I was struck by Violet's incredible resilience and I have great admiration for her. She has become a beloved figure in our household, and even my young daughters appreciate her. I don’t know how you stay so relaxed about it all. I’d be staying at home having peace if I had to consider such a long trip with a baby. But I admire your adventurous spirit.
Me, too. I did take Scouts for a few campouts but I did not enjoy it at all.
Sometimes God creates an obstacle to direct us in a way we might have missed. What a blessed adventure with your sweet family, even though you're exhausted. We enjoyed your day with you!

That was a big mistake not booking the ferry in advance. But at least you got to explore Homer, which you would otherwise have bypassed.

My Husband and I will be in Homer Aug 10-12th before heading over to Kachemak wilderness lodge by boat. You gave me some more places to visit. We planned our 30th wedding anniversary to Alaska because of your adventures! You do a great job representing your state. ❤

We take the ferry at least 10 times every summer and have NEVER needed to book. If it is a holiday, book ahead!! Thanks for watching!
This was a beautiful surprise. I woke up early and there you were. The scenery is amazing, I watch The Deadliest Catch and they never show the area around Homer. There is sure a lot to see and do. You all looked so tired at the end of the trip. Thank you for sharing.❤

Years ago we had planned to go glamping on the Homer spit and do some serious fishing with family from AK. Life changed and it never happened. Having seen your day trip, I hope I can still make that happen or at least some version of it.

It is good you all adapt to changes in plans so well. What a bummer to get to Homer and not be able to get on the ferry you had planned on. Glad you could at least find several nice things to do all day while waiting, it would have been terrible to be in the middle of nowhere and wait that long. Sometimes enexpected things that come up during travel can create beautiful other moments that you wouldn't have otherwise. The food looked really good and what a cool spot !! Miss Violet is so very precious !! I loved the xylophone music you picked for that segment of the video !! I would love to take my family to see some of the gorgeous views you've shown us over the years. So much to see and so much to do in Alaska !! I wish you and Mark had more energy to take on this trip so you guys could enjoy it more. Luckily a few days at the cabin followed the road trip and i hope you guys had fun !! ❤

We were in your beautiful state July 13-23. Our second Alaskan cruise, but first time going to Denali National Park. We saw Mt Denali 4 days in a row!

From leaving my house it's a 5 hour drive then 2hr and 40min ferry and 25 mins drive on other side
