I'm reminded of this track every time I remove the cheese slicer from the kitchen drawers because it sounds like the start of this track. Cheese and Steel keepin it real in 2022.

Oh hey, another Zappa/Tobin fan here. This is an amazing piece from a stellar album, thanks for sharing.
Varese has many amazing pieces but mostly it's way too experimental at least for me.

I would say it's more like two sequences of 8/8 bars. 3+5 and then whenever there are horns at the end: 3+3+2. Great piece.

It does remind me of a steel factory in the 1930s

@beefjerky3 There's definitely also a sample in there from debussy's Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun, not xylophones though ;)

Bernard Hermann is actually one of my favorite composers. Twisted Nerve is one of the greatest compositions ever written. I have looked all over the place for information on the samples used, but couldn't find anything. If your a fan of Hermann you should check out Edgard Varèse. amazing stuff.

i think its a 8/8 but treated in a weird way, like 3+3+2 or something

    love the song, BUT
... the editing could have been so much better if you would have adjusted the movie's speed to the song's beat, instead of just placing the song under the movie.

It's a one shot sample of the video, but it's timing is warped to elements of the music throughout (using ableton live). It's an offbeat song in general, so the video was adjusted to it as such. This is a quality that is found throughout a lot of my earlier stuff. Later on I started to cut the source videos up as well, after getting the warping technique down.
