🎵 "She's Always a Woman" is the 7th track on Billy Joel's 1977 album The Stranger. It is a love song about a modern woman who the singer has fallen totally in love with to the extent of falling for her endearing quirks as well as her flaws. A chilling fact about the song is that a Muzak version of the track was one of the last songs played over the loudspeakers at the former World Trade Center complex before its collapse.
🐥 This is the piece I was talking about practicing when I posted my All My Loving cover. It took a little bit longer than expected considering I had about 3/4th of the song memorized in February. However it's finally here. As you may know by now I love Billy Joel's music and "She's Always a Woman" is no exception. I found a quality transcription done by The Flaming Piano here on RUclips, definitely check out his stuff here: / noone99990 . The arrangement he transcribed however kind of glazed over some of the parts from the recording. To fix this I edited his transcription and added in some parts that were initially missing. However, kudos to him for arranging it to begin with. It's an absolute barrage of notes and syncopation but I assure any advanced pianists that if you keep playing it the muscle memory and note memory will come. I hope you enjoyed it. This is definitely Billy Joel’s hardest song to play solo piano in its entirety and it’s complexity is vastly underrated

I haven’t read notes for 30 years and now I’m going back to piano lessons in beginners level & I’m not ashamed of it. Someday when I get back on track I hope I can play like you. It was pretty beastly for sure. I learned the ending and the beginning in like a month and a half but the middle minute took the most time haha. I also wanted to make sure I memorized it before posting (no reason in particular just so I don't feel like a weak willed pianist haha) so that took longer as well. I am studying this exact arrangement, since i adore it! However, in some way, my version doesn't sound quite so let's say equal.. meaning, i don't seem to get that smoothness.. any suggestions from anybody? anybody else playing this beautiful arrangement?
Kathleen Preso any part in particular that you’re having problems with? I know controlling the dynamics was a big thing with this one in order to give it some depth. That along with having the arpeggios being in time with each other for maybe that smoothness you’re talking about?

No, not the arpeggios, just making sure both hands have the same volume while making sure the melody pops out, yes controlling the dynamics is the most difficult part.. ... i think i've listened to yours a zillion times by now... yours sounds so nice!!

Despite your absolutely hilarious username, this is one of the most tasteful renditions of She's Always a Woman I have heard in a good while. Also, your addition of the lyrics in the video captions is an exquisite and infinitely helpful touch for those who may not know the lyrics.
