He just used a drum loop, one synth line and his voice. At that he didn't even get the loops in on time and he messed up the notes a bunch. Classic song and he's an amazing live performer, but doing that especially with all the fuck-ups is far from incredible in my books :P

I cant stand listening through the original it lays to heavy on my soul, but here Thom is giggling up with a fan base singing background vocals while he's screwing up a bit, i love this so fucking much.

It shows that they are not perfect, and just regular human beings. I mean, for fk sake, Thom is playing a song that requires 5 people for it to be played correctly. And he pulls it off pretty fucking well.

digadeh it was just a gig he did solo, I think it was a fundraiser for the Green Party, so the others might not have had time for that
