Gen was jealous that Keiichi was getting the position in the first place. Keiichi knew what was needed for the company and Gen didn't. That's why Keiichi dad chose him not Gen

IT's because they heard from the former VP about the changes MC was going to make to the company. While, yes, in most cases, it could be initially bad, but considering the fact that the old design team was starting to rest on their laurels, being given preferential treatment due to seniority, it would've been a welcome change to reintroduce competition into the system.
Unfortunately, the old design team had gotten so lazy, the moment they heard that their smooth sailing boat was about to be rocked, rather than trying to ride it out, they decided to jump ship instead. Well, to continue using water metaphors, they jump right into the stormy waters, and realized a little too late that they forgot how to swim, leading to them having difficulties finding new employment when the raft they thought was safe haven also sunk because of their laziness, especially when the very ship they jumped from initially had ultimately weathered the storm, and had long sailed off(they were likely black listed by their old company via the twin sisters)

Gen Tanaka's way of treating the veteran employees is so bad that if it was real life other Japanese companies would laugh at him as even they know that if you spoil the veteran employees like this they well just pawn off the tough task to the newcomers and work on the easy task. Also they well find the easiest way to complete the job they are given even if it means breaking business law. Keiichi's way of treating his employees is what Japanese company would do as if you treat them as equals they well continue to work hard.

Veteran doesn't mean they are privileged. They are just more experienced. However, that's no reason to spoil them just because they've been in the company for a long time and made some important contributions. If they slack off or wasn't able to produce results because they get easy money just because of they are veterans, they become a liability which would affect the whole company.

The fate of Gen Tanka and Keichi 's previous co workers : At first they enjoyed themselves to start with the business, but then Keichi and his sisters meet each other and because Gen Tanka copies just for his employee's sake. Of course his rougery came to light, then everyone started to blaming him. Eventually the company became bankrupt. Then one day they noticed that both Keichi and sisters life were became uphall. They want to make up for them. Just in time that some foreign people who are now joined their company noticed them. Of course they are wise enough to realise that why they resigned just because betrayed. Keichi ' s previous co workers weren't fluent English so they have no choice but to leave behind. And Gen Tanka's bad deeds was being gossiping by the neighbours and his wife being so mad when he heard from them. She yelled at him and divorced, and his kids said," I hate you, dad. You betrayed your boss, you no longer our dad. Go away." He was also disowned by his parents, his father said," Shame on you, the fromer boss is my saviour when I had nothing. You no longer our family." And hismother slapped him and said," You should be embarrassed by your reflection."
And what about his previous co workers you may ask? They kept job hunting but because rumors spread like wildfire, they totally jobless. Of course the last time when Keichi and his sisters saw them, they were like zombies.

I mean, talking about just TVs alone, have you SEEN how competitive all the big name tv manufacturers have been with their displays? especially the ones who have their own screen manufacturing subsidiaries, like Samsung. LG, and Sony(via JDI). The fucking rush to one-up each other year-after-year has basically kept the competition fierce in the "who's display is the best in market" category.

I can understand why they quit. This is partially on MC and mostly the fathers fault, they should have made it a plan earlier on that MC would be the next president not drop that bomb all of a sudden. It's such a drastic change they're asking them to gamble on. Was he ever even trained to be the next president? Yeah it's pretty stupid and a bit selfish for them to expect loyalty there over Gen even if he was a bastard in the end. From the employees perspective some newbie president that only got the job because he was the previous' son is doing an overhaul of the company and its business practices. Yeaaaahhhh not hard to see why they didn't want to take that gamble. Gen is an asshole though since there may have been a few who were willing to take a chance on MC but got paranoid because of Gen and how many other people were leaving leading to even more leaving.
This story relied more on luck than hard work from the MC and it kinda came off as cringe with how forced it was. There was another story they had like this but it was done better in that because the MC was actually prep'd to be the president and it wasn't dropped on the employees like in this one.

He's too entrenched in the stability that the company had produced, and had ended up only favoring the opinion of the "old guard" designers, resulting in unintentional bias in the workplace, to the point that he himself was blinded from the truth, all in the name of "caring for the employees", not realizing that he's neglecting the new staff, especially in term of training(one of the employees who jumped ship looked young, so he probably had little to no training as a designer in the home appliance field, and ended up thinking "oh, hey, this is a pretty easy job, I don't have to put in actual work and innovate, just copy and paste!")

Unless backstory was axed explaining how gen spun it. Like saying keichi wasn't going to take over but on a whim changed his mind. And knew nothing about the company.
