Nice to see a beginners ‘warts ‘n’ all’ video… No wonder the brakes were grabby, maybe a cheaper brake shoe was used 😮 Try a smear of copper grease on the brake drum retaining screws when you put them back in, may help the next time you have to take the drum off… You often have to wind the snail cams back to take the drum off… Consult a manual, the previous owner may have not done it correctly… 👍
I was going to point out the need to back off the shoes before trying to take the drums off and readjust once the new shoes and drums are refitted. In his defence - he’s not a petrol head.
@@thebarleymowNew shoes are on! I think the absolutely shredded shoes meant I didn’t have to slack off that adjuster, so I got lucky! Spotted the adjuster and how it operates whilst putting it all back together today with the new shoes so lesson learnt and noted for when I take the drum off again. Really enjoying the learning process, there’s so much ‘common sense’ in the old mechanics and it speaks volumes that not too much has changed since the 60’s on a basic level! Nice one!
