- I’m a big fan of Madewell bags. I used to own 2 and they were absolute workhorses and held up so well for years. I’ve personally found that Madewell leather bags are very durable and often develop a beautiful rich patina over time. I was also really pleased when @tanner.leatherstein deconstructed one of Madewell’s bags and spoke about how well it was made and the value for price. So in this video, I take you along with me to choose a new Madewell bag. It was so hard to decide on just one bag because I liked several! Please share which bag is your favorite! I had such a hard time deciding on just one bag so I walked out empty handed and now I wonder if I made a mistake! Madewell is coming out with some really great bags!! What do you think?

I ended up buying the brown sling bag myself. Using the little pocket for keys. It holds a surprising amount and is a little more “elevated” than my Uniqlo lol. I’m wearing it a ton. Great color and leather. ❤
I’ve owned a few Madewell bags for years. The quality is excellent. I had a tan leather backpack but it scratched easily-it made it look broken in and vintage though so I didn’t mind. I also own a tote and a crossbody and they’re great for times I’m wearing outfits that I don’t want paired with my labeled bags.

I like how some of the woven leather pieces are not just the basic criss-cross pattern, but the "infinite cube" one! It's good to see other brands being highlighted ☺
Yes the puff the crossbody has that design and it looks almost 3D! Pretty cool texture as well.
I was in a Nordstrom rack and came upon a Madewell bag from the piazza line in the bucket style. I tried it on and walked around with it while shopping and couldn’t put it back. I love the camel color and the leather is amazing! I can’t stop touching it when I have the bag on. They make great bags!
Ok this was me in the store!! I kept petting the mini Piazza bag and didn’t want to put it down! So glad to hear you’re enjoying your Piazza bucket bag. I didn’t even know they had a bucket version. So good!
I purchased the small piazza and wore it today. The leather is so buttery soft. It is so comfortable to wear crossbody. I love it.

I have the Mini Piazza bag, and it is so soft and easy to use. It looks especially cute if you tighten the drawstrings - it turns into a little dumpling. I don’t have any issues with wear or indents in the leather, but I don’t jam it full, either. The only con is the crossbody strap. It’s kind of cheap looking. I primarily use it with the top handles, so it’s not that big a deal.
The Evelyn is just soo cute. Those are cute bags. Leather looks luxurious.
I just got the piazza crossbody a couple days ago and love it so much already but man that mini is really cute and I keep wondering if I should have gone for that. I like the low profile and the sleek look like you pointed out here and I think it would just be nice for using everyday when I just have my essentials with me. It is a beautiful bag though and I’m really happy with my purchase. I’m glad I got the smoother leather in my order too!
I love madewell! I always come back to their jeans. Comfiest jeans ever and love that they do free hemming. I have a few of their bags now and sometimes I wear them more than my designer bags. They are so beautifully made, buttery, light, and hard wearing like u said. A lot of the times u can jusy buff out the scratches with a leather conditioner too! Will get this on sale for travel especially ❤
I love their bags too. My old Madewell bags developed such beautiful patina over time. I need to try their jeans!! And belt too… I’ve been eyeing their belts.

Love Madewell. I own two of their bags. I have the Transport small zip tote and the Transport camera bag. I’ve been eyeing the Carabiner crossbody in Dried Maple and the Sling bag also in that chocolate raisin color.
I love Madewell. I haven’t tried their bags yet but I just started shopping there last June and love the clothes and shoes I’ve purchased from there. The leather on the loafers I have is so soft.

Madewell makes beautiful bags. My pieces have held up well over the years. Their zip top totes, canvas utility bag and the Sydney bags are amazing. I hope you give them a chance.

I would go back for the tote. I bought the woven tote it in marzipan color. I also bought the woven small crossbody you tried on in a cream and the magenta suede.

I had ordered the sling bag a few weeks ago in the metallic colour (think it was called Pewter) and it *just* reached me today after a little delivery mishap. Love the size, but I’m trying to be conscious of not over-stuffing it cos this shape looks best with a slight slouch. Excited to start using it properly! I intend to use the little outer pocket to hold my AirPods cos that’s something that tends to get a bit lost in the main compartments. Now I’m tempted by the Choc Raisin colour! 😂

They are all beautiful! I do love the tote bag. The one you went in for to have a look reminds me of the Uniqlo bag… 😂 maybe that’s why I love it too! The little side zip pocket is awesome… easy access to the house keys for sure!
Yes, it looks and feels like an elevated version of the Uniqlo sling! And that size zipper compartment is so smart!

I had and returned the larger piazza tote in black bc it was soooo soft it just collapsed once I put a few things in it. Overall I love their leather and was considering the sling when I was in store last week. Bought a great dress!
Oh yes, I can see that happening bc it’s so soft! I think the mini Piazza with its shorter “body” would be better to manage the slouch. Glad you found a great dress!

Absolutely love the sling bag in chocolate raisin. I’m trying to gauge the size - would you say it is bigger or smaller than the Uniqlo mini round bag? I love my Uniqlo after your recommendation and looking for an elevated leather version. Thanks ❤
It’s a good-looking bag and definitely more elevated than the Uniqlo. I’d say it’s roughly about the same size as the Uniqlo, except the Madewell is more elongated in shape whereas the Uniqlo is more rounded. It also feels a bit more structured obviously since it’s leather and not nylon. Hope that helps!
Hi, would you recommend cuyana tote bag or madewell transport tote 😊?
Can I say BOTH? 😂 Seriously, this is THE question I was asking myself in the Madewell store. I kept thinking, I already have my leather tote from Cuyana which I adore, do I really “need” another tote? Here’s my thinking - the Cuyana tote is beautiful, but it’s a different silhouette with a wider shape. It can be worn on the shoulder or you can use the shorter top handles to carry crook-of-the-arm, which is nice. The Madewell however, I just know from personal experience with my older Madewell transport tote that it holds up REALLY well over the years. And since I let go of my Madewell bags after much use, I think I’m missing having another Madewell bag in my wardrobe. I also really loved the exterior pocket on the Madewell Medium Transport tote that I had. It was so handy for plopping my phone in there for easy access. The Cuyana tote doesn’t have any exterior pockets. Now… the woven version of the Madewell tote that I tried on in this video does NOT have an exterior pocket. Oh, also… the Madewell tote comes with a detachable longer strap so you can wear it crossbody, hands free if you wanted. All in all, they’re both fantastic totes with slight differences. The Cuyana, even in the small size which is what I have, is quite roomy but not as structured. The Madewell is slimmer and taller, and isn’t structured either but given the shape, items will sit more neatly inside, such as a laptop for example if you’re considering these as work bags. So it all depends on what you’re looking for, but I like both a lot and I would recommend both. You probably don’t need both though. Hope that helps!

Hi! Go back to the store and get that tote! I was at a store here in my town (actually I work for the brand- subsidiary of-so I ❤ them!) and saw that very bag but wasn’t shopping for yet another bag that I don’t need 😂 so I didn’t get it but regretted it! I ended up calling them to find one at a different store and they are shipping it to me now! I’m so excited I found it and at such a terrific 🏷️. It’s so good!! I love the look and feel of it. That side zipper is everything! I just wish my larger iPhone would slip in that compartment more easily. Do you put your phone in there? Or what do you use that compartment for?
@@hellocatwalkcity In the side zipper I normally will keep my lip balm or keys in there. I mainly have my phone in my hand but will just pop it into the large compartment when I need to be hands free. I have been using everyday since I picked it up about 5 or 6 days ago. Which says a lot for me since normally I switch out my hand bag almost everyday.

I need help cuyana small tote vs the madewell essentials tote? I’m leaning towards the cuyana but with the zipper ?!?!
They’re both great options. The Madewell essential tote has more compartments and has a more structured leather, and is slightly heavier as a result. The Cuyana tote is softer, no pockets except the inside one and feather light. They both have the long shoulder straps plus the shorter top handle straps. I don’t think you can go wrong - choose the one that works best for you!

Does the leather on the essential tote feel supple and good quality?
It feels very durable and hard-wearing but it doesn’t feel supple. It feels flat, if that makes sense. There’s no cushion or plushness so I wouldn’t call it supple, no.

The black one is really cute too! It sort of reminded me of my Polene Numero Neuf mini in black, which is probably why I kept reaching for the tan color instead. They’re both adorable and roomier than expected inside.
