- If you're planning on driving the Gibb River Road and you love an off road adventure, then you can't miss this amazing track!! This non gazetted remote track starts at the Pentecost river, crosses the Gibb and finishes at Diggers Rest near Wyndham - or you can go the other way and start at the other end! BUT beware, many travellers before us have gotten lost and it's so easy to do, as there are multiple tracks and many different ways you can go. All we can say is watch this episode and make sure you are prepared!!!
There are some magnificent honey holes full of 1 meter barras which are filled with birdlife and insanely stunning views of the Pentecost. The fishing here was MENTAL, we were completely unprepared and surprised by what we experienced!!! And the amazing 360 views of the mud flats left us speechless... you just wait until you see what we drove through - WOW WOW WOW!!!!
This less travelled, Aussie track is filled with beauty and adventure and it's now taken the lead as our favourite track in The Kimberley, and perhaps even Australia!!!
We are excited for you to experience The Karunjie track with us. ENJOY legends and thanks for watching :)

THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!
My favourite channel by a country mile. You guys are so natural in front of the camera and your narratives are given without the need for fancy editing. Don't stop doing what you're doing
In my opinion, the best overlanding channel. This is what overlanding is so posed to be. No bragging about the most expensive equipment you can buy, just a wonderful family exploring and creating memories😍
Please keep up the good work!
Cheers from Sweden!
Stumbled across this channel a little while ago and now is one of my top 5..
Love how u go with the flow and let little miss live life as kids should.
Keep up the good work and safe travels.
Yewww 🤙🏻 that’s awesome!
Whoever is doing on the ground camera filming is a legend, as vehicles pass by. Legendary! Awesome. The video editing with this channel makes me feel like I am having the adventure with you guys. Shoutout to the camera peep!
Hey guys, you rock, this has been my favourite channel so far, point to note is when handling barra is to stick your hand straight in there mouth and let the fish clamp down on your hand, DO NOT try and pick them up by there gills as they have very sharp gills which they use for defence,,
My husband had 3 combis back in the 80s in London. He never thought they may be capable of this. Fab.
Maxine has got to be the best navigator, I’d love to have her sitting shotgun with me any old day of the week. 🥰
VWs forever! I had mud flats like those where we lived and had some of the best times driving the VW along them!
What got me started with my VW obsession was a primary school teacher I had who would drive his chopper to school and started taking us kids out on camping trips in it, those were different times of course and we learnt more about science by seeing some of the best Australian National Parks with him than we ever would have in a class room.
The best bit for me Karstan was the how you didn’t rack up all that Karma by killing the massive Barramundi! 😅
Well done and how does she ever digest raw pasta like that 😂 Where are you guys now? Because this is obviously old film. You don’t have to let on.
Max, the glue that holds things together. Love to see more family time.
❤️😊
You are brave souls. My wife and I owned a number of VW’s over the years, and seeing you go off-road like you have is amazing to see just how tough they are. You must be a hell of a mechanic!!! Great videos, loving the adventure, and your daughter is a heck of a trooper!
So great to hear you’re enjoying our adventures!! How amazing are kombis to travel in 😍
Thank you for putting ithge Barra back ....
Damn that was a Nice Fish , Gratz guys :)
The 'Barra' went back in the drink , yessss !!!
No 4WD BS , no fish killing heroics , it just gets better 😉 .
That’s a stonka fish, good on ya 🤘👍😀
Barra makes me wana do this track, multiple roads with potential of mudflats bogs does not!
Well done 🤙🏾
You guys were in front of us at the Croc Bakery Wyndam. I commented to my mate that your set up was a bloody good looking rig.
How good is that bakery 👌🏻
Most croc attacks occur within 20 metres of the water line. If you remain at the same campsite for more than 2 nights the next morning is absolute danger as the croc has figured out your movements and has developed his attack strategy. When fishing for Bara use heavy duty tackle especially in steep slope retrievals. I hope you continue to make these interesting travel videos. God bless.
So funny, what a Barra! I’ve now watched 3 in a row,so entertaining. You really do work hard getting these videos together.
Glad you like them! Yeah it is a lot of work but we get a lot of enjoyment from sharing our adventures 😄🤙🏻
Mate, what a fish and to top it off you released it. You are a champion, no doubt about it.
Thanks mate, so epic!
Best one yet. I have been playing the adds all the way to the end, hoping this helps fund your trip!
Thanks so much!!!!
I'm over here in the UK & love your videos, keep up the good work guys. Oh and the combi is the absolute star of the show!!
Haha she is a star!!! Thanks for watching 😍
I loved everything. The scenery, especially of the Cockburn Range, very interesting geology! The drone shots, and scaring that big croc back into the river. tee hee. The boab trees. the birds, the barra, the waterlilies... and you guys! What a treat on a cold rainy Friday.
We just finished the Gibb and took the Karunjue Track from the other end. Yep an epic track. We towed our small camper trailer. Easy to get lost out there, luckily we didn't. We are in Derby now getting ready for out leg down the west coast.
Nice 👍🏻 sounds like you’re on an epic adventure. So good to hear that you did the Karunjie Track.
Your family and the kombi are a match made in heaven, what a team👌, great to meet up with friends to have great adventures👍

Loved it.
The little Dub is absolutely LEGEND!
And you are a lovely family
sorry...how many 1 metre Barra did you catch...ha ha !! There are established You Tubers that claim to be the biggest/best/longest 4x overland channels that don't do what you guys do in a two wheel drive combi, its real, its raw, its exciting to watch...another great ep
We are really lovin your travels legends!!!!!!
So great to hear
Love watching your adventures!! Always checking for more!!
That’s awesome to hear! We have a new one every week 🤙🏻😄
Hello. Just came across this channel!! Best channel from Australia I have ever seen and I have watched many. You guys are awesome and enjoy every minute. Keep up the good work you will go far here for sure!!
Please don’t change what you do. People are watching because of what your doing now. I see too many RUclips channels upgrade to better things and change when they start doing well. Please keep it real and raw just like it is! This is why more and more people are navigating to these type channels. Just my 2 cents! Cheers!!
Hey mate, really appreciate the comment. We love sharing our travels, comments like yours inspire us to keep doing what we are doing. Thanks for watching.
Loved it guys another awsome adventure keep them rolling, and nice long vidio, can't wait till the next vidio, u guys are Awsome and karstan finally got his Barra lol. 🙂
Another great vid. Your daughter is amazingly adaptable 🧡 but don't be surprised if she ends up as a rally driver 😆
Haha we’d be happy with that! 😜
Hey mate it was great to meet you in the caravan park in Kununurra the other day. Sorry to see the beast on the back of the tilt tray. Hope it’s up and running again soon.

It was an epic adventure ! Glad you enjoyed it 😄
Great stuff, and that fish man that was big. glad you let it go. keep the videos coming. stay safe. cheers O.J.
Thoroughly enjoyed this episode. It's a great part of the country.
We were fortunate enough to do the Karunjie Track in 2006. It's much more navigatable going from Wyndam to the Gibb
Love your channel. Nice music track and natural dialogue. Can feel the dry heat through the lense. Great exploring!
What a monster Barra a great video and it was great to wake up and watch this just before starting night shift🤙
"Hold this, I'm gonna need 3 hands" haha classic
Belíssima família, belíssima história, belíssimos lugares... E a Kombi, show de bola!
❤️❤️❤️
Ah, so glad you did this! We did the Karunji Track in 2019, from Wyndham to the Pentacost and got seriously bogged in the bull dust! We had to be winched out by a German guy camping on the river about a kilometre away from us! The billabongs were dry that year after 2 terrible wet seasons but the track itself was definitely an adventure! Love your channel 🙌🙌
First fish tip don’t give away ya spots haha that was a monster 💪😎💪
Haha yeah… insane experience.
Awesome channel mate. Shout out from the old Scots days in the central west. Keep the content coming and keep the adventures going! Living the dream :)
How absolutely amazing!! Well done that a beauty !!! 😎😎😎
Great vid. I was on King River Road bit over a week ago- guess what I saw on the back of a tilt tray tow truck heading to Wyndham from Diggers Rest 😜
Yeahhh the old girl is getting a new gearbox!
Good fish, I dont know what old mate was thinking with that exhaust pipe though lol

Great catch you have taken my dream fish lol
Excellent video keep them coming👍👍
Absolutely awesome!!!!!!!!
Hahaha… I did this track a few years ago… from the Wyndham end. Got totally lost and bogged twice. Finally got to ElQuestro at 10pm. Grand adventure but a GPS would have come in handy for sure 😎
Love your videos ❤️
Awesome videos, the best.
Always wondered what it was like. Well done
G'day folks. I stumbled on to your channel and like what I see, so subscribed. Like your kombi too. You got a bit of a gutsy looking set of wheels there. Back in the crazy 60s, I read about some bloke creating a halftrack kombi. I believe the thinking behind the idea, was to use in snow, but I think also sand and mud.? Not sure if it ever got used. Maybe a great idea for where you are. Anyway take care. And from across the ditch here in EnZed, Atb.
 you crazy pair of buggas! Lovin' what you do .
I have carted cattle south along the Gibb river road -- long time ago. The lead driver missed the gear in a sand creek crossing . Impossible the dig out as the water just washed more sand in around the wheels . He nicked a grader to put the double r/train out lol
bush road fork--- if you go the wrong way you see country you weren't going to see .
Crack and dry looking flats tip . Don't make tracks ; follow the tracks that are already there ;) . Turning around can catch the unweary out in unseen bottomless mud . Dry looking salt lakes are a bigger danger.
Stay safe while I look forward to your next adventure . Yep; I'm still jealous :)
Wow sounds like you’ve been on some crazy adventures!! Thanks for sharing 😄
@@KarstanAndMaxine you cannot do better than carting livestock see places tourist don't see or know even about --- or want to know about  ! . So much more "too see" from way up in a truck cab but "my drives" were so different than today --- very like your 'does the job' van Vs today's monster (****) 4x4 "trucks"
"Please subscribe to our Channel", mate you didn't need to ask. I just came across you guys...how the hell have I not seen your channel before??
The little one's look on her face crunching the dry pasta - priceless. Yeah, yeah, the barras were epic, the scenery and locations absolutely effen amazing, but the look on her face!
You guys are absolutely inspiring. Keep it up and thank you!!
Now look what you've done - I have a lot of binge watching to do to catch up!
Wow what a fantastic comment to read - thank you! Really appreciate it mate. It’s people like you that inspire us to keep doing what we are doing.
33:45 If you mount your CB antenna on your roof (rather than the bullbar) you'll get better reception/longer reach, even with a low dbi antenna. Ronny Dahl did a good video comparison.
Very true. You can also carry two. One for long distance, makes a big difference on flat terrain.
Great vid as always. The track is pronounced Koo-run-jai . As in pie. Safe travels.
Can you tell me is the vw 4x4 because where you go with this is insane 😳 it brings back memories of doing it real, not in something no one can afford 🤙🤣 love it guy's, keep on bugging ha ha! Out. 🤪👍
AWESOME 🤙🤙🤙🤙
Barrakingie🏆🏆🏆🎣🎣🎣🎣👑👑👑🎉🎉🎉🎉🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙
Another great video guys, love what your doing and please keep doing it. That kombi will end up in the Louvre or something, where you guys have taken that thing is nothing but unbelievable. By the way i spotted an image of you guys when you were on the block but to me it looked more like beauty and the geek haha. I'm a happily married man but i prefer the current Tarzan/Fabio look mate. keep making great videos guys and safe travels.
We did the Karunjie Track in June. We thought it would be an interesting short cut back to Wyndum after a morning at El Questro. Some short cut! 6 1/2 hours to get to Wyndum. Lots of backtracking. We read that first gate sign as though we couldn't go that way, we spent more than hour looking for the 'correct' track only to return to that sign and re-read that we could proceed. I'm sure its purposely confusing so you won't use track.
What a great clip. Did you see any crocs in that lagoon you were fishing?
Good on yours 3 free legends
wow ..
What great vids you are doing without doubt the best RUclips channel of OZ travel. Look forward to sharing your journey Evey week. Simplest set-up no frills and pure adventure keep up the great work. How can I support your travels?
Looking forward to the next bit already 👍👍👍👍👍👍😄
Have you thought about removing the rear view mirror? From here it doesn't seem to do much. Might be a better view for Maxine and the camera . Absolutely enjoy every video. Appreciate your time to produce them. Safe travels.
Nice to hear you like our vids 👍🏻, nah we don’t wanna remove the mirror. We do use it.
