I went to the bins for the first time last week and it was a mad house everyone run and tossing things it was kind of funny watch people going crazy over them. I found a few good things but I just waited till everyone was done tossing everything lol
I hear you Texas Gal Treasures, the one thing I really dislike is being short, because when you are short, you can't reach the back of the bins. Being short is no fun at all, if anybody bullies you and calls you shorty, that is being bullied. My dad got bullied a long time ago when he was in High School. Sabrina Griffin.
Love the bins! Besides the stuff you talked about, one thing that I would like to advise is that things get broken in the bins. Always watch for pieces of glass from picture frames, mirrors, and other items, especially the thin glass items. Also watch for blades from food processors and knife sets. I rarely have anything specific that I am searching for, but I do make it a point to grab all the name brand hotwheels, matchbox, and johnny lightning cars. Lastly, I managed to have a $3k sapphire and diamond ring slip off my hand in a bin in Spokane, Washington. I never found it, so wearing gloves is a must! Grab a bag, or some sort of a lightweight container, to put your small finds in so they don't fall out of your shopping cart.
The large unfinished tool box at the beginning was for artists. Very valuable The fabulous dog missing leg--you could rescue him by having him peek out of a planter/flower arrangement..
I don't resell all the time but I do go to the local goodwill bins a couple of times a year for the fun of it. Yes, I love the fun of the dig as gross as it can be. It engages my ADHD brain perfectly. Probably 10 years ago I found a red hoodie. I love hoodies, gave it a once over and it looked pretty good so I grabbed it, When I got it home it was an authentic Liverpool football (soccer) hoodie that was apparently close to new. I wear it several times a week to this day during our mild Texas winters to this day! Just wanted to share.
I’ve been to the bins once so far. I had fun and just went to places where there was no one else. I sell both clothes and hard goods. I found 21 things and it ended up costing about 99 cents an item. Hard goods were hard to find like glass, fo example, because they were all damaged in some way. I happened to get a glimpse into them pouring via some kind of dumping machinery into a in and the hard good have a large crashing drop from the source to the bin below so no wonder everything glass-related is broken.
I just discovered the bins 23 min. from my house! It's so addicting.....now I go twice a week and I have even made friends. I do crafts and have found lots of craft supplies and even bags for when I do shows. I don't wear a mask anymore because of fogging up my glasses- but I'm considering trying a neck gaiter that YAS- I found new at the bins. haha
I use a magnifying glass app to see markslike that. Photo is a good idea too. My daughter is good at finding high end clothing when we go, although i usually stick to vintage like you. It does surprise me when people miss what i find.
Teaching on autopilot! Keep pumping out those puppies! They draw attention :) Still smart as hell about the ' "real" stuff too I noticed; hopefully that one made an impression because it's so important right now :( ** Wonderful seeing you thriving safely and having fun again :)
For glassware with small openings I used broken up dentures tablets. Just break up a few tabs with some warm water. Let it soak for awhile then just rinse it out.
I don't have an actual bins store close by, but there's a local thrift that puts about 50 gaylords of clothes out for a weekend, a few times a year. That's how I started clothes. It's so overwhelming, the first time I just picked the most obnoxious clothes I came across. LOLOL But they always sold. Since then my picking has improved to brand, styles, and awesome vintage finds there. But I will always pick up the loud stuff. Guaranteed somebody somewhere will have to have it.
I have only been to the bins twuce as it is 4 hours away. I am intriuged and horrified. I found a set of curtains that sold for 40. This time I got a box of vintage shiny brites ornaments!
I love your site, because you thrift because you love it, not for the money. You are doing it for your home. Your sweet gentle spirit shines through. And your soft voice reminds me of my friend Dory here in Ohio!
I live in Ohio, and the closest Goodwill bins store is located almost an hour away from me in Akron, Ohio. I always have to take a Lyft or an Uber ride from where I live to Akron because no one else can take me there because of the distance.
Here’s a question that I have yet to have anyone answer for me...are all bins items from a goodwill store first that did not sell or,do some things go directly to the bins. Thanks in advance. Melinda
It depends. Some have been in a store and some are the extras they decide not to sell or don't have time to go through. If they came from a store they usually have price tags on them.
Wow we don’t have anything as good as that jumble here in the UK , if I was there I would have picked up all those picture frames and fabrics, so cheap ! we have 2nd hand small charity shops ,local and nationwide charities that people donate too. Car boot sales in car parks and farmers fields, so one can haggle with the sellers.People put free stuff on their door steps or by their recycling bins and sometimes I find useful things chucked in skips ( skip diving) but most are filled with building rubble these days, there is an online site for free stuff like furniture to upcycle called Gumtree but you have to travel to collect it with a van, I only have a bicycle 😄🙏🏼🌈🌻🌞
The nearest bin location to me is a half hour away. I never really find anything good. It also put me off that I saw cockroaches crawling out of the bins. I never went back.
A tip I learned from the bins near me. Don't look in a bin someone else is looking through. Is that the way it is at all bins? I recently went to the bins for the first time. There was a couple who were grabbing pants. I had a pair of pants in my hand, he took them away from me said this was his bin and for me to move along. He had two buggies full of nothing but pants. I thought geeze really. Then a woman (not a worker) came up to me and said. One person per bin. Lots of people were just standing against the wall watching. Strange and weird.
I call the goodwill bins, pay by the pound, THE HUNGER GAMES !🤣 There's this group, maybe a family of resellers that literally conquer and divide. As soon as bins come out (they bring in new bins every 20 to 30 minutes or so) the bins get lined up..... and the cashier is YELLING at the ppl not to go into them. So everyone must wait behind lines taped on the floor. Eyeing each bin as they get rolled in.....& Then, the cashier yells "GO!" and watch out! You'll get TRAMPLED by these ppl (family) who will literally go to EACH bin, take most of what's inside & they will sort thru their stuff after they take it all. They usually have about 10 carts lined up, full to the brim with merch, by the wall..... It's ridiculous.....i just wait patiently and look thru the "older" bins that are not being attacked. Lol I mean.... it's genius that "they" are enough ppl to each get an entire bin to look thru...... get ALL the good stuff then discard what they don't want. There's so much glass and fragile things that get broken in this maddening process, it's sad. So yeah.....i call it the Hunger Games cause you're literally fighting for a chance to get anything. It's in St. Petersburg Florida btw.
People are always sorting through their carts and discarding items that they decided against. I am always circling around looking at people’s cast offs. One day I found Williams Sonoma Santa mugs as well as a vintage amberina teardrop hobnail pitcher. You never know what you’ll find!
Hey, first time watching your video, I’ve been curious about binning, your advice is very helpful! What I am curious about is, how do you know which goodwill / thrift store does the bins? Is there a particular time and day the bins come out? I have only seen a couple of Goodwills put out a bin or two but definitely not like what you’re doing. Is this more of a big city thing?
@Taylor Ryan I live in a smaller area and they usually put more of the bins out in the earlier hours. They usually stop putting them out in the afternoon here.
Are you in Austin? I’m just asking cuz it looks like the same set up as mine here in FT Worth. I get so sad cuz I want to have a bins like the ones that Portland has. So amazing. My kid always says the bins depresses him and is a way to shame poor people. lol. I’m like well I guess that’s me cuz I’ll get in there and dig. But man have you seen the ones in Portland? Dumpster Diva is there. I adore her.
Why buy junk frames just to maximize only $1.99? They will likely just sit in your death pile. To be clear, I’m just saying get what you need. If you only get a few things it’s worth it for only $2. No offense intended at all.
You are smart when you go to the Good Will bins, I do the same thing you do. Always look at the bottom of the bins , and always ware gloves and mask, and yes take some water with you, if you find something you want,, always look and see if you find something that matches it. congratulations.

Never been to an outlet store. Looks rather annoying & gross. Kinda upsetting how they're so lazy they just chunk everything into bins. Shit would prolly sell more if they took time to have it on shelves and semi-decent looking. Which would save more trash from landfills. Looks like stuff can easily get really messed up in the bins in which case who the hell would want it?
At the bins there could be things like black mold spores, pet dander and hair if you are allergic that an N95 mask will filter out. They don’t work for things that you are forced to wear them for.
The bins in my city are in a sketchy part of town so I have never been. Watching these videos gives me the heebie jeebies...hard pass. I don't need anything that bad, no matter how great a deal it is
To clean inside decanters, vases, things with small openings, I use denture cleaning tablets.
Yes, I was just about to comment on the cleaning.
I like to use diet coke and mentos when im in a pinch works just as good
I always pick up any bubble wrap and tissue paper to use for packing.
So do I. It's like getting freebies!
Same! And boxes for shipping 🙌🏻
I went to the bins for the first time last week and it was a mad house everyone run and tossing things it was kind of funny watch people going crazy over them. I found a few good things but I just waited till everyone was done tossing everything lol
That's exactly what I did my first time at the bins, which was in San Antonio. Craziness. Maybe one day I'll have the courage to do it like the pros 😅
My heart broke when you tossed the penguin picture back. I love penguins 🐧 ❤
I thought that was a cute picture too.
My first time watching your channel. Sabrina Griffin. I love thrifting with my parents, and they like doing it too with me.
I found a brand new fully stocked picnic basket…dishes, cutlery, etc
I hear you Texas Gal Treasures, the one thing I really dislike is being short, because when you are short, you can't reach the back of the bins. I found a signed and numbered large painting, sells for about $500. I kept that. I would look at any art they bring out.

Find things you can use for your business; I like finding scotch tape, Styrofoam wig holders to picture my hats, boxed staples for my stapler, etc.

I always grab birkenstocks unless a considerable portion of the cork is gone.
You have an awesome price on breakable and books! Wow!

White vinegar with water can sometimes clean it
For glassware with small openings I used broken up dentures tablets. Just break up a few tabs with some warm water. Let it soak for awhile then just rinse it out.
You are a genius! I will absolutely use that 🙌🏻
I live 20 minutes away from the Gary, Indiana Bins. I find a lot of good stuff!! My daughter and I go at least once a week
I have those same silver candlesticks!
Happy shopping😊😊😊😊😊
Same to you
Working myself up to trying the bins in my area. I keep thinking about it and your tips are great for venturing in. Thanks!
We’re those magic, the gathering cards that you shoved aside? Those are valuable, I have sold three sets of those within days, hours of listing them.
They look like "New Moon" cards from the Twilight/Vampire series
@@ShenandoahValleyTreasures Yes, they were Twilight cards.

You can use Efferdent denture cleaning tablets to clean most glassware.
Lucille Modzelewski, :) Thank you very much!! :)
Swish vinegar and water around in them also...
White vinegar and hot water.
Denture cleaner is good for the inside of a bottle.
Mid Century, retro, beaded and leather coin purses, unique planters.... I see these sell high.
I went to the one in South Austin yesterday :) didn’t find much, I was too late ⏰
Dig to the bottom of the bins!
I have only been to the bins twuce as it is 4 hours away. I am intriuged and horrified. I found a set of curtains that sold for 40. This time I got a box of vintage shiny brites ornaments!

That ribbon! I need it.
Vinegar will help clean the insides of decanters!!!
Where in Texas are you located? I'm in Fort Worth. I LOVE the bins! :)
I live in Godley. I LOVE the bins too! It takes care of my shopping fix, and I get the chance to save really neat items.
i never dug in bins again after seeing a dead rat in one it made me fill sic :(
🤣They don’t eat much! 😬
Do they charge extra for them?😂
I live in Ohio, and the closest Goodwill bins store is located almost an hour away from me in Akron, Ohio. I always have to take a Lyft or an Uber ride from where I live to Akron because no one else can take me there because of the distance.
Great ideals
I know a guy who found a rare $6000 stamp sheet in an old book from goodwill
HI, WHAT GOODWILL BINS STORE IS THIS? CITY AND STATE?
Silly question but how do you find the bins?
Kathy Middlebrook print $15.00 to $20.00

Our bins charges .69 a pound for glass. (Denver, Co)
Same in Portland, OR. We also have $2.19/pound under 25 lbs and $1.29/pound over 25 lbs
Love this video! Can't wait to hit the bins someday
I have 2 silver pitchers but not sure if they're worth anything. They're pretty and unique but a little tarnished.
Silver plate or sterling silver?

That dog was really cute. Maybe he could be put in a little dog house. I wouldn’t have bought either.
You are not allowed to wear a backpack at the Goodwill bins in Corpus Christi, Texas.
