Great how to video. I wish someone can make an aftermarket headlight assembly where the LED bulb will be replaceable with any aftermarket LED bulbs instead of purchasing the whole assembly. These are kinda expensive come time one has to replace it. Thanks for sharing, have a wonderful day.
I just wanted to see what led kit they used for this car, I like the way they look on the road. Way too complicated not just a bulb. Great detailed video. Ty.
Yeah. People need to avoid buying cars with no replaceable headlights because no one is going to pay $1000 for a new headlight assembly, people is going to drive with 1 light working, or none, which is dangerous.
Damn thanks so much been looking for a video how to change the bulb no one ever metion on any other video that u couldn't replace it all show how to change the basic easy ones I guess I need a new headlight after spending 40 on bulbs
This is what I was going thru. Took my car to auto parts for the bulb, the guys there also couldn’t figure out how to change it until I brought it to my local shop and they told me I had to buy a whole new headlight. Toyota kind of sucks for this
If you heat gun the edges of the lens assembly to break the glue you can snap the lens free of the melted tabs on the bezel without having to saw / dremel / whatever the light apart. I did that to a pair of OEM lights to harvest the ballast and OEM projector set in case my aftermarket headlights decide to fail. Overall - the way the stock headlight is built kind of sucks versus most other headlights. Thanks for making a breakdown video !
Soo if either my bulb or ballast goes bad I would have to change the whole assembly correct ? & I also been searching for after market headlight assemblies for my 2015 Corolla would they fit and work ?
Yes, if LED or ballast fails, your main option is to buy a whole headlight. The risk of replacing with aftermarket is that the LED is not the same brightness or color and shows a difference when looking at them.
@@gftgrill thanks for the reply! Also, my mechanic said something about my light being an HID light would replacing it with an LED be a problem or would the light most likely be LeD from factory
I don't think that HID was an option. All US Corolla in 2015 came equipped only with LED. Your options are to buy a replacement headlight or find a donor light and swap the internals.
I wonder if the front plexiglass can be replaced separately, because Toyota only sells the whole lamp assembly. And the double LED version is 1k dollars.
I have a 2015 corolla and at 3 years the left headlight failed. This video helped me replace the ballast and not buy a whole new lamp. Thank you very much.
You certainly could cut that section of the housing off to get access to the projector. It's not "sealed" as it's molded that way and there is no glue. So you would have to cut it open and reseal the housing afterwards. That still will not get you access to the LED control unit on the bottom of the light with the front facing screws.
I need ome help I'm trying to adjust my 14 corolla headligth but the screw just spin but is not adjusting anything, and the ligth inside feels loose, what I can do? Thanks
it sounds like 1 of 2 things is wrong 1. the screw came out of the hole internally in the light. You might be able to get it back inside by removing the light pointing it straight up at the sky so that all of the projector weight is pushing down onto that screw. then try to turn the screw and see if it will catch. 2. the inside of the headlight is broken and the screw is no longer connected to the main projector bracket. This means you either need to open the headlight and try to repair it or purchase a new headlight.
It appears that there are 3rd party replacements using the same part number. I have no experience with them and generally do not prefer aftermarket replacement electronics.
You'll either need to get a hook tool into the light to put pressure on the inside to pull it back while you screw it in. Or you might be able to turn the light upside down and use gravity to put pressure on the screw.
You can't replace the low beam. They will replace the whole headlight. MSRP for the headlight is around $525 and they'll probably charge you 1-2 hours of labor to replace it. You'll have to call your dealer and ask them. Price and labor rates will vary by dealer and by region.
@@gftgrill That bs, from the time i saw that the LED's can't be removed, i knew this was their plan, to replace the entire assembly only because a bulb burnt out and you can't replace it, this is ridiculous.
Most of the LED chips are supplied by Osram. I don’t know if they sell the chips to consumers though. I think it’s only to vendors, then the vendors will have to design the assembly and ballast.
Why is Toyota selling a headlight bulb for a sealed headlight? I bought the low beam 9006 because when I bought my car it was a blue light and I wanted to change it to normal lights. Now I learn that to change that I have to buy a whole headlight? What the hell? And the 9006 is listed as a replacement bulb for my year make and model. That's wrong.
@@gftgrill yea whatever, the low beam is sealed but you are still able to buy the bulb from autozone or amazon lol. It's unreasonable from toyota to do that. Just to change a light bulb that's blue is over $100 if I do it myself. How rude!
To sell headlights assemblies, ridiculous. Wait 10 / 15 years when all these cars have no lights to use in the dark because no way in hell people is going to pay $600 / $1000 for a single headlight assembly.

I have never found a place to buy just the lens. you would have to buy a donor light, pull the lens off of each and then do the swap.

How Increase the light of the spotlights to corolla 2017 LE?
Very usefull video. Have you ever heard of a burned out LED headlight?
Yes, LEDs don't last forever and some do fail prematurely. The ballasts tend to fail more often than the LEDs themselves.
Not on the original Toyota. He's in most aftermarket

Eventually i opened housing (combination of heatforce and solvent and factory glue get loose) and resealed it with buthyl seal :)
