The fact that people care what you’re doing with an item after you buy it, especially after paying full asking price and not negotiating, is beyond me.
I think both policies (former and present) are hypocritical. Virtually all used video game stores are resellers (buying for less than market value and selling it for more than was paid).
As a business owner, I don't care if you make a million dollars off something I sold. I priced it and was happy at the time of your purchase... My response to the question if im a reseller is always " Do you not like money?"
I’m glad you went back and asked for clarification, that would have ruined my day you shopping at that store countless times, spending so much money and doing business with them
Just started watching your channel recently. Instantly recognized the store from the thumb nail as i used to shop there as a kid and remember when the store opened. Its a small world.
I don’t understand how a store can refuse a sale for goods with a marked price ??? Makes no sense especially when you have spent so much over the years at this store what an idiot of a manager stupid policy and if it was me wouldn’t give them business again

That’s awesome that you got the gold star and the shining cards I’m actually the original owner and the person that graded those 3 psa slabs. Cool to see that they get to go from me and end up into your collection.
Games are already up charged too much. So yeah it may not help in the long run, but I completely understand their policy. It's nice to keep prices reasonable.
With the Pokémon packs, it's not just fakes you have to look out for, it's often resealed packs, which can be tricky as the pack itself will look fine, it's only when you open them that you see the residue and glue if they are done well. There is a lot of scummy people out there unfortunately.
What I don’t understand is if you spent that much time in that much money at that place and they’re just now asking you if you’re a reseller? What’s up with that? Why didn’t they ask you if you were a reseller before?
I haven’t been as much lately. They’ve been in business for quite a while now. Managers have changed and things have changed since they opened. The current manager was very nice when we went back in!
You shouldn’t stop at just the gold stars even though they are the most expensive. You should go for all the shiny ones from each generation, call of legends the black and white gold ones
I get the logic... At the end of the day resellers do actually drive pricing of products up artifically by buying and selling stuff for the most they can. At the end of the day it is a business but I think the idea not selling to resellers too because you actaully like selling product to people who aren't actually looking to use it does seem bad. I think some people see resllers like scalpers is the only issue.
I understand how they dont want resellers, selling their stuff. but if they are selling their stuff for a flat price knowing that some of their stuff could have more value. Then they shouldn't be upset at someone coming in and buying their stuff to flip. They're still getting a sale for the prices they are wanting. So turning people away like that will sadly only hurt them more than help.
I’m sorry that bad experience happened to you at disc traders. That is good that they somewhat made it right. It’s a little odd that they would have special rules against other retailers. If I saw you coming into a store I owned wanting to give me money for my items, I would roll out the red carpet for you. You’re the best kind of customer. That’s good the man at the pawn shop sees that and appreciates you. He seems like a cool guy.
My home store won't accommodate resellers if they're not regular customers. I sell in my local area and some of my inventory comes from them, they have no problem selling to me because I'm in there once a week. Gotta make connections
That employee of Disc Traders clearly doesn't understand the definition of business... To be successful in business is not just making a profit, it's to satisfy customers to where they want to come back.
Imagine all the sales they don't make because of that rule, it makes no sense I assume the manager isn't the business owner (and if they are good luck!) Your pawnbroker is the best dude, i wish he was in my town
I’ve seen rules like these before which makes zero sense based off of the fact that we are paying the same price as someone who would be buying it for a personal reason
I've got about 2,500 Pokémon cards ranging from 1st generation till now if you'd be interested. They aren't mint edition but I have tried to keep most of them in the best condition I could.

Interesting Policy, I used to have a retail store, and to me a sale was a sale as both parties are happy with the deal. Anyway although I don’t collect Pokémon or games, I do love your collection and the new little black display units. Keep Sellin.
i am so sorry they did that to you, you looked so heartbroken when one of your Fav shops wouldn't sell to you. Good on you for telling the truth but that still sucks.
Very nice addition to the PokeCollection!! Love to see the old Shining cards. Still very happy with my Shining Charizard (which i hope to get graded some day). Those slab mounts are beautiful! I would be very interested in purchasing some when they are available!
The rule is ridiculous. They need to sell stock at the prices stated, you want to buy at those prices. It doesn't matter if you are a reseller or not, a sale is a sale. If they feel you are making too much profit they should price their games higher.
I got kicked out of a local vintage star wars collectors group for being a "reseller". I'm a huge Kenner star wars collector myself and shortly after removing me some of the club members started setting up to sell at local toy shows where I set up
Here in Quebec Canada it's the same thing, if you intend to resell what you buy,so video game shops and collectors learn this, you will be destroyed on social networks as if you were the devil, the mentality here is not open at all to resale!
Tell your video game stores that they can also list all their items on eBay and Amazon for full market value and have the co-ordination to ensure that they don't accidently sell in store, something that it's still listed on eBay or Amazon and vice versa to squeeze out an extra 10 - 20% after fees. It's ridiculous, especially when some of these tenured store owners already have established sources of inventory and could benefit from consistent buyers too.
A lot of the disk replays, mega replay, and disk traders are starting to not allow resellers get the deals. Theirs one in Indy thats next to a walmart, I think south west they refuse to give me the promotions but allow me to buy. Overall I think its kinda messed up since they are resellers also
The irony of the resell is they are reselling, but you can't resell to the reseller that will resell? Talk about pot calling the kettle black on that one. I hate when a business gets political, there is zero reason not to sell to a reseller, you both win from the transaction. A business should only care about their bottom line not force an opinion or care about what happens to items that leave the store.
Either way man the games were for sale and it’s a business. Why would they not want to just make the sale, make the money and move on to more inventory with the newly acquired funds. Especially with those game guides that you bought. I’m sure they say in that local store for months if not a whole year.
if the heart behind it is so that the shelves aren't wiped clean when the average Joe/Sally comes to buy the game that they want for nostalgia's sake then yes, the policy makes sense. There should be a limit on the volume of items for one person.
I don’t get it. They have a price on it so if they get what they asked it shouldn’t matter what happens to it. If you don’t want to sell it then take it off the floor.
Stores like this need to go out of business. Why should it matter if you sell to Adam or Eve when you gotta pay your own bills. If I sell something and get paid for it, I couldn't give half a crap what you do with it. Hell, take the game out on a date if you're so inclined, just don't tell me what happens that night.
I see this in two ways, one that the business owners don't want people to make money off them.. This usually allows them to not have to worry about price adjusting all the time as you said prices change so often up and down. The economics way and business sense is they aren't getting as many trade-ins as they used to, trade-ins is how these businesses function. If Mom/Dad buys a game for Junior at a game store that means in future that game will likely be traded back into that store.. if a Reseller buys it that game likely won't be back on their shelves for them to keep profiting off of. In reality they're a business, if you refuse sales then you're only shooting yourself in the foot.
That is shocking. What does it have to do with them after you have purchased. Also it does not matter if they sell it to reseller or a collector they are getting the same money they asked for. Even if it is resolved it still shocking that it happened in the first place
Just promotes dishonesty in my opinion. A store I frequent I did tell the owner that I do some reselling on the side but I also said that’s the only way I can afford to buy more from him and he totally gets it. I’m not bartering for deals or anything but he does get some inventory from me as well because I like to trade in a bunch of stuff for higher end items for my collection. it’s a really good relationship I feel. Different business models mean different margins and I respect what it takes to run a brick and mortar.
hey chase where is his pawn shop located? I live in Michigan and this place seems kinda of familiar. is it battlecreek? looking into getting into pokemon as well and some of those cards at that pawn shop are pulling me in to get a couple
When I ran game and dvd reseller stores we would sell to reseller but limit the sales for one good reason. If a reseller buys out all your A titles then yes you made money but when the other 99 percent of customers come in and don’t see a titles they don’t come back. You need the non resellers to get a piece of the action with the A titles as well because they will buy those as well as the B and C titles which are more common and for the reseller the bulk of what people bring in to trade. The reseller isn’t going to buy those titles because of no resell value but the small B and C titles are what keep a brick and mortar in business
Who cares if he resells it, gives it away as a gift, or wants to smash it with a hammer. It's been paid for, what you do after you pay I could care less
If we're being honest here, the resolution is still bullshit. A reseller is still a customer and it should make no difference what the customers' intentions of doing with the merchandise after they legally own it. If they have coupons or daily deals, then that should apply to all customers. I understand that's not a big deal to most people, but it's more about principle. There's also a legality argument here. Stores can choose to serve or refuse service to anyone they like as long as this decision isn't made in combination with other stores to eliminate competition or in an attempt to create or maintain a monopoly, which is the part that's applicable here. If they don't want people taking 10 of the same thing, then it's on them to either price their items closer to market or leave some meat so they can move more volume at lesser margins. The real reason they do this is to eliminate competition. Brick and mortar stores like this have a very hard time surviving vs online sellers with significantly less overhead, so they aim to slow down their eventual collapse in any way that they can.
I love watching this Pokémon pursuit quest, such a cool journey 🤩❤Love guide books as well. What the hell bro?? Why can't you buy to re-sell?? So you buy stuff from a store, and they decide for you what you can and can't do with your bought stuff?! That is just stupid. Specially since you are such a good customer. What a sh*t store, I would never buy again in that store!! insane!
its so he can keep prices low for non-resellers and so honest collectors can get games and enjoy them not at ebay prices. Would you have bought and sold the games for the same price or mark them to ebay prices/amazon changing a 9.99 game to 24.99 as an example. Not alot of people can afford to just go pay mark up prices all the time so its nice the game store stuck to its policy, gives the local community a chance to play at reasonable prices
You don’t need to answer their questions, it’s none of their business, you’re a business they are business. Just remember you don’t need give anyone an answer to avoid lying (this is for anyone)
I have listened to the end and still think it is wrong. Surely brick and mortar are struggling as it is and they want to incurrage more sales in store nor less. It they don't want to sell to resellers then they should either sell on amazon themselves too or price items correctly
Damn this was a low blow, I cant seem to find those games like crash bandicoot in the wild, at my game shops near me, it hurts, I just want them to throw on the shelf for the game room, and here you found 2 outta the ps1 classics, sheew dope finds
I don’t understand the policy. Why would they care if it was a reseller or not in any regard. A sale is a sale. Even as a reseller I sell console bundles to other resellers who get more money on Amazon and that’s fine by me. Plus as you mentioned you have done thousands of dollars of business with them and would continue to do thousands of buisness with them. It just doesn’t make any sense why they would care where the games go after they sell them.
Simple, talk to the manager and just state your case. You bring free advertising plus thousands upon thousands spent. If they let you walk away that is on them. The free advertising alone should be enough to get them to overlook their policy. Now its a business and we aren't entitled to their store, but they are also not entitled to your time or money. Just makes no sense if you get banned from buying there, I wouldn't complain I would just never give them my business again.
How strange that resellers hate resellers. Don’t get me wrong as much more a collector then a reseller I understand price gouging sucks but getting stuff from different markets helps the community a ton, some stuff just doesn’t sell in certain places and some stuff you can’t keep.
The fact that people care what you’re doing with an item after you buy it, especially after paying full asking price and not negotiating, is beyond me.
Vincent spotted in the wild!!!
Stupid policy
Strangest part about the old manager's policy against resellers is that they were technically a reseller themselves 🤔

I find it hilarious that they won’t sell to a reseller, when they themselves are resellers just in a brick and mortar store. Pretty ironic.
I’d be interested in that Sony camera if you ever go back!
Where’s the pawn shop location? I randomly have traded sports cards with Frankie out in the wild at sports card shows pretty cool/nice dude
I have a rare mew gold star too. Not graded
Nice! It’s such a cool card
Hats off to Matt the engineer 👏 ❤
Legend. Good friend. Kind heart. Good soul. Genius.
I have listened to the end and still think it is wrong. Surely brick and mortar are struggling as it is and they want to incurrage more sales in store nor less. It they don't want to sell to resellers then they should either sell on amazon themselves too or price items correctly
If they have it for sell, sell it. it’s none of their business what people do with their purchases
Damn this was a low blow, I cant seem to find those games like crash bandicoot in the wild, at my game shops near me, it hurts, I just want them to throw on the shelf for the game room, and here you found 2 outta the ps1 classics, sheew dope finds
Me checking out chase's power tools :)
