Here is my original review of this steamer: • Rowenta DR8050 X-Cel S...
My Rowenta DR8050 X-Cel Steam Steamer refused to put out steam. It got hot and had plenty of water. It acted like there was a plugged line or a pump issue. It ended up being the pump needing an adjustment. Works great again.

I hope Rowenta looks here. I have the same issue. I used this just once about 2 years ago. got it out today no steam, checked correct water level and the little plastic bit on the tank like they say to make sure in place and no luck. I can hear the pump and its incredibly quiet. i don't have a tamper proof screw driver. your video is great. i think my solution is to buy another brand or take down the curtains and use a good old fashioned iron.

Sheila Hallam Thank you for your input. I tried calling them but because of the virus the call center is closed. I used the online format to ask the following:
What is going on with the Rowenta DR8050 X-Cel Steam Steamer as I show in this RUclips video: ruclips.net/video/CShRX8tAghs/видео.html Others are having the same issues. Why? What is going on? Is this a common problem? I tried calling yesterday but a message says because of the virus the call center is closed. Please let me know why I and others have to do this to get the unit to work.
I received a confirmation email as follows: Thank you for contacting us. We will reply to you within one to two business days.
Unfortunately, due to the logistical imperatives caused by the Covid-19 crisis, a disruption in our services could lengthen the usual processing times for inquiries.
      Counting on your understanding.

I bought my Rowenta steamer (different model) about 4 years ago, and it never steamed. Ever. After I watched this video I just shoved a paperclip into the tube of the water tank, and its connecting tube,. Still nothing until I removed the brush attachment and then, voila,, a huge amount of steam! I have to say I never heard the pump working at all until the brush was removed. Thanks for motivating me to try.

I'm another Tefal DR8085 owner with this issue. Thanks to this video, I was able to loosen that nut and get the stranger working again. I didn't even have to remove the pump.
I marked the original position before I started loosening. It needed a full 1/3 of a turn (120°) before there was sufficient pressure to make stream again.
Thank you so much for publishing this video!

Thank you so much for the video. I attempted to take mine apart but did not have the right screw drivers. So I decided to try one last time to get it to work. As it warmed up, I remembered what you said about the pump and you had adjust it to get it to really start pumping. So, a banged it against the counter several times and it must have adjusted the pump, because it started working perfectly. I believe it was a little miracle. I don’t know how long it will last, but if it breaks again, I will get some of the screwdrivers needed and try again.

Just fixed mine. Pulled out the pump and situated it so it'd run. Put the tank in and ran it. Turned that nut on the pump until it got louder. It was really really faint before. No water at first. 😢 however, the tube leading in was stiff. This was showed the pump was working. I massaged the lines a little. Then a big drop of white water came out. This was followed by a little more. Then it ran clear and was dropping in rythym. Hooked it all back up. She's steaming again. Thanks for the suggestion on the nut. I was scratching my head. Your awesome.

I had the same problem. It NEVER worked out of the box but it was at our "winter" house and I didn't have time to take it back. Hadn't been used at all. Brand new. I took it apart and found that the pump was clogged. I used a small hand pump (like for an exercise ball/pool toy) to force air through. I used a little vinegar to descale the unit and then ran water back through it. Works like a charm. Wonder how long it will be before it goes out again. Completely unacceptable. I'm going to register a complaint. I'm glad it's working but there is clearly an issue with this model and they should stand behind their product!!!

Dude… I didn’t think anyone would have made a video on this, not yet one that fixes the problem! Hats off to you! I took mine apart then thought, I don’t see anything wrong here… then I looked up your video and I marked the pump then unscrewed it. I did a simple cleaning then plugged it in like you said to test the pump and it sucked water!
I put the pump in, then tried it with the reservoir and it worked! So I put the whole thing back together!

Sometimes when you put the pump away is need to fill the silcone wire with vinegar and wather in ration 1:1. It helps to clean the wire from pump into the heater in the head of the streamer.

Since I don't have a security screwdriver, I banged it on the counter like someone else suggested. Who knew abusing it would be the solution. If it happens again, I'll bring it to my son when I visit so he can take it apart. But for now, it's back in use. Thanks for being more helpful than Rowenta.
