Thermodynamics indicates both carbon and metal are the same temperature outdoors but metal conducts the warmth of your hands into it more efficiently than carbon which acts more like an insulator. You’re right of course, it is the “feel” of carbon compared with metal when cold that tricks people into thinking their temperatures are different.

Just purchased one of these, no instructions. Coming from reels with screws to remove the palm plate, how do you remove the palm plate? It doesn't just twist off? Is there a lock?
Acrua, you can get a shallow and deep spool together with the reel for about $35 on sale. The Acura uses a short shaft over Ultra, less weight aka mass to rotate. My opinion better reel than a Zapyr.
I see you, too, like left-handed reels. 👍 That Ultra, is that the model with a centrifugal magnetic brake? They screwed up a reel, I think it was the Ultra, by moving the centrifugal magnetic right handled reel brake to the left-handed without mirror imaging the brake system. It works by force, throwing the brakes out on a pivot arm point. By just reusing the brakes from the right handed model on the left, the pivot points are on the wrong side of the rotational force, aka it is trying to throw the pivot points, not the magnets. So, the right handled reel it works, left-handed not at all as the design suggests. I so wanted a left-handed model with that brake system, but they went to static moving in and out on the new 50.
A bit off topic but having just watched your older video on thin braids you mentioned not being able to measure line diameter scientifically/accurately I thought I’d mention an Aussie channel called The Line Laboratory. He uses a method to measure line off a screen so the there’s no actual handling of the line other than to rotate the braid several times to get a lot of measurements which lead to an average diameter. I think you’ll lose trust in using the PE method to ascertain line diameter, the line diameters of various lines are never accurate, in fact never even close to accurate. Anyway I like your channel and will try and work out these strange sounding fish names you have that I’ve never heard of. 😅
I don't think I will ever stop being super confused by how some of these products are named. What makes this one carry the name "Pro"? The box seemingly doesn't say Pro, and none of the AliExpress listings mention anything about "Pro" in the complete product name. Same with the Tsurinoya Dragon rods, everybody talks about the "Dragon 2" rods, but the AliExpress listings don't call them "Dragon 2". I bought one earlier this year, and I still don't have a clue which iteration it is. As a beginner it's a mess trying to navigate through older, partially discontinued models/versions and newer versions that improved upon X, Y and Z when the reasoning for how to name them is all over the place.
I have this bfs reel and I think for the money you’re not gonna beat it it cast amazingly smooth I highly recommend it

I partially agree with you - companies (including big ones like Daiwa) should not try to release replacements every 6 months!
