0:20 Listen to the guitar. It has that distinct, jangly Beatles acoustic sound. I don't know how they captured that, maybe it's just something you get with a J-160e model guitar, but I'm loving it.
Haha thanks, I don't know what Ably House is either. But, I'll tell you what I know. It's a house from where I grew up, it had local lore about it and we always knew of it. We went out to see ghosts one night and came back with a band name. For the channel, its an attempt at throwing all my musical interests into one medium. Because of what people click on and my own interests, its mostly Beatles. But, if I ever covered AC/DC, Stones, CCR or Video Game Music, it wouldn't make sense to be posted on a Beatles specific channel. Missed you too

I thought so too, but I think I read somewhere the Cadd9 is only on the piano. And it seems thats what I went with. Any time we play this live, we would play the Cadd9
@@niallchurch2679 I did ask Andrew about Neil in their previous Octopus's Garden video, and he said that Neil was busy gigging and away from home too much so that he decided to take it easy and is not interested in making videos right now.
@@niallchurch2679 Yes, we had many videos we never got around too. This is one Brendan redid along with all of Beatles for Sale (he did this when we did Eight Days a Week and Rock and Roll Music) I'm going through all my old files and finishing everything off. If I have bass or drums, that's a great start then! I'm hoping by the time I finish going through everything, Neil or Brendan will be ready to do some more videos. I'll lose track of files if I wait any longer to post what's already started
I still have a bunch of videos from mostly Brendan and some of Neil. It will probably take me the year to finish off all of them, so they'll be popping in and out. I can think of at least 3 videos with Neil and maybe 12 with Brendan. Brendan did all of Beatles for Sale. My first goal is to finish those, hence No Reply is first!
John is for sure playing a simple C. I hear the high C on the B string and its not going away, it's very clear to me. However, it wouldn't surprise me if George played a C with a D on the 2nd string. That's probably correct actually. Then, when piano was overdubbed the 9 was again added
Great video! Are you assuming these parts were recorded separately? Otherwise what guitar would the second acoustic have been? John’s J-160E was stolen in December 1963
That's a great point. I thought the George part sounded like a J160 and this sounds more accurate than our previous cover. It could be the Tennessean, which I don't have and when I borrowed it, I didn't think to do this one. I think the parts were definitely done together live and there is no overdubbing. And I do hear George's part sounding both electric and acoustic at times. If anything, I would suspect John might be using another acoustic if they didn't have two J160s available. What do you think?
@@AblyHouse I've still got a slight suspicion that it's the Tennessean but I've never tried to replicate it, so maybe I'll experiment with it at some point. I'd assume it was recorded together as well. There are always these weird exceptions that pop up in Beatles lore though, there could be some mystery acoustic for all we know. Additionally the electric on this would have been played through an AC100, which somewhat muddies our ability to make it sound right on any instrument.
John had got himself a new 1964 J160E in August 1964 from Manny's Music when the band played Forest Hills Stadium to replace the stolen one. So, yes, the Ably boys are probably correct that John and George both used their J160Es on this track.
The green one is the Robelli, I am going to start using it for videos I don't have bass for. The video of Neil is the same as our cover from 2017, everything else is updated

@@AblyHousewhen you reuse videos from the older versions, it doesn't look reused (at first) for some reason (maybe due to the color regrading).

One word to say that I will never unhear is "Your face". Don't believe me? Watch the Beatles bloopers at the part where they do no reply and they sing your face at the wrong parts.
ManWithNoExpression pointed out that they only had one J160 at the time of this recording. We both think it's probably the Tennessean. However, George's part at times sounds very much like an acoustic. So I would almost prefer to have George on J160 electrified and John's part on some other single steel stringed acoustic

Absolutely amazing!!!!!!!!
One of my favourite early Beatles songs (up there with This Boy and If I Fell!). Great job!
Nicely done guys!
So glad to see videos being uploaded again! Keep up the amazing work everyone!
