DR. TENMA, OG, IS HERE! Just so ya'll know, the Dr. Tenma of Astro Boy predates the Dr. Tenma of Monster by 42 whole years. So if anything, I wouldn't be surprised if Monster Tenma's namesake is a reference to Astro Boy's Tenma.
It is. Urosawa is a big fan of Tezuka and Astroboy.
The OG Tezuka's artificial brain/AI specialist vs Urasawa's rendition human brain specialist!
"The Greatest Robot on Earth" gives me chills everytime
Knowing the original Astro boy arc, that title drop was so sooo good
Urasawa is a huge fan of Tezuka. Of course, the name of Dr. Tenma from Monster is derived from Dr. Tenma from Astro Boy. However, the character of Dr. Tenma from Monster, who helps people wherever he goes, is similar to Black Jack, who also appears in Tezuka's works. Also, Astro Boy features an older brother and sister named Atom and Uran, and Monster features Johan and Anna. Many influences from Tezuka's works can be found in Urasawa's works.
Black jack was the guy that treated the composer right ?

"Something's out of context, and some things are blended here"
I can never get enough of reactors who catch so much on the first view
I love that the soft-hearted professor is the one who created Uran. Like it makes perfects sense for a man who cares so deeply to make an emotional robot.
Crazy that in the dub they actually got Keith David to play Dr. Tenma
The dub is so underrated
I'm just rolling in the world-building and sci-fi social analysis and mystery and everything, and at the same time squishily pleased that Ochanomizu-Hakase has a name that can be translated as Professor Teawater. 😊
Ikr next episode we meet Higeoyaji (Reichwein from Monster look-alike who is Atom and Urans teacher), and he has some great moments but his name is literally Mr Bearded Grandpa
It's interesting to me how the leader of this cult are telling that they need to "kill" detective (I can't spell his name right 😓) who is a robot and telling to "dispose" of Adolph who is a human. It's like telling us that even for him this robot is more of human than Adolph himself.
Or maybe I'm just looking way too deep in this.
Or maybe it just tells that leader's hypocrisy and how even he subconsciously treats humans and robots as the same
Would so love for you guys to react to more of Tezuka work. Be it the 80s Astro Boy series, which has some pretty emotional and pretty heavy episodes, including this " Greatest Robot on Earth" arc in particular or Black Jack. So can't wait for ya'll to experience more of this amazing series.
Listen to the English dub for Tenma. Keith David plays the role perfectly
I FREAKING LOVE Astro Boy (Atom), so seeing this animated like this is... words cannot describe how much I love this!!!
37:35 4 months late but that mountain lion story is hilarious to listen to
Man this episode along with the opener for 5 is gonna make me get early access again 😭
so good
I was waiting for their reaction to OG Dr. Tenma.
Ok, Atom is dead, show's over. It was good while it lasted
I'm honestly shocked about it.
It’s all good, Gesicht is the main character!
But the show's called Pluto, not Atom.
Don’t know if anyone else here watched the Netflix dub. But I love that they gave Tenma’s voice to Keith David
Pluto is good, hope you enjoy it.
Rest In Peace Atom
For now
Such and action packed episode😖😖
How did Atom die anyway?
It looked like he was bitten, but there didn't seem to be any physical injuries on him.
I think it is implied that Pluto short circuited him or something along those lines. In the original anime it shown that Pluto's horn have the power to short circuit other robots.
@@DerekFerguson90 Ah, I see. Appreciate it thanks.
How have I seen Pluto without seeing Monster? Well by the power of the two stories not being connected. I've tried Monster twice and never came further than 4 or 5 episodes... But Pluto was good! Not the best ever, but a nice change of pace from typical anime.
