VBS3 is an actual training program used by the Australian military. I used it on a training exercise on a pacific island where we were meant to basically shadow a police patrol for a non warlike operations. we were not meant to meet anyone hostile and may have to basically support police operations ie public disturbances like rock throwing or riots. We literally had every soldier simulated ie sitting in a passenger position on a truck. This went for 3 hours with nothing to do. Lets just say the diggers got restless and whenever we dismounted we got up to shinanigans. At the end of the patrol we expended all non lethal ammunition, 20% of lethal ammunition, 1 KIA and 3 wounded plus a random red tractor was acquisitioned from the populous. Our training staff was not happy with out lack of focus on the task. VBS 3 would be more useful for warlike training it felt like a waste of time. It was a good laugh though.
One guess might be that they wanted to not only take out an operational asset but also harass/interrupt whatever those mechanized and armored companies were doing. By making them pull off of another front or from the reserve, they sapped needed manpower, by destroying them, they reduced the capability of the Coalition by two companies worth of armor and men, plus some POL supply.
While I do understand the training aspect and desired message behind the structure of this demonstration i would like to add that the correct course of action would have been to destroy the tankers via UAV to begin with and eliminate the enemy units as they were relocated/during travel because attacking a defending position is also allowing for the enemy to choose the battlefield where as an attack during transit also carries the possibility that the enemy troops will have split their units up and left some behind to protect the area. Which would allow for an easier win anyway. Along with the tankers I would have also cut off communication if possible
Exactly my thoughts as well. Complete the objective (destroy the POL site) as efficiently as possible and evacuate the area. Perhaps set up a nice defensive area along the evac route, which could be used to destroy the enemy if they choose to follow the evacuating troops. The US Army is better at defending than attacking, so by forcing them out of their defensive positions, you'd gain a better advantage.
I love these videos, OEC G&V please make more! i tried finding the page on facebook (used link on the channel page) but the facebook page gave an error saying the page does not exist anymore as I read the comments I've seen how much these videos help current members of the military and ones panning on joining (like me) and would just like to say thank you for creating the videos they're informative and instructive to anyone even those without any military knowledge just like for you guys to know you're work is incredibly appreciated and to please make more! Videos like this in an age of technology where anyone can access them, videos like this are extremely helpful and important for the public and a great refresher for any in service member! (sorry for spamming this on all your videos just want to make sure you guys know you're doing an incredibly important public service! and that its appreciated)
I am skeptical that anything quite like that exists in reality yet. Though it does seem like a natural progression... EDIT: I was wrong, it does exist AeroVironment Switchblade en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AeroVironment_Switchblade
I was curious about the armed UAVs. Looks like something similar does exist: AeroVironment Switchblade. In use by the army and marines. However, that only carries the firepower of a 40mm grenade, so it wouldn't be much use against M1s IRL.
Please make a woodland/jungle combat scenario as I described in your last video... how the policing up of camouflage works, how to spread out in sight of each other etc.
I don’t think the HEAT warheads on those (very) small UAVs could take out an M1 as easily as is being depicted here. Especially as they don’t appear to be operating in a top-attack mode.
Take out the POL site with mortars, then attack the retreating/moving bluefor with drones and slow them down, and then just finnish them of from coy ABF PSN on the hills. Gotta keep it simple, this scenario is complicated AF! for OPFOR commander.
I know I'm 3 years late here, but I'm pretty sure Bluefor would have anti drone capabilities. It would not be nearly as easy as the simulation shows to even get them into position, much less directly attack with them.
cool video but i doubt switchblades would kill m1 tanks, also couldve used them on the fuel trucks, why didnt blufor have drones loitering around their position?
Im sorry, but you just made the BluFor look dumb here... Like did they all really need to get wiped out without suppressing enemy? Contact plan based on the positioning of assets, preferably in sight of each others positions should consist of going from recon/staging operation to suppression. Roll in some acoustic ranging devices like what the CRAM uses, immediate counter mortar. Where is the BluFor UAS assets? I demand a counter to this OPFOR steam rolling scenario.
Lol did you even watch the beginning of the video ? This video is not representative of blufor tactics tecniques and procedures (TTPs). This video's purpose is to only show how OpFor would conduct an assault.

Welcome to every ArmA scenario ever made, lol
You should pay attention not fuck around.
@@MG-cw4rwHey I did my tasks properly, don't shoot the messenger.
Great video! It does beg the question... why didn’t the opfor just use the UAVs to attack the fuel trucks in the first place? Seems
UAV got eem, RIP
It’s an assault, not a raid. It isn’t a limited objective mission.

Good question fr

Those UAVs are rather concerning... Basically tactical cruise missiles.
I know right?! The capabilities of infantry continue to expand...

they could have just destroy the objective and gtfo with those UAVS

Being an armchair general.. Opfor should've just sent the UAVs straight to the fuel tanks and called it a day.
@@Cain-x but what about the glory of engaging your enemies in the field of battle?
Thanks for posting! This is great.

Why they just use the drones in the tank fuels directly ? Apparently they have no air defense

Thanks
So a small switchblade drone is enough to destroy a main battle tank?
Yeah. hitting breech or tracks
Ukrainian war has proved small uavs can execute mobility kills on nato and Warsaw pact mbt's
ah, good old sahrani
Why not just use the armed drones and mortars to take out the fuel point using the UAV as a spotter?
I know I'm 3 years late here, but I'm pretty sure Bluefor would have anti drone capabilities. It would not be nearly as easy as the simulation shows to even get them into position, much less directly attack with them.
Sorry for being an idiot, but how did the OPFOR find those BLUFOR scout elements?
Why didn't you just use UAVs on their trucks?!
Soldiers need combat experience man, especially for company scale ops, can't expect the uavs to do all the work.
Are these tactics always the same?
So basicly arma 3 milsim
It’s arma 2 modeling
Why not just mortar/drone strike the fuel trucks?
Out of range, screening blufor units are too far forward for mortars to be accurate
US Army without artillery or aviation support? Bradly and abrams didnt move. Dominant heights are not controlled.
Read the disclaimer at beginning of video.

Arma 2?
Sahrani from Arma 1.
this tactics have a problem
What PC game is this from or is this a simulation only !?
Arma
no way in hell I'm letting them take out that /pol/ site, who's with me boys, we gotta defend the chans
Potard reporting for duty Cap'n!!
Why are we training against the coalition forces in these videos?
This is an OPFOR academy.
