You never realise how huge railway crossing bells are untill you see them on the floor next to a couch for scale. They're humongous! This video was a delight to watch, especially hearing the history of each bell and being able to take a look inside.
Great video Stuart. Your bells sound good and the overview of each bell is excellent and I’m glad that these bells, especially the Corigan Road teardrop have gone to a good home and not to the scrapyard. Congrats on reaching 500 subscribers! I’ll post a video of my bell collection soon.
21:35 The Safetran at Seymour remains from when I saw it a few weeks ago there is one at Mount Clay Road, Heywood still (Portland Line) and there is one sitting on a private crossing in the North of south Dynon
Fantastic collection of crossing bells there stuart. Great that you got the teardrop from Corrigan rd. I wonder when it last rung for a train before you got it. Maybe it was as long ago as 1984 when that crossing got boom gates. I really liked how detailed this was and how much effort went into it and it turned out great!
Excellent video Stuart. I'll have to have a look and see what number is on my Westinghouse hybrid bell. My Westinghouse hybrid bell originally came from Ballarat and was used at Lydiard Street before it was replaced by a e-bell probably after 2010 but I'm not sure of the year
Congratulations on 500 subs! You have a great collection of bells, just wondering is it safe to run the bells on the power supply? I'm thinking of getting one as electromagnets really drain my batteries lol. Also, I think your first teardrop shown has an older gong, as it produces an odd low pitched tone. This is similar to Moscript St and Nunn st. Also the Ivanhoe hybrid bell currently resides with me :)
Thanks man :) yeah, it's safe as long as you don't overpower the bells, as in adjust the voltage to higher than recommended, which for my bells is 12 volts. Nice, I'd like to see a video of that one soon
There is one on Mount Clay Road in Henwood. 😅 I do like the McKenzie and Holland teardrop bells especially the one on Carrigan Road that got removed in 2018 😞.
Hi mate though i do not own one if i’m correct the cast iron mck&h teardrop bells had a 4 inch base (in the upper part of the newer version)and a removable larger adapter piece (maybe 5/6ish inches) which probably rotates. cool video btw and congrats on 500 subs🎉
Hey Stuart! I was just wondering if i could use your clip of your 1st gen hybrid ringing for my 300 subs special video? I will put “video credits to Stuart Hunt” in the clip, with a link to your channel in the description, is that okay? PS i did watch this video when you first posted it, i really really like how much info you have on each bell and they all sound amazing so fantastic work from me!
Hmm, it might well have, listening to footage of the crossing years ago. I think my bell was just a little bit too rusty, unlike the one at Blackburn Rd

Great video Stuart, great sounding bells you have, and interesting to hear what the Corrigan Road teardrop sounds like.
Thanks Jack :) I appreciate it
Amazing video! I love how in depth each of the descriptions are! Well done, and great collection
@SBMetro I wish you would leave positive comments on my videos like you did here.
@@108CAM Mate then why don't you upload something as interesting as this
Thanks man :) Everyone needs a collection of crossing bells lol
I liked this for Amtrak, UP, BNSF, CSX, and NS locomotives!!! The SSC and WCH 2nd Mechanical Bells are great.
Nice video, I like the level of detail and effort put into the video, very well presented.
Thanks man :) much appreciated!
Nice crossing bells! The closest railroad crossing to me in my town has a US&SC teardrop bell and it has been there since at least the 1950's.
It is actually the one in the thumbnail of BNSF2184's video about them and the first one is in a nearby town.
Congrats on the 500 subscribers and awesome collection of bells as well nice to see them all together at once👍
Thanks man :) I appreciate it
Beautiful collection!
Thanks :)

Do you know if the Seymour Safetran is still around as of January 2024 or if it was removed around 2023?
Wow!!!
Wonderful video as always love the collection of bells

Using a Nathan K5LA for only Amtrak and K5LLA on SD70ACe locomotives for the freight trains!!!
Now we know where the Clayton Road Westinghouse bell is now, its owned by fellow Victorian Railfan "Tazzie Transport"
Oh nice

lol
Those bells sound exactly like the ones here in the United States
Because they are.
Not the hybrids they are Australian only

@@AngelaHurst-tu7phno actually there are some Westinghouse hybrids in the USA not common but they do appear once in awhile.
First one sounded more like a fast antique fire bell in schools in the old days

How the railroad crossing malfunctioned?
Are there any NMA EBA Dutch-styled e-bells in Aussie?
Barker e bells
If you get enough wiring, will you set off all your bells

Stuart im from the usa i have a wrrs 1206 or model 222 mechanical bell I think Westinghouse copied safetran hybrid bell
They did, but they did way better in performance
