    Nice kit. I'm glad to see a "bushcraft" kit that doesn't weigh over 40 lbs. Many people have a kit/pack they can't carry over a mile. You can spot a green horn from their pack contents. Anymore mom about all I carry is a thermarest mat, Mora 1, army canteen + cup, painters drop cloth (for A frame super shelter), couple mylar blankets, cordage, Swedish firesteel with whistle, Western mountaineering ultralight down bag, few wraps of gorilla tape, shemagh, platypus water filter. All in a snug pack sleeka 35 rucksack.

    I don't have a specific "day kit", I just have one simple bag of everything I need, it only lacks a tent and sleeping bag I use for overnight camping, but I also always carry a tarpaulin for versatile use. I also know where my towel is - it's in my bag. :) I was out on a hike with a dodgy guy who gave me some strange drugs, and he took me down a pitch black tunnel. In the middle of it I began to freak out and get really hot. And I really wanted to go home, where I had my comforts. Then I remembered that very comfortably on my back was everything I ever need, even in the worst of situations I could find comfort and make anywhere my home. And everything was all right. :)

    • @ALoonwolf
      @ALoonwolf 8 лет назад

      But in addition to my bag of supplies, I always carry in my pockets a few vitally important and useful items - so even if I lose my bag, everything is STILL all right.

    I like it. Its not much different from my weekend pack, depending on the time of year. My day pack is a lot less then that though.But either way, its still a nice pack. Its for the day, but it is prepared for more. Thats something a lot of people just don't do, big mistake. Also, I have been using a 60 lb. draw crossbow pistol with a red dot sight instead of carrying a bow with me. Its been working out great for small game.

Thank you!

Axe is just over 2lbs its a good light hiking axe at 19", the bow is a 55lb Fred Bear Archery Montana Longbow, its an excellent bow. Be well; respect.

I think I need to ditch my propane one burner stove and propane one mantle lantern.and if course the two bottles of propane. That would drop considerable weight. I m not sure though because this also doubles as my emergency kit. Maybe I invest in a short term pack like yours. Any ideas.

    "I keep a haversack in my kit for obvious reasons." lol...for "obvious reasons"? Apparently, I must be the stupidest person watching this video, because it's not "obvious" to me why you would put a haversack in a backpack. I mean, you could say the same about a bowling ball - yes, it's obvious what a bowling ball is used for, but pulling it out of a backpack might suggest a bit more explanation. Otherwise, great video!
