I've been saying we were importing hate and intolerance since 1988. I saw the tensions myself in the vanguard migrant areas of East London. I am an immigrant, yet, my upbringing and schooling was more English than the average English person. I've never been the subject of Racism, and I have a contempt for those who denigrate this country, but hold out the supplication cup for its benefits.

As I recall, back in the 2000’s Labour’s then Home Secretary, David Blunket, said multiculturalism wasn’t working and we needed to shift to a policy of integration. Somehow that fizzled out because no one else seemed to engage with it…

Integration is never going to be a done thing within the scope of one or two generations and where the numbers are so large as to displace the culture of the people in the country a person moves to, virtually impossible. If you moved to Japan you wouldn't suddenly become Japanese or if you moved to Somalia you wouldn't become Somali. Even your children wouldn't be, they would be known as the son/daughter or the English person. Such things take a long time to occur and integration can only happen where there isn't saturation.
Historically this happens over the course of hundreds of years and many generations. What is a problem is the vast numbers and cities which are becoming largely non dissimilar from other regions of the planet where they moved from.
