Thanks, you reached Wintersun. This is from their second album "Time 1". It consists 5 songs and three of them are also done like this, live rehearsal. You could try the next song "Time" from this same live rehearsal session.
Jari Mäenpää (blonde lead vocalist and guitarist) means the same to Wintersun than Tuomas Holopainen to Nightwish. And instruments, what you don't see but you hear, they are also made by Jari... Wintersun is also those bands who don´t know how to do a bad song. So far they have done 3 albums.
BTW, from RUclips you can also find a video which is from a camera that was in front of Kai! So you can see and hear him mostly and the band is somewhere behind... If you are interested to see that.

Saying that they play well would be an understatement. I understand Sistah's reactions. She reminds me of a very good friend of mine, who is also able to understand music immediately in an emotional way. As I am personally more an analytic guy like Wolf, listening music together with her makes me often notice things I would never notice by myself. This together with Wolf's often very deep analysis makes this the best reaction channel I know, where videos over 30 minutes seem to pass by as quickly as this song. You both are awesome. And by the way, I did not know Wintersun myself. At least this song is mindblowing. Thank you for sharing this with us. :-)

Oh yeah. The word epic gets thrown a lot but this piece is real. This is the song that finally had me tolerating, then appreciating, harsh vocals. It took me maybe five tries to get through it initially but it’s now in my top 5 all time favourite songs. I have it on repeat at the gym.

Time, is such a brilliant album. Wintersun put so much time into their albums. Jari is pretty much a Finnish version of Devin Townsend, his ideas are huge, his vocals are huge and his guitar playing is brilliant. Looking forward to seeing your reaction to The forest that weeps, that song is huge. I hope that people reacting to Wintersun gets them the recognition they deserve outside of Europe. Saw Wintersun last year in Los Angeles!!! They were awesome! But "Land of Snow and Sorrow" is an AMAZING tune \m/!!! I only gave Wintersun a shot less than a week ago. So now I'm checking out the first reactions of my favorite reaction channels to Wintersun. They blew my mind. I remember you (Wolf) saying you'd be giving info and what not because you probably knew every song and band requested. Didn't you learn anything from Socrates? lol. Through reaction vids I got to know Epica and now Wintersun. I already knew Nightwish, but not the Floor versions. So you could call that a discovery too. 'Time' was the first song I heard of Wintersun. It had so much beauty and emotion in it. That one really touched me.
Well, Kai played for grindcore band Rotten Sound back in the day. Awesome drummer.

That album is a masterpiece, every song is perfect. The short songs are the intros for the longer ones, and they need them, because they're so fitting.
I also recommend Insomnium. Heart Like A Grave, Pale Morning Star, The Primeval Dark, While We Sleep... I haven't heard a single song I don't like.

The singer Jari Mäenpää suffered from tuberculosis and had to get surgery, half of his lungs were removed and this is the result :)

Wintersun has grown to be one of my favorite names in metal within a week of me discovering them. I think the reason they're not as well known as other big names is they just don't have as much material, and they're pretty slow at releasing new content.
This is my favorite song ever, period.

It's slightly less demanding (at least for the drummer), yet I noticed that was the one I was humming afterwards.
Think it's the name of the Album too.
Then there are 2 more I'd recommend: Land of Snow and Sorrow. & the other not from this rehearsal, called Loneliness (a dedication to the father of the singer/composer, after his passing).

Break Break! You have to do Meadows of Heaven by Nightwish. We know you're fans, but that song drove even me to tears (not like me) so we have to see your reaction! :) What a song. Old Nightwish, totally took me by surprise. Very few reactions to it, but the ones that are.....tears flowing.
