These welds will hold just fine. But as you get more practice, you will turn up the amps a bit to get more penetration and more consistent weld profile.

Great build. I am not a certified welder, but you would get better penetration and cleaner welds if you would clean the millscale and surfacerust before you weld the steel. With clean base metal the welding becomes easier. Keep it up !

I realy like the design of the adjustable legs. One question I had is did you drill a hole in each upright for a pin or heavy bolt. If not it may not be a bad idea. I have seen cables fail over time expecially if left outdoors in the elimates. Great work and it came out realy nice.
@@kokmil Hello Milan, I've tried to leave my email address here, but my reply disappears ... is there any other way to send it to you? Thank you again.
I can link where I bought the hand winch, but it is a Hungarian webshop, and the winch with the shipping price will be expensive. I bought the cheapest winch what I found, because do not need to lift heavy weight.
2 Pedictions... 1 - welds will fail due to welding on rusty metal AND he 'pushes' the weld instead of 'pulling' which results in shallow penatration. 2 - paint will peel (again failing to prep the metal.
1 - You have right about the metal prep. In my next jobs I will pay more attention to it. 2 - I sand the frame with a "80" sand paper, and wiped it with a rag. I bought a combined paint (primer and top coat in one). The seller sad it did not matter if the metal surface a little rusty.
Hi, The legs were made from 60x60x2 mm square tube. The top of the "A" shape (I don't know how it's called in English) was made from 6 mm flat bar, and the adjustable parts are 60x80x3 mm quare tubes.
Hi.. can you please tell me what specs is for the beam ( inches on deep, inches on flange and the material thick... I need build one 20 feet long and 12 feet high and I need use one beam with 4 inches flange but I'm not sure the thick of the beam and the deep that I need to buy and the square tubes thick.......thank you
Hi, I used a 2,5 m long piece of INP140 I beam. You can find the dimensions on the internet. For the legs I bought 60x60mm square tubes with 2mm thickness. The type of the materials are highly depend from the planned crane load.
Those welds sure wasnt worth pausing on them for a whole minute. Next time clean the steel especially on something structural and your going to be under it. For one would have gotten way better looking welds but the main reason you would have gotten way stronger welds with better penetration. I really think social media and RUclips really need to start checking videos and anything that people post that isnt safe needs to be removed because these platforms has turned everyone into professional in stuff they dont have a clue about and pass on the same unsafe practice to the next guy who thinks i watched 2 RUclips videos i am a pro and can do it myself.
Thank you! I used the "AxisVM LT" statical simulation software. This is free until 40 line elements and very easy to use. I often use it when I make something from steel, and the real deformation used to be the same like in the software.
Flux core is a lot more forgiving than mig. hich is probably why his welds looked as good as they did, but still, you are right, should have cleaned better.

Nice. Again you did a great job.

Impressive work, good job. I am going to build a similar one and got some good ideas from you, thanks.

An excellent design and execution. Would it be possible to obtain a copy of your plans, please? I'd like to build one just like yours.

Looks nice. Great video. Oh....I'm the 151st comment on the 151st day of 2022. Hmmm
That plate to I- beam weld looks like it's quite cold, no penetration! I wouldn't trust it!
brother bought a Twin Rotor rake, built in factory and half of it just fell off. I think this welding is better lol.
Nice job!

MIG push is fine, nothing wrong there. Could have done more prep but the beads looked fine. Probably right on the paint front.
Mig with shielding gas you generally push. Flux core wire you drag. Clean weld joints to shiny bare metal first and crank up the amos, way too cold!
hello, what is the wall thickness of the square tube?
Hi,

I guess if the weakest link is the plastic wheels you should be well within strength of the metal should the welds hold even w no prep

What's the max load / weight that can be lifted with this?
It was designed for 2 tons load. I only lifted 500kg yet, and it worked well.
What welding machine did you use
Mig welding
