It is implied that the duels against High Mages, Sebek & Neku and DarkNite & Nitemare are shadow games, therefore if Atem lost, he would die (or worse than that)
This game was made before official yugioh duel monster anime came out. They based this on manga style.. those high mages you've defeated actually died in this game..
man i never forget that face of Seto when i lost to him in the 1st time, 1st Seto T_ T . i can't even get to the modern tourament T_ T. ty so much for this video :D some reactions are very funny, and i love Mai and Anzu's reaction so much
It is supposed to be so. He is the main reason of the game's plot. There should definitively have been an epilogue of Darknite dooming the world in case you lose to him.
This game was released before Yugioh Duel Monster anime came out, so Konami based this game on Yugioh manga where some dark hardcore stuff happened. Those high mages who were defeated by The Prince actually died for real. also if The Prince lose , he dies, therefore Game Over screen.

Wtf was Konami thinking, selling this game to children?
Atem vs darknite probably dies like heishin
These gameover screens are actually very disturbing when you have to imagine Atem's demise.

@@HonestFarmerLigue1Fan Even battle city manga wasn't out once this game came out
Or they can be hilarious if you imagine Atem losing a friendly game against Teana, Jono or any of the villagers, then proceeding to off himself
@@CanalDoRyu the villagers tell him he lose a card so.. if he have 40 atem can't continue and jono can punch him, and.. teana idk.. die for sex?
In case you lose to Darknite or Nitemare, the game should've shown you scenes of him taking over the Earth before the game over screen.
I agree, but you do have to consider the level of budget it would've taken and if the PS1 could handle it all...
Maybe darknite transform atem and seto in a card like heishin

Gets less scary and more overdone with the laugh
He's watching you turning into a card, that's the reason he's laughing
5:21 cute Kuriboh has arrived in Game Over screen
why lose against your friends or common people was a game over? they want to kill Yugi too?
My theory is that it's more about humiliation.
Nope.. they just want a rare cards
They do, it’s like practice but they know Yugi can take the damage that’s why his friends go all out therefore if he loses he is dead
Watching this...shows me why the Pharoah HATES losing!
