What's going on here is in Ruina, you turn people into books, and your librarians are able to take pages from those books, allowing them to use the attacks, abilities, etc. of the people they once were. So with Roland using pages resembling the mod author's other characters... It's saying Roland killed them all and is using their powers.
Carmen's Solemn Lament + Magic Bullet barrage pounding Roland into him just matrix-ing his way into melee range was the stuff of proportional epicness. Also Carmen grabbing and taunting into the game winning combo was *Chef's Kiss*
I really enjoyed this video though I have to say for my experience librarian requires a lot of planning, but that’s probably just because I haven’t put a lot of time into that character
