I had my first laser session the other day, underarms/bikini and full leg, the lady did say the more sessions you have the more painful it gets as the settings on the laser go up. However she did say if you have a clean shave with no hairs showing the less painful it will be as it will not be burning the hair (most painful bit) my first session I didn’t feel any pain at all only on bikini very slightly (because there were some tiny hair left). My tech did say for me she would recommend shaving literally just before the appointment as I had some hair growth even from shaving the night before - she said you won’t notice at this appointment but the more you have, if there are little hairs, it will be painful.
They did say they recommended 10 sessions to start off with though, a lot of RUclips videos say only 6-8. They said 10 is recommended as then the yearly top ups maybe you’ll only need one or two
You cannot go to the gym for 24 hours after treatment or have a hot bath or shower, they said luke warm shower only for the first 24hrs and also you cannot wear deodorant for the next 24-48 hours
The laser machine I’m using is the Elite IQ, I got 10 sessions for full leg + any bikini inc bum + underarms for £899 GBP
I hope this helps as a lot of videos do not cover these points :)

They do ask before the start of every session how I’m finding it and if it is working, so I will just mention next time

You may want to inform people, that all creams lotions, makeup, perfumes needs to be removed prior to laser treatments. It it not recommended to apply numbing creams in large areas. Some health issues or medications can prevent people from being able to get laser treatments.
Correction on time between laser treatments for specific areas, face is 4-6 weeks and body is 6-8 weeks apart. The nurse said body is 4 weeks apart, she is incorrect. Also, it is not only nurses who do laser treatments. Medical Electrologist who are referred as Laser Technicians are trained and licensed specifically for laser treatments. In Florida only ARNP or PA can do laser other than Medical Electrologist, and only Medical Electrologist thoroughly completes a 360 hr course along with an additional 30 hr course specifically in lasers, and must pass their CCE and CME, and renewing their license every two years with written and live hours, testing. ARNP, PAs are only shown how to operate laser machines, by the laser companies representatives, usually one day, and with no additional proper education specifically in laser operation.

Thanks for the comment! Yes, it is not required to be a nurse to do laser hair removal, but at La Piel Laser they all have medical credentials. The additional qualifications can bring some peace of mind although it is not required.

I was going to mention applying topical numbing cream to your legs is not recommended at all because it’s such a large area it can actually be harmful to the person. I’ve had a consult for laser hair removal and that’s what she said. For the more sensitive areas like under arms and bikini area, it’s fine.

"Medical Electrologist"? Nah, I'm trusting only licensed medical professionals for my laser hair removal NPs, RNs, MDs, and DOs. Ideally I'd go to a dermatologist, but their prices are crazy high.
All those patient burn stories are coming out of those barely regulated med spas. It's a medical treatment; I don't want a cosmologists (who might have flunked high school biology).

    • @DD-OO
      @DD-OO Год назад +1

@@roguenify Did you read my original post? It’s your choice who you want to do your treatments but Medical Electrologist are specifically trained in doing lasers. Just like a nurses who train to be a nurse. Medical Electrologist are medically trained, and are medically board certified with the health department, at least in FL, and are required by law to renew their license by educational hours every two years. Nurses and doctors are shown how to use a laser in a half day training, no additional education and no license. Nurses and doctors have the highest rate for burning people. I know this because I have 20 years experience in this specific field.

Thank you! So I got pregnant and am still breastfeeding, so I had to put a pause on my treatments halfway through. Apparently, hair growth can come back due to hormones from pregnancy and breastfeeding -- so it's recommended to restart after breastfeeding. Anyway, there is definitely still a good amount of hair reduction from my treatments! I don't have to shave as much as I used to before I started laser hair treatments and the hair that does pop up seems finer for some reason. I'm really happy with the progress so far, and I am excited to finish the treatments.

I'm very nervous and watching lots of videos about laser hair removal, o used to have normal hair growth on the upper lip and on the chin I used to remove it once a week with shaving cream and once in 10 to 15 days by plucking or threading it. Suddenly the hair became very thick and so black that now I have to shave almost daily when the hair grows back, it grows very fast, thick, and black. I decided to laser it, it's very expensive here, but I had enough. I've been suffering for two years now, and I think it's finally time to start lasering it.

How come the numbing cream she showed is different looking from the one linked in the description box? Help, anyone.
Thank you for this informative and easy to understand video.

oooohmysoooosexy Good question! The numbing cream I am showing in the video is what the spa carries in the store. I believe it is called Zensa. It works well. However I’ve also used the numbing cream that I bought on Amazon (went through two bottles) and that is the one I linked for people. That one is called Uber Numb.

LizzyFay thank you for the explanation. Could you describe how you used this Amazon numbing cream? The reviews varies how it’s applied. (How long before your session, did your wrap the area with seran wrap, etc.)

oooohmysoooosexy I put it on an hour before. Make sure you let it dry for a few minutes before you dress! For me, this numbing cream made my treatment painless! But the doctor says if other people have coarse hair they may still feel it. The cream helps though!

LizzyFay if you were to put cling film (seran wrap) on top of the cream and leave it, it will work 10 x better xx

not really, it works the best if you have thick dark hair and fair skin, but there's also lasers for darker skins and people with light hair can also do it, but either way, it can always vary from person to person

No, lasers today can work well on Black skin. Just make sure the company you choose has the right lasers. Lapiel in Chicago has lasers for all skin types.
