  • Homemade Creme de Menthe is an easy and delicious recipe that can go toe to toe with the stuff you can buy at the store! That’s why today we’ll make it two ways: first we’ll use mint essential oils for a quick version, followed by another with dried mint tea. To test them out I’ll also make a Grasshopper cocktail that feels like eating After Eight thin mints, so if you’re ready for a sweet, minty & chocolate-y episode - and if you want to learn more about how to use Essential Oils safely in your drinks - pull up a chair and get ready. It’s Cocktail Time!

Fun fact, the method of using high proof alcohol to dissolve essential oil is the same process by which the concentrated flavor base of modern sodas are made. The original Coca Cola recipe called their flavor concentrate the "7x mixture", and this stuff is *POTENT* with only a _tiny_ amount present in a can of soda, so do be very particular in your measurements when using your own essential oil so that you don't start seeing colors.

    Edit.
One question that lingers around from the creme de cacao video: if someone has some good white chocolate (the pricey line of my supermarket even has actual vanilla beans and you can see the dots) can it be used instead of the cacao butter to get a more intense flavour? Maybe adding few nibs like the makers of the one you got as a gift.

Looked it up on Difford's Guide and it says: "In the EEC liqueurs named 'crème' must contain a minimum sugar content of 200g per litre, with the exception of blackcurrant (crème de cassis) which must contain 400g per litre."
