Based on your experience, you should be expecting your neighbors to move in September-October. That said, I don't expect anyone to be as committed as you two have been.😊👍🏼❤️
I look forward to each of your vlogs to start my day. very enjoyable. My son and his filipina wife want to move there in a couple of years and I've been urging him to go there now and at least look for property while its still affordable. the longer he waits, the higher the cost of the land. my daughter in-law's family lives in antique, but he doesn't want to live that close and he wants to get lots of property. maybe 2-3 hectors. he likes his privacy. they plan on taking me with them, I'm already 73, and I too am excited in seeing the islands. I've never been there, but I've been watching lots of vloggers talking about it so much, I almost feel I've lived there for years. keep up the great vlogs and bless your home. miss the puppies.
I am really loving the large landscaping rocks you have in your yard. Once you start puttering flowers and shrubs in, it will really set off the property. The entire project is looking awesome.
Wilma and Greg, another good vlog, and the Dumaguete area is the Mecca for expats, and the environment is very favorable for retirees that want to enjoy life in peace, and get away from the rat race, which is the US today. I have had to slow my move there, for a couple of reasons, and my Filipina GF is fully behind it, as she knows when I get there, I am there to the end. You hit the jackpot, where you built your home, as the view, is the type that resorts only dream about. One thing I notice is that Wilma’s smile gets brighter and brighter, with each video, so I know she is happy. Enjoy every day together, you have worked for it.😊
Thanks Steve, we are really starting to enjoy our retirement. It feels like it's just starting as we have been looking for property and planning this build since we arrived back in 2021. It's all starting to feel real and we are enjoying it.
Greg/Wilma I like your Guard Dog's attitude, take care of him/her, they are earning their keep by being ever vigilant. Things are shaping up very nicely and I believe you will be very happy here and you've found your forever Retirement home. Happy for you both of you to be able to do what you have accomplished is a great achievement, especially at a much earlier age and in retirement. God Bless
its getting better and better, if is my house i put 2 plants beside the stairs to kinda see or guide where the stairs are, looking forward to see the pool filled up soon!! cheers!
What are you doing to minimize cracking in the concrete pours? That's a lot of concrete area without reinforcement to prevent major issues! The earth moves, and it moves rocks to the surface. I'm not trying to be negative, but from my experience, that will be a problem in the future. The driveway definitely needs reinforcement! The weight of vehicles going up and down will crack the surface.
In New Zealand we get small quakes and ALL our concrete foundations and driveways are reinforced with stress cuts made on the surface after it dries to prevent cracks from running
Wilma and Greg, my wife (from ILOILO), and I have been watching your home build from day one. We love your design and layouts of the home and the property. Are you considering providing your designs and plans to others in the Philippines who would like to build the same home? Also, we would like to see if you would share your costs and projected final cost? Keep up the great work, you are almost done!
Absolutely yes. This house is build well with no cut corners. If I bought an existing house, who knows how it was built. That would be a bigger gamble in my opinion.
Wow, 1100sqm lot. I thought it was bigger than that. This really helps me because most of the lots for sale seem like around that size of lot, which I thought was too small. Very beautiful place Wilma and Greg.
Please do a video when unpacking your balikbayan boxes. I would like to peek at how you guys packed them and how it held up, as I am on the process of packing 30 balikbayan boxes for our move this November.🤦♀️😂
Hey Greg and Wilma, on today’s video, when I’m looking at the difference in height between the front patio and the landing at the bottom of the steps leading to the pool, I read a comment where another viewer stated you may need a railing on the sides of along the front the newly poured cement that was poured, I read a comment made about you possibly needing a railing for the steps when they get wet. I wonder what you are going to do to prevent falls off the patio itself. That appears to be pretty big step off from the house level to below. Are you planning to put something there for safety reasons or not? We know you don’t have young kids so maybe it isn’t a concern. However, you also don’t want to obstruct such a stunning view.
@@buildingthephilippines Thanks for answering. It is a little bigger step 🪜 down than I thought it would be but it is hard to tell on video, especially before the cement is poured below.
I will be curious on where the land will be purchased for the new international airport in Bacong/Dauin/Valencia area. Hopefully the flight path does not cross your beautiful property.
Hi Guys, This question more related to your "Settling in" video a few days ago, but, how is the remote water heater working for your shower? We discussed installing a remote heater in our build but we have a standard access heater (Samsung) and I catch myself adjusting the temp several times during a shower. Did you use a 3-way valve so you could mix Hot and "Cold" while in the shower? Thanks. Beautiful House.
Hi been watching your vlogs. Ask some questions. How much per sqm.and what is the lot size of your property. View is very nice.we are looking for a land that can be our farm house.thankyou
How much per sqm did you bought your land. And is your house cost 4M to 5 already so that we can know cost of building 🏫. Thank you appreciate your response.
One more question Guys, what is your builder saying about cutting expansion joints in the concrete. I am a little confused because I've seen and read many different opinions on this. My builder doesn't do them but said he would if I requested for the driveway and pad. Thanks Again. look forward to next video.
Question: In the area of the poured concrete, from the bar area of the pool, to the center of your steps (from under the 2M overhang), won’t water pool up in that area? I didn’t see a drain.
The concrete is crowned 2 inches from center of pool to each of the 2 edges. Then another 2 inches from the end of the pool to the western end of the carport. The 3 meter driveway will also be pitched to the wall 2 inches.
@@buildingthephilippines With the crown, in front of your door, water would split (left and right); the water moving to the right (looking at your house), is there a drain? It looks like the 4" raise of concrete, for the pool bar, would lock it in the corner. Am I wrong?
No, its pitched to the wall. The wall, might not be able to see on camera, tips the whole length of the property. Should be fine. We will see eventually if the plan worked or not.
@@buildingthephilippines I love your house design and layout, we plan to move to phillipines in 1-2 years and build a home also. May I know how much you paid per sqm ?
Railing down the middle of the pool stairs so you don't slip and fall going down the wet stairs...
Maybe years down the road, for now we will be cannonballing in.
if you haven't done so yet you should put some weep holes at the base of your front wall 1 or 2 per panel, you can get alot of rain at times
Yes, we are installing one weep hole per panel. We already made them. Ready to install.
Based on your experience, you should be expecting your neighbors to move in September-October. That said, I don't expect anyone to be as committed as you two have been.😊👍🏼❤️
Yes, we will see how their contractor does regarding build completion time.
just a few more days before I officially congratulate you and Wilma on your new home. All the best!
I will be waiting. We are getting so close.
Awesome ❤ I land there on 21st not long now
Very nice, travel safe.

Thanks for watching our videos. You will enjoy visiting here. It's a beautiful country. Travel safe.
Great job guys. 😊 you need to start filling the pool. It will take you a week to fill it. .. enjoy it Guys you both worked have to get it done. Cheers
Thanks Mel. Yes I know I'm so ready to start the water going in. Just want the cement to be poured to keep this dust down.
I am really loving the large landscaping rocks you have in your yard. Once you start puttering flowers and shrubs in, it will really set off the property. The entire project is looking awesome.
We will be landscaping soon. Lots of plants, grass and dwarf fruit trees. Stay tuned.

Thanks Charles, she definitely alerts us if anyone comes near the property. We will be enjoying this home hopefully for many years to come.
Hi there guys welcoming style of video, great ambassadors for the Americans here in the Philippines...Wilma always a smile on her face great videos🤔😃♥️
Thank you, we have a small channel but enjoying sharing our dream home build with our viewers.
Most of you viewers haven’t been on your homesite, but I attest it is stunning. It will be interesting to see the security the subdivision will have.
Thanks Gary. Security wise, just Sandy. Rural living.
its getting better and better, if is my house i put 2 plants beside the stairs to kinda see or guide where the stairs are, looking forward to see the pool filled up soon!! cheers!
Yes, Wilma said she wanted 2 potted plants on either side of the steps. Thanks for the suggestion.

Yes, we will be cutting expansion joints in the driveway to help reduce cracks.
Yes, but You should also have all concrete reinforced with 3 to 5mm steel where any light vehicle will be driving over.

Roy Gobenseng is our architect. He is from Dumaguete city. If you contact him he can assist you. We will do a cost video at the end of the build.
Knowing what you know now, would you do this again?
Absolutely yes. This house is build well with no cut corners. If I bought an existing house, who knows how it was built. That would be a bigger gamble in my opinion.
Hi Greg and Wilma,
Thanks for sharing you Beautiful home.
How many square meters is the lot?
Maybe you posted but I mist it.
Thank you.
1100 square meters.
That is nice and big. Is there more lots available up there?
Facebook messenger Alma Almonte Fulco and she will know where available land for sale is.
Wow, 1100sqm lot. I thought it was bigger than that. This really helps me because most of the lots for sale seem like around that size of lot, which I thought was too small. Very beautiful place Wilma and Greg.

We unpacked several already in Leyte. 99% of item were fine. Some broken glass, ceramic patters and a few vases were broken.
Coming along nicely! Also, if you don't mind me asking, what size is your pool?
Thank you. The pool is 5m x 10m

Keeping it modern looking. No railings. Thanks for the question.
@@buildingthephilippines Thanks for answering. It is a little bigger step 🪜 down than I thought it would be but it is hard to tell on video, especially before the cement is poured below.
The steps ended up being 8.5 inches. Not bad at all.
It looks great! How much square meter is your lot? It looks a manageable size maintenance wise
1100 square meters. Large enough for us as we wanted a wall around the property as well as all landscaped.
I will be curious on where the land will be purchased for the new international airport in Bacong/Dauin/Valencia area. Hopefully the flight path does not cross your beautiful property.
If it happens it's 10 to 20 years before it's operational. My guess is that it will never be funded.
In Bacong somewhere.

The heater is working great. We adjusted it down one time as it was a bit too hot. No further adjustments as it just right.

*hard.
