    The fastest speed in the game should of been like slow motion or something indicating that he's so fast everything around him seems slow . This game would look amazing with the graphics we have today . Too bad it got cancelled .

      We actually tried a first pass at that and it did not work out so great. Because Flash was still running down the street while everything else was slow, players didn't really notice the slow motion because you just ran past everything that was slowed down and your brain didn't have time to register anything was different. That technique works much better when your character is in a static scene and can move around in the slowed down objects. Then the slow motion can sink in. It was definitely something we were going to try again though. A shift in color, slowing down sound, a camera shift...stuff like that would have helped out a lot.

      that sounds so cool maybe he would slow down to but everything else was like uber slow. so basically the whole game would be in slow motion but because the flash is already so fast it would appear to make everything else frozen and the flash just at a moderate speed.

      Like I mentioned above, the problem was as long as Flash was running along, people just don't notice that everything else is moving really slowly. Your brain just doesn't process it. Even if we could have figured out a way to make it work, people then would have been upset that Flash wasn't hauling ass everywhere. At the end of the day when making a game where speed is paramount, the character should probably look like he is hauling ass. You really want that sense of motion as a player.

      @@RoseMary-bc1wr I know they should make this a Green Lantern game and an Aquaman game and for that you can customize Aquaman and you can give his suit more armor you can change and upgrade his trident and give him the whole long hair and beard or just long hair without the beard or the other way around and for Green Lantern it should be an open world game and so should Aquaman just explore all of Atlantis and Space and you can customize Hal Jordan's suit too and get all kinds of cool bad ass constructs for the ring.

      Dude, you really don't know the Superman fanbase half as much as you think you do.
      Really, all we want is a game where Supes is at city busting levels and can punch and be punched through skyscrapers halfway or fully across town, made by people who can actually bother to use google and do their fucking research so that they know all about his rogues gallery beyond the shallow depths of pop culture and know who can go toe to toe, use red solar radiation and magic as de-buffs, use other kryptonite besides green kryptonite as de-buffs... in hi-def. A story better than the shit we had in the first Arkham game and some RPG elements would also be good as well, but really, from a gameplay perspective, what I just listed is all that's necessary.
      It really isn't that hard. Fuck, all we're asking is that we, in essence, get to play a flying, super-fast Godzilla who gets to stop crimes, put out fires, stop various natural phenomena from killing people, fight other super-fast Godzilla's on occasion, and fight mooks that could potentially de-buff us to the point where they could do damage either en-masse or individually.
      It really isn't that hard. Nothing like making a game true to Cosmic Marvel or DC or true to Dragon Ball Z or fuck, even the original Dragon Ball, yet people still make Dragon Ball related games.

      Unfortunately there are a lot of roadblocks. First and foremost is that you can't make a Flash game without getting the Flash license from DC which is not cheap. Then you would need plenty of cash left over to fund a decent sized team for almost 2 years while the game is being made which is not cheap either. Put both of those together and most games that go up on Kickstarter don't make any where near that kind of cash, and the few that do are usually big names in the industry. I've also seen plenty of big names not even get the money they needed. Which brings me to my last point and that is Bottlerocket hasn't existed for almost 9 years now and there is no team. And you can't just throw a bunch of people together and expect to get funded the amount of cash needed to make a game like this.
      If it wasn't a game based off a licensed character it would be much easier.

      +Mr. MuthaFuckinJ Our publisher ran into unexpected financial issues and had to shut down which left us without anyone paying us. We spent the next few months trying to see if we could get anyone else to pick up the publisher job but we could not close any deals before we ran out of money and had to shut down too.

      +misterbigmouth dude even though it was still in production it would have sold alot of copies. you need to get anew publisher because this game looks amazing and it would be a waste to just leave and forget it. so what if you cant get the original game back. this is 2016 man and with the tech we have you can make this an astonishing game that could be as succesful as the batman franchise and mich more so than that puff supermans franchise. dont give up, please man.

      Xenoblade Zion There hasn't been a DCEU (DC extended universe) tie in game. As well as the TV show isn't going to be getting any type of game out of it and that is because they only get around 3 million views an episode. Hardly something worthy of a game. Sadly no Flash game in the near future.

      Finally someone who appreciates it! So many comments say he isn't running fast enough. We know the Flash can run faster than that but there is only fast you can make a character go and still have players be able to control him. Fun always comes first and if players are constantly crashing into stuff because they can't respond fast enough then I'd rather he move a bit slower so you have a more enjoyable time. With that said, we were still looking into ways of making him move faster or at least appear to be moving faster without losing playing control.

    That's honestly a huge shame that the company went under mid development for this game. There aren't a whole lot of great superhero games, really Batman Arkham and the Spiderman games are the only series that comes to mind that has a really successful superhero game, and that's just because they managed to get Batman just right, while a lot of past superhero games didn't really capture the essence of the hero like they should've. A lot of superhero games tend to leave out an open world and just stick to a linear path like in the Deadpool game, but every superhero game should have an open world with their respective city. Linear paths don't fit the superhero mold that well at all. But this game, even for only having 6 months or so in development time, looks like it would've done as well as, if not better than, the Batman Arkham series. I hope someone decides to make a game for the Flash in the future and if they ever do, would be able to nail the speed mechanic on the head just like you guys did. Maybe Rocksteady will consider making all the superhero games, given their success with Batman Arkham. They don't need a while trilogy + origins for them all, maybe just a game or two per hero or one giant Justice League game. I feel like Rocksteady really could perfect any and all superhero video games, so long as they can get the right tone for each of them and not reuse the survival night formula like in all the Arkham games (because really, only Batman is THAT dedicated to crime fighting that he'd only rest AFTER taking everyone out in a single night).

    @Rashawn Raysor I'm always willing to share whatever info I can. To answer the new questions:
    1. The Speed Force was going to be tracked on a meter. The player would have built the meter through running and fighting. We had plans to have certain moves cost a certain percentage of that meter and the moves available would change depending on whether it was running combat or standing combat. So like bullet time would cost the least amount and could be used multiple times on a full meter and Infinite Mass Punch would have cost the most and would have only been available with a full meter. A lot of the other core moves Flash could do would have been part of his combos in combat. So you wouldn't have to tap into the Speed Force to do everything speed related, we just wanted it for the epic stuff. We had only just begun to implement it so changes would most likely have happened but that was the starting plan.
    2. As for Boss Fights they can get pretty detailed and some were planned to be running combat and others had standing combat and many were a mix of both. I'll try to break down a basic one like the Captain Cold fight. In that one, Captain Cold has just finished robbing a bank and was escaping in a vehicle. Flash would catch up to the vehicle and try to do enough damage to it to force it off the road. Captain Cold and his minions would be shooting out of the truck making freezing patches on the road that could cause Flash to slip and crash or making barricades he had to run around. So Flash had to find openings in the attacks where he could catch up to the truck and do damage to it. Once it was damaged enough it was going to crash and things would transition into a hand to hand fight. Cold would activate a bomb that was going to explode in a few minutes and Flash had to take him down before the timer ran out. Cold would have integrated a bit of Weather Wizard's tech into his own and was going to create a swirling ice shield around himself that Flash had to break through in order to defeat him. Flash could have used various attacks or even thrown minions into it to weaken the field. Once Flash had punched an opening in the shield he just had to time it right to dash in through the opening and then could fight Cold directly. It was a bit more complicated than all this,but that is the gist of it.

I was getting around to thinking up how a Justice League game could work in terms of individual characters as well as an online aspect, and I had the very same thought with the "The Speed Force was going to be tracked on a meter.     I'd like to see a flash game where you can activate that "Sherlock Holmes fighting prediction" thing from the Robert Downey Jr movie when approaching villains or crossing dangerous terrain in slow motion, then when you run to the end it'll show you everything in real time.

    after seeing the new spiderman game trailer i really thought of this, the flash with a sort of arkham knight would be sooo cool, i so extremely sad too ser that you ran out of finance for the game, i really do think this would be a big big game,especially with all thats going on with the cw show and how big it has gotten, anyways,i hope there is even a small chance this game might come out, id fully support it 🖒

      Unfortunately that doesn't work. We tried it and because you are moving so quickly through a level your brain does not pick up on the fact that stuff is moving slower because its off screen before you register it. The slow time for super speed really only works if you are moving around within a scene. Alternatively, if you slow Flash down so people can see the slow motion effect then you lose that perception of speed that your brain has come to expect from video games. So even if you understand he is supposed to be moving fast, it just doesn't give you that speed rush. We were doing our best to find a happy medium that still made Flash look fast while giving people a way to control him.

      That is true. We also could only go so fast for a video game for two main reasons.
      1. At the time we were still very early in development and were creating a game engine from scratch. As such, things were not optimized yet and we discovered that if Flash ran too fast he could actually out run the loading of the level assets. So you could arrive somewhere and then see the city sort of pop into existence bit by bit. That did not look good at all and when you have both a publisher and DC to make happy, you make sure things look good for them.
      2. We also discovered that you could only allow the character to move so fast before players just couldn't control him and would just crash all the time. And crashing all the time was not fun. Unlike most Sonic games, Flash was not going to be on rails which meant the slightest move on the controller could alter his path. So we opted to make running fun more than comic book accurate. Fun always comes first.

      +misterbigmouth for the past month I've been working on a project based of this in unity but with different characters, it features a speedster like the flash, but with different design. How my super speed works is similar to the gtav mod, in mine you slow down time then you can choose to go at four different speeds. The first is around 40mph then the next 200 keep in mind time has slowed down and you still move at a fast yet controllable speed. However this might make combat more boring, because the villains move like snails leaving less of a challenge.

      That's is not a comparison that could be made. We were only 6 months into production with over a year to go on making the game. I'm confident that if we could have finished the game we would have been able to stand toe to toe with that little blue hedgehog.

    @Rashawn Raysor You don't have your account set up so people can directly reply so hopefully you will see this. To answer your questions:
    1. The plan for villains was to cram in as many of the Rogues Gallery as possible. We had plans for over a dozen boss fights against guys like Captain Cold, The Top, Weather Wizard, Grodd, Tarpit, Mirror Master, Pied Piper, even Murmur was set to make an appearance. I honestly doubt we would have been able to get all the fights in there we had designed but we sure as hell were going to try.
    2. If DC were to give Rocksteady the chance to do a Flash game those guys could look at these videos too. I don't have anything else that hasn't been put up online.
    3. We were still fleshing out the story but the core of it revolved around Zoom teaming up with Grodd. Grodd created devices that Zoom planted all over the city so that when Flash tapped into the Speed Force anywhere near them, people in the vicinity would get sucked into the Speed Force Dimension. Eventually Flash would have to go to the Speed Force Dimension to get the people and Zoom would fight him there where he believed he was more powerful. Famed DC writer Marv Wolfman was actually working directly with us to shape the final plot.
    4. We had not completed a list of all the side missions but we wanted all sorts of little things that the player could do in between the core story beats where he would be fighting the Rogues. Things like rescuing people from a burning building and helping to put out the fire. Helping to assemble barricades to stop flooding. Gather a bunch of parts form all all over the city for STAR labs to help them build something. Lots of running around where time was constantly ticking down. We also had a whole side story where Cadmus had kidnapped Jay Garrick in order to try to create Super Speedsters of their own and Flash was going to be battling against those guys and eventually have a fight to free Jay.

      +Adrian Adame As much as I would love to run around Keystone/Central city (I assume it was Keystone considering Wally West was going to be the Flash in the game) all day and just experience the fastness of him running, you don't get the game because it never finished. But there is some flash mods for PC for different GTA games. But unfortunately I have not been able to get those, both, because of not having a PC that works GTA and the fact that I don't really want to spend money on that. I don't have many new games and I CONSTANTLY still play the old ones. I don't have a Xbox one. Or a PS4. So no new games for me. Oh and also, forgot my password with no way to get a new one. (Believe me I tried many different things with no luck.) So I can't play Xbox live, and the PS3 I have, has no good games with good solid online fun! (tried Black ops 3 (rented it) and the servers were so bad I took it back early.) So yeah. No new things for me. But this would be fun if I could change time and have this game come out. :( Fantasy sucks, because you eventually have to wake up and realize, it just isn't real! :(

      +Carlos Roberto Silva Junior The game was stopped because the publisher that was paying us to make the game ran into financial issues and had to shut down. That lefts us scrambling to find another publisher to help us out. But we couldn't close any deals before we ran out of money and had to shut down as well.

    @Dylan Saunders ...sigh....so very frustrated with RUclips not always allowing me to respond directly back to posts. So idiotic. Anyway...assuming you see this post the answer to your question is that I was apologizing for how rough the quality of the graphics looked. We were only 6 months into production on the game. I think most people believe that games look incredible from day one but that is as far from the truth as it could be. The large majority of games get everything in to about a 75% or so finished state through out the life of the project and then spend the last few months before release polishing everything up. So we still had a long way to go before any of our graphics would have been considered final.

      Invis Cheetah Yeah I know, but it was a change RUclips/Google made on the account side putting that option in there...something that never should have been done in the first place. If you are going to comment on a public forum there should be nothing stopping people from replying back to you. It adds a layer of protection for trolls that is completely unnecessary.

    Ok. So I Reader your comment about the slow mo thing and I came up with an idea. What if you use the right trigger of the controller to speed up the flash. The further you hold down the trigger the faster he goes with the peak being as fast as at the end of this video. So now how about using the left trigger to slow everything around him down ( speed up his perception). The further you press the left trigger down the slower everything around him becomes (but the flash stays normal). If you press the left trigger down completely he would be as fast as he is at the end of the video but while seeing everything at his speed. And if you press both triggers down as far as possible he would reach his maximum speed because everything around him is slowed down AND he runs as fast as he does at the end of the video ( even for his perception). This system would make it possible to vary between slow mo and normal depending on the situation and what is necessary.
    Just an idea. :)

    @Andrew Spryszak: I did not get the option to reply to your post (I hate that that happens on You Tube all the time now...sigh) so hopefully you see this. We did not have any voice actors yet, it was still too early in the project. We had been thinking about Ryan Reynolds for the voice because at the time it was the Wally West version of Flash and we thought he could be pretty fitting. That was all we had thought of though. As for Villains, we were going to try to cram in as many as possible. Pretty much his whole entire Rogues Gallery was slotted to appear in some form. I already had boss battles planned out for guys like Captain Cold, Captain Boomerang, The Top, Mirror Master, Weather Wizard, Trickster, Abra Kadabra, Tarpit, Grodd, Professor Zoom, and even Murmur. Odds are good not all of those boss fights would have been done but we were gong to do our best to make sure we got in as many as we could.

      if you ever get tapped to do this game please make the boss fights ope world. too much confinement in these type of game when it comes to boss fights. it should have a totally destructible environment where everything in it can be used as a weapon. btw this game looked like it had much potential nice job

      misterbigmouth I figure if this does have a chance at being a game sometime in the future a noteworthy thing to have would be a "Fast Perception". THere are a few mods in skyrim and one in GTA San Andreas and they allow you to run at the same speed but essentially everyone is in slow motion and you'd have enough time to react to your environment.

      Turtle Chef We tried that but it didn't really work. Flash was moving so fast that you ran past everything in a matter of seconds and your brain couldn't register that the world was frozen. And if you slowed Flash down to the point where you could notice, then it didn't really feel like he was running all that fast. We still had a lot of other tricks we were going to try and I'm sure a version of slowing time would have made it in there somehow.

      Quantum Break did not crack the code. They still have a normal human guy moving at normal human speed through a frozen scene. He is moving at a speed your brain can tell what is going on. Now speed that guy up like 10 times faster and move through that same scene...huge difference. Like I mentioned above, we could have slowed Flash down and used the time effect but then he doesn't really seem like he is moving at super human speed which is the whole point. Players want to see a Flash that is blazing through an environment, not a dude that looks like you or me moving through a frozen one. But again like I said, we still had a few tricks to try so I'm sure we could have gotten to some sort of compromise that would have made sense.
      And there is no Kickstarter. Not yet at least. It's not quite that easy. I'm pretty sure the licensing fee alone would be more than we could earn through Kickstarter. I'm trying to reach a contact I have over at WB/DC to find out what their plans are though. If I hear anything I'll be sure to post the news.

I was loving this game and was very sad to see us shut down and not be able to finish it. The song used in the video is called Half Pipe by Huma Huma. It's one of the free music tracks provided by You Tube. They actually have a pretty decent library of good music.

      I didn't find the footage, I created it. I was a designer at Bottlerocket working on the game. When the studio was forced to shut down I recorded as much of the game play as I could so I would have something to put into my portfolio. As for helping out there really isn't anything that can be done unless you know someone that works at WB/DC or have a super rich relative that is willing to spend a few million dollars to start up a studio :)

      Unfortunately it doesn't quite work that way. Even if I managed to track down someone from WB who would take a look at the footage again and they thought it was cool, there is still no team to work on the game. Bottlerocket shut down almost 9 years ago and everyone has scattered. And you can't just assemble another team that has no experience in putting out a game and expect DC to just hand you the license to Flash to make a game for them. That would be like assembling a bunch of film school graduates and asking Disney to let you do the next Star Wars movie. You have to have a proven track record.

    This looks like it could have been pretty good. I hope a Flash game gets made some day. I've been playing Saints Row 4 and I just see a lot of potential with how it could work and be fun. I haven't played it yet, but even some of the things I've seen in footage of the game Quantum Break, I think would work great in a Flash game. Hopefully it will happen one day.

    It sucks when this sort of thing happens. A Flash game could have been fun. I certainly loved running around as Flash in Lego Batman 2.
    There's a game called Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth that had lots of development issues, and even though it was eventually released, you can tell the game is unpolished and rushed, so I'm not sure which is worse.

    This speed mechanic is very good, especially for a game only in development for 7 months, but I feel like Infamous: First Lights did it better. No offense, if you're even reading this, but the whole "speed" thing seems like a gimmick in this game. All you need to do to nail speed mechanics on the head, is to take Fetch's speed and bump it up to around 13 times faster, and make Barry's(I'm assuming its Barry in the suit)speed have multiple levels. Possibly have him do the "Infinite Mass Punch" to the final boss(that would be so cool), and make The Flash's fighting style reminiscent, but still not a complete copy, of the Arkham games' combat. Barry could have a mode where he can slow down time that can be upgraded in the home menu, make his zip from enemy to enemy, and drop lots of easter eggs to the JL. In the story, Barry could also get stuck in the Speed Force, and finally break out, after what seems like days, has been years, with buildings falling. This would take on a some what of a Flash Point vibe, as Barry is racing through anarchy, speeding towards Professor Zoom, who has Iris in one hand. Thawne says, "You've finally failed, Flash." He holds up Iris, who is now shivering with fear, "You're not fast enough." Eobard then begins to thrush his vibrating hand into Iris, but its in slo-mo, to see what Barry sees. Barry's reaching out, picking up more and more speed, running towards Thawne, shouting, "No Thawne! Please, don't!" But Barry fails. He truly wasn't fast enough. Thawne drops Iris' limp body onto the ground , as Barry rushes to grab it. Eobard begins to chuckle, looking over a kneeling Barry, holding his dead wife's body. Lightning starts to flash in Barry's eyes, "You started this battle, and now, it ends." Thawne looks almost disturbed at Barry's flat tone, but quickly forms another grin. Flash looks up, and clenches his teeth. ---Most of this battle would be in slow-motion, with bits of normal speed mixed in to see the damage that each blow both of them is doing has on their surroundings.---- I'm not sure how the combat would go, but it would be very hard, with Professor Zoom blocking almost every blow you deal. This battle isn't fueled by saving a city anymore, it's about vengeance. Your blows become more dangerous, as you would be able to see by the cars being blown away every time you punch Thawne. You're running up buildings, across water, and into other parts of the world, using different techniques to try to stop Thawne, as he is with you. You finally fight to a stand still. Zoom is looking worn down, but still has a grin on his face, knowing he has truly won. He says, "You see know, Barry, this is what happens when you try to be a 'hero'." Barry lets Thawne taunt him for sometime, but unknown to Thawne, he's just trying to draw some final bits of speed out. Now, there are two ways that this ending could go, so I would like for people to choose if they are reading this:
    1. Barry travels back in time to save Iris from being killed.
    or
    2. Barry delivers a line, and runs around the world as fast as he can, creating an Infinite Mass Punch, and ending Professor Zoom.

      +Cool Cat I appreciate the feedback and a lot of stuff you suggested was stuff we were doing (you can see samples of some of it in the other videos I've posted) and I'll get to that in a second. I did want to first address your feedback on the speed mechanic just so we can set the record straight here. Does the Infamous stuff look really good? Of course it does. But it's an unfair comparison. We were a game only 6 months into development whereas that is a completely finished and polished game. We were running on a custom made engine that we were building from scratch and they are running on a second generation Infamous engine. We were running on a PS3 and they are running on PS4. So to say they did it better is like saying a Dutch master did a better painting than a kid in kindergarten. It's true but not really fair. If we would have had the chance to "grow up" a bit, it might have been a
      different story.
      As for the speed being a gimmick I'm not sure what you are talking about. Flash = Speed and his speed was an integral part of the game. The mission structure was going to be set up much like how the first Dead Rising threw stuff at you. The player was going to have multiple emergencies that he had to handle, all with time limits on them and you were were going to have to pick the most optimal routes to race around the city and try to succeed on all of them possibly even bouncing back and forth between a few of them. Let's see Spider Man try to do that :). This video was just a tour of Central City but if you actually watch the gameplay video you'll see more examples of speed being used as actual game mechanics including having multiple levels of speed (which you can see in this video too)
      As for your other stuff, Flash in this game was actually Wally because at the time Barry was still dead in the DCU. We were sort of going for the first time he put on the suit vibe and him dealing with now being the Flash and all the pressure that comes with adopting that identity. He would have fought Zoom as the ultimate main bad guy and the Speed Force dimension played into the final fight. He was going to have an Infinite Mass Punch move that he could use and he most definitely would have had to use it on Zoom to defeat him. His combat was not like Arkham though because that is how Batman fights. Our combat was built off the fighting style we created for Mark of Kri and it allowed Flash to dash back and forth between many enemies at once using quick blows and speed based moves like a speedster would fight.
      As for your storyline it's very interesting but it's very dark and we felt Flash should be a more lighthearted game. Let Batman have the the dark story lines and let some of the heroes just enjoy being heroes again.

I would have liked to see Flash use more of his environment(like Arkham Knight, but more available), but sadly this game was only in development for 6 months, so it would have probably been worked on later. Also, have you ever considered a crowd-funding campaign? If not, I highly suggest you try it. Just look a Nightwing: The Series on Ismahawk's channel.

      +Cool Cat There were definitely pans to use more of the environment in some of the fights. Like we had talked about there being a spool of construction cable that Flash could use to quickly tie someone up with. Flash was supposed to be able to charge at certain objects in the environment and either use them to bounce off of or to vault over. We had a fight against Tar Pit in a construction site and Flash would have had to ram into things in order to move them and set up a whole mouse trap sort of thing to stop him. Things like that.
      And yes I have considered the whole crowd funding thing but the biggest obstacle we would run into is getting enough money to pay for the license as well as the game. A Flash license these days is not going to be cheap and having to earn enough money for that as well as start up money to get things going would be pretty hard. I've tracked a lot of games on Kickstarter and very few of them even get enough money to just start on the game and those are by pretty big names. You can try to make a Flash game without getting the license and hoping that DC would pick it up and publish it, but that is incredibly foolish. I'm sure these days DC has some plans in there for a Flash game and the best bet it is to get on their good side. I'm not saying never though. My former boss was looking to start a new company and we do still have a contact over at DC and I'm hoping someday the two of them will actually get a chance to talk.

    I love how there's 3 speed modes (at least shown here, maybe even more) because 1 would be way too slow, and even the 2nd while cool seemed like it could do better so I was very pleasantly surprised to see the 3rd.

      Ceb Bec We had the different speed modes in there so the players could essentially down shift when running through crowded areas or when they needed to do a lot of complex navigation and then they could open it back up again for the wide open stretches. Our number one goal was to make the running fun. As much as people always say that Flash needs to run faster, we had him running really fast at first and people just crashed all the time because they could not respond fast enough to the turns and what not. And crashing over and over was not fun. So we were trying to find that balance between control and speed. We still had a lot of tricks to try so what we had in at this point was not the final solution but it was feeling pretty good when you played it.

      I would love to revive the game but even if we still had all the code and the art we had at that point it was still a long way off from being done. We still had more than a year to go development when the studio shut down. Combat was just getting in there. We just had started getting traffic and pedestrians moving around. There were no missions built, no boss fights implemented, very few speed force abilities. So much we wanted to pack into the game.
      As for slowmo it doesn't work right when running. We tried it and the player was moving by stuff so quickly that players could not tell that the world around them had slowed down. We could have slowed Flash down too and made it feel similar to what they do in some racing games but then you lose the fact that he is running really fast through the streets. Slow motion really only works when you are in a static environment and your brain can process what is happening. We would have had a bullet time feature for Combat so you would have gotten it there.

      Aspired Gods Yes yes and yes. Batman unfairly dominates games as he does movies lol. Thankfully with the success of Arrow and Flash shows, hopefully we can see some different characters break through. Arkham game engine can easily be modified into an Arrow game. Wonder Woman has all the makings to be a cool God of War hack and slash game. And where is the love for superman!? We have the technology for a kick ass game franchise.

I would love to find a way to get this game made but I'm not sure it will ever happen. Bottlerocket shut down over a decade ago and everyone has spread to the winds at this point.     misterbigmouth Hey there, I've seen multiple comments from you that deeply intrigue me. I have a number of questions for you and I'm not sure if it should be in private or not. I'm indeed a fan of the Scarlet Speedster, but even more so when it comes to the Man of Steel. You said you've seen some of the early stuff from the cancelled "Blue Steel" project and I'm curious as to whether or not you could elaborate on that. Also, you say you have a contact at WB Interactive and I'm wondering if you could ask them if there are any Superman based plans in place. I've made a piece dedicated to the idea of a game surrounding the icon and have recieved positive feedback. I was even suggested to start tweeting the article (currently a rough draft and still a lot of work to be done) to people like Geoff Johns, who work with the gaming industry. I am sorry about what occurred with Brash. It's a shame to see such an impressive concept go to waste, especially one that seems to have had the right people making it.       ***** Batman had potential for a good game since before the arkham series but none were bright enough to deliver, any kind of Flash game would be quite underwhelming as a game overall.
      Story mission: run here, punch a guy, run there, punch a guy. So on so forth.

      +HenryDoesFilms bruh Sonic had several more TV shows more game appearances and is even getting an entire motion picture then flash..flash's biggest medium of media is "comics & that show that ripped off the base concept of smallville, I'll even give em young justice..even though it was cancelled (just like this game) but neither here nor there because I was just talking about the mechanics of the game itself it would have been "running, jumping & getting power ups platform style"..hmm who originated that🤔 sonic bro...the game itself bares a huge resemblance to a semi mature version of "sonic adventures"

      I know this was posted 3 months prior, but I believe that they intentionally limited his speed because they were trying to emulate Wally West at the beginning of his career as Flash (not Kid Flash). The first 40 issues or so of Flash Volume 2 (where Wally took over as Flash) largely dealt with Wally attempting to overcome his serious speed limitations (he could barely run faster than the speed of sound, I believe). He got a major speed boost in #24, when recovering from the loss of his powers by replicating the explosion that granted him his speed in the first place, but then he had to deal with psychological issues relating to his predecessor/mentor's death that were preventing him from reaching his maximum speed.
      Overall, I am confident that the developers knew their stuff when this game was in development.

      We tried that and it just didn't feel right. If you just slowed down the world and not the Flash you went past things too fast to even notice they were slowed down. If you slowed down the Flash so you could see all those thing, mentally you understood you were looking at someone using super speed but you lost the adrenaline rush of actually moving at a fast speed. We opted to go for the adrenaline rush since at its core Flash was a racing game.

    my only problem with DC is they focus on too much batman games besides injustice.. A game about the flash would be good could make him fast or everything slow but add challenges to the game like a time limit to save civilians or racing but obstacles in the way when fighting a boss like the reverse flashes just my opinon

    6 years later I'm still a bit obsessed with this game. I wonder if there cane be some kind for fan flash game on PS4's Dreams. I've already seen some pretty insane looking fan games already. Someone needs to to a Flash tribute game on Dreams.

    That was awesome! I'm bummed out that it got canceled. An open-world Flash video game like that video would've been good. Reminds me of that canceled Avengers video game that I thought it would've been good as well.

    In this ability you can make this scene go so fast that it will appear as if you haven't even moved unless you placed the flash in a different location than where he was before the fight scene, in which case you would only see whatever objects you hit move and the flash would be in a different location or in the exact same place.

      I appreciate that. The game was only about 4 months into real production and we still had a year and a half on the schedule to go so most of it is really rough. But everyone loved what we had done so far and it was really starting to come together. It is doubtful that this exact game will ever come out as we (Bottlerocket) haven't existed since 2008. But I'm willing to bet that DC will eventually release a Flash game especially if the movie turns out to be any good.

    @xPro HD: We were working on a system of different collisions for vehicles that Flash could run into. For smaller vehicles we were considering just letting the player run up and over them. For mid sized cars they would have soft collision on them that would sort of help shove Flash around them. Then for bigger vehicles like buses or semis, the player could have used his slide move to slide right under them and keep running.
    As for a saved filed there is no such thing. The game was never developed to a point where it we had a stand alone demo. It was only running on our PC's hooked up to our servers where all the assets were stored.

    the footage literally made my jaw drop!!! This feels like the exact flash game we would've loved and wanted, shame that it wasn't finished cause I definitely would've put my money down for this and still would, which brings me to the next question. Whats stopping the production now for a flash game? Aren't the positive responses and the great early stages of the game not enough to start again on the current gen systems?

      +Javier Grant I'm glad you liked the footage. We were definitely trying to give people a Flash game they would have loved. The core group of us developing the design of the game were huge comic book fans and we were doing our best to keep the game as faithful to the comics as we cold.
      As for restarting production....It's not that easy. WB/DC obviously owns the rights to the character so you can't just start working on a game without A) getting permission and B) purchasing the rights. And the rights are not cheap especially with the show being a big hit for them. That is the biggest reason we haven't gotten anywhere with trying to revive it. Even the top tier Kickstarter games made by companies people really now tend to barely make more than 4 million. After paying for the rights we would still need money to pay people to make the game and unless we could make bank like that, we wouldn't have the cash to do it. We might not even earn enough to buy the rights. We also need to toss in the fact that WB/DC is doing pretty good with Flash right now with the TV show and the movie in the works. So I'm pretty sure they have some plans of their own for the character. And lastly, we stopped working on the game over 7 years ago and all the key people have moved onto different jobs. So a whole new team would have to be assembled to do it and that creates a whole other set of issues. I'm not saying it;s impossible there are just a lot of odds stacked against us.

    It's AMAZING how you'll were able to make the graphics frame rate keep up with his speed. And I like the way you had the newspapers get caught in his stream as he stopped near the end. Also the music was very appropriate.
    *Suggestion:* I believe there is room for one more higher level of speed, and the way to pull it off is to make him have tunnel vision, where the only thing he sees clearly is the road, and everything else is literally a blur. This way you don't have to concern yourself, so much, with making sure the environment loads up in time. This would mean that everything else like car, people.... EVERYTHING stops moving, and make it so he can run over cars by default/automatically.

      Thanks for the positive words and great ideas. There are two issues with that suggestion though:
      1: At some point you go too fast to actually control Flash. People just didn't have the reflexes to turn him quickly enough even when we started testing out an instant 90 degree turn. The amount of time it took people to process "oh crap there is a wall I need to turn" to actually doing it was long enough that people crashed like crazy. That was not fun. So we needed to balance out Speed with Fun. We still would have tried other things to get that illusion of speed up more but Fun came first.
      2. You still have issues with loading times because even if stuff blurs out we were giving players the ability to stop dead at any time which is what made us different from a Sonic game (and what stops us from going even faster). If the player stops, the environment still has to be there...can't have it trying to load in and play catch up. Again the game was really early and stuff was no where near optimized so hopefully loading would not have been an issue but it was something we were seriously watching and finding ways to work around it.

      Oh ok, that makes sense. And I suppose allowing the character to automatically run up the walls at that level of speed would still pose a problem? Or could that be implemented?
      I envisioned that super high level of speed being an unlockable after the player beat the game and went back in to the open world for some extra fun and challenges. Nevertheless, you'll definitely were on the right track- uh, no pun intended. :)

      Ethromel We already had Flash running up buildings automatically so that wasn't an issue and we were already implementing what you suggested with allowing him to run up and over certain cars. The problem isn't with going straight, it's with turning. Most cities don't have long winding curves for their roads. They have 90 degree intersections. Which is why were getting in instant 90 degree turns for the character. The issue just came down to human reaction time. As much as I wish we all had Flash's reaction time, we just don't. Sure through training players would get more used to it, but you still want to make sure that when a player picks up the controller the first time and runs really fast they have a fun time doing it which won't happen if they run a few seconds and then crash. I'm not saying there was no way to solve it, we were definitely exploring a lot of options. At the time, that was the issues we were facing and we were trying to work around them.

      The problem isn't turning per se, it's having the reaction time to turn at the right time. Going into slo mo on the turn doesn't do the player any good if he didn't turn in the first place.

    Despite the game being a little bare (due to it being at early development), you can see the developers had genuine love for the character.

      Yes we did. The core people responsible for crafting the majority of the game were huge Flash fans (huge comics fans in general). It was my goal to make sure we got as much of the comic book character into the game including as many of the classics powers that we could as well as a huge selection of his Rogues Gallery. I wanted to make sure players felt like they were playing the comic book character and not just someone named Flash.

    I'd love to see a Flash game released soon! So many wild things could be done with it. You could easily creat a new combat mechanic or utilise what's known to great effect. That's what's so great about The Flash, he's so unexplored video-game-wise, there's endless possibilities.

    That rock music though. It's so awesome! It fits the game play very well. Although, if this game was made today, they'll just use the same old cliche heroic cinema music from the movies. I mean they're cool & all, but games with the most unique music becomes the most memorable to me. Especially since we don't have much games with rock songs nowadays.

      I hate to break it to you, but the music for the video wasn't actually music from the game. The music used in the video was just some free stuff I found on RUclips that I thought was pretty fitting. We hadn't gotten to the point where we had any music for the game yet when we were forced to shut down.
