. An example is using 0.05 means you will move 5% of the way from the start position to the end position every time it executes. Using delta time will result in the float value equal to the time between the current frame and the last frame to load. This is so as the frame rate fluctuates, the new transform value will adjust as well to maintain the illusion of constant movement even when the frame rate changes. You got this!

There is another way to do it. It’s called A star pathfinding. Basically it will find the shortest path towards a target using “nodes” which are path points for it. Currently trying to make atm but for now this will work for my game for now. Thanks RCL! 😄

Hi, I'm having some issues. When I get far away from it, it just stays there instead of going to the trigger volume. Is there a way to fix that?
Sounds like the switch to going to the trigger volume isn't complete, is the orange still running through the other set transform? Maybe the vector variable isn't defined?

I want to try to use a range finder to detect the player instead of it being a certain distance away because I think that would work better.

Delta time is time between executions on the update 30hz
Since update 30hz fires 30 times a second 1/30 = delta time

At 7:30 - 8:50 (where i am at) is it mean’t to make a error sound?
I looked at the logs and there are multiple circuits that have errors:
Get closest (both)
And all the ones you cloned past 7:30
Edit: it started to follow me but when i connected the if [else] chip to the set transform chip it stopped and made an error

For some reason my cube keeps moving into the ground instead of following me. Have you got any ideas as to why that is?
so change the get position chip so that it goes to your feet, try get body position or get head position
It' probably something I did but my monster kept going to one of the set zone and was flipping back and forth rapidly and not going to and other zone. It might also be that the zones aren't in a grid but I am still confused.
try moving the monster so that it eneters the zone again, it should definae a new vector to go to when it enters

never plaied but i would guess you could have a list of predetermined vectors (spots) and have it choose random from list chip

So basically there is a game im trying to make. An im trying to make it so it doesnt walk through walls. Instead, it goes to the trigger volumes to chase the player instead of just going to the player. Could you explain on how I could do that.

Rcl quick question to make a speed multiplyer on player being chased do you add a multiply chip on the delta time whenever the requirement is met to start a "chase" sequence
so unfortunately the multiply chip was what made it glitchy, it seems you have to get the scalar numbers from float variables, maybe you can multiply those but i did not try

What can i do to fix the problem that when the ai doesnt go to the trigger volume
there are like 50 different resons this could be happening, check the log screen maybe? maybe the list of vectors for it to go to hasn't been updated

It does not use Astar, but it does use breadth first search
Still finds a good shortcut to you though

whenever i wire the 30hz to transform it barely walks and teleports, any way to fix that?
I want to do this for our map that is in development but the problem is our map is going to be a forest and not a facility so how would the trigger volume work in an open map?
It would actually work better since you have no walls you could just place them where ever you want in the field

Everything works, the cube follows me BUT when I got done with the trigger volume thing, the cube doesn’t want to go into them but follow me and stop from 5m away from me. Any idea how to fix?
Okay so update: I got the cube to go to the trigger volumes but only when im close to it, when I’m far away it doesn’t move. But rotates with me around but ni movement.
Omg I got it to work after 5 times of redoing the whole thing. :D

15:45 the random from list chooses a value but doesnt enter that value/position to vector3 variable. the vector3 variable stays with the position of the nearby trigger. the monster just stays at that trigger
You need to make it so that the vector variable gets replaced with the newly selected one

You would have to add in additional play audio player chips when it switchea betwwen chasing and walking

Rcl my AI has a problem it works but whenever it goes to a trigger volume instead of going to the next one it keeps continuously going to the one its already at
you have to make it so that when it enters the trigger zone it selects a new zone to go to, seems its has to be something to do with the circuits after it enters the trigger zone
I need some help bc when i'm near the cube it follows but when I'm not it doesn't go to the closest trigger

Get closest chip that targets te list vector that is supposendly move the cube to the closest trigger volume but it wont go there and logging says "[get closest] error: port 'targets' is configured incorectly and" and everything is fine until vector list touches the get closest and i have no idea whats wrong, any people know? Lemme know please

@@theRCLman from what i understood the ai finds you if your near to it enough i meant that when it sees you at a certain distance away from its original distance it chases the player

i think you could add in the wall collision vid i did but it would be alot extra
Everytime i do the first bit it buzzes at me and the cube doesnt move
your getting an errror 1. check if your cube has modify with circuits on 2. check the logging screen for the error

It sounds like the target on the get position is invalid, so did you add the correct tag to the object your teying to affect, or did you make sure that the get 1st with tag string matches the tag on the object

try changing your monster objec type ot decoration or evirment, can't remeber which, and make sure theres matching tags on the monster and the place where the volume detects a tag
