      @@science_sir thanks alot . and if we bring a positively charged rod near the electroscope it will attract electrons from the elctroscope and will leave a net positive charge on it ? If the elctroscope is at its initial stage .

    • @science_sir
      @science_sir  4 года назад +1

      If we bring a positively charged rod near the cap of the electroscope, the rod will attract electrons, thereby the density of electrons near the cap get increased and similarly the gold leaf looses electron, thereby becomes positively charged and that's the reason why the leaf diverge. But as soon as we move away the positive glass rod from the cap of the electroscope, the electrons redistributed all over the places and the whole electroscope becomes neutral and the leaf diverge immediately. Hope this will help you to understand. God bless

      Like charges repel, so if there are two negatively bodies, or two positively charged bodies so they will repel and thus , there on the leaves will be negative and negative and thus making it repel or diverge.

    Does this rely on already knowing that the cotton was negatively charged to begin with?
    If the cotton had actually been positively charged. Then wouldn't this have still have induced negative charge in the plate and a positive charge in the gold leaf and brass it's attached to, causing it to repel away?
    So how can we be sure that the cotton was negatively charged at the start?

      Please forgive me, I wrote all possible details required for this experiment, so thought to keep myself quite. Maybe I should talk.
      Vachana, please ask me asking u want regarding this experiment so that I can help you to understand it clearly.
      God bless you and your family 🙏
