Jessica Barden and Emma Canning were fantastic young versions of Valya and Tula! Jessica has so much internal rage which she seethes and channels as Valya! She really brings out that full on Type A personality who is ruthless, ambitious and power motivated! And Emma as Tula though kinder and more empathic, gets her full on spy moment, killing off nearly all the Artreides including her own lover. Though it caused her so much emotional pain, she is so mentally objective and clear in her mind on why she had to do it, to get back at them for murdering her older brother. Fantastic stuff and can't wait to see the rest of the eps!
Couldn’t agree more. These actresses are doing such a spectacular job. And it’s nice to see a show not treat me like I have a TikTok attention span. I’m still reeling from how insultingly baby-brained the Rings of Power show imagined all its viewers were.
Milo Callaghan as Orry Atreides stood out for me, he portrays that silent strength and empathy that The Atreides are known for (for better or worse) very well. You can definitely see him being the ancestor to Leto I and Paul.
Valya is basically like Oswald Cobblepot. A hypocrite who makes excuses to get what she wants. I won’t be suprised if Valya gets Tula killed in the end.
It will probably be the reverse, Tula is who will rebuild the Sisterhood. Until her revenge plot, the inferences were that she was the weaker of the two. She might be tired of being bossed around by Valya.
That kid wasn't atreides only Orrry was because that can't be Kirans father when's he's like 25 years younger than tula and born when she was the age in the episode. Orry prolly got a sister or brother atreides
@@KeldarMJ how is he the father if he's the father that means he had krian at that age wtf. Because krisn is in his 30s on the show. And 30 years after the massacre
That was a nice setting, while Valya seems the strongest, it is Tula that actually change things. She initiate a forked prophecy. Who is the twice dead ?
God this show is so good. It’s everything I needed. I feel like there’s a trend in media to wring hands over even slightly morally gray characters. And here we have some proper political drama with complex characters. Gorgeous. And Emma Canning killed it (and everyone else) this episode. 👏👏👏
I never read the books 📚. But I'm loving this Dune universe we are getting But only 6 episodes I hope alot of people watch so we can get a few more seasons. Travis Fimmel to me was the best actor on vikings when I heard he was in this I was like yes I'm in. So I hope we get a s2 and I hope they don't kill of Desmond after 6 episodes
This episode isn't as bad as others are making it out to be. I actually prefer this one over the first two and I think it should've been the pilot because I finally see who Valya and Tula are as characters and what their motivations are. Also, I now see that Lila is our focal point in the story and not Princess Ynez
young val screaming looks like old tula actor. intentional? lol anyways. a bit rushed on the og story bruh. music not as on point as counterpart, which had 15 episodes before the full bgs ep dropped
It’s set 10,000 years before the events of the first Dune book. So I think it would be weird to portray them as equally technologically advanced. Especially since they only just did the Butlerian Jihad.
The pacing of this series is infuriating. Most episodes are INCREDIBLY slow, just to have some "revelation" take place in the last 30 seconds. I'm sorry but 30 seconds of "wow" will not make up for 60 minutes of poorly written dialogue.
Honestly I prefer seeing desmond hart and the imperium the bene gessereit characters are just kinda meh wish they did not a do a whole episode on it but oh well.
Young Valya Harkonnen is too ANNOYING. Ugh. I'm sure it's the actress, not the character, because older Valya is also annoying in her ways, but I don't hate her nearly as much. I LOATHE the younger version.
@@remi_gio You do realise Dune is the GoT before GoT. Everything in the Duneverse surrounding the political machinations, House system and scheming was all done before GoT became a pop culture phenomenon. So yes it will seem like it recycling to average viewers when it actually is the Godfather of the genre.
@Alejojojo6 It's just bad - dialogues, plot, settings, characters...at least to me it doesn't feel like it was written by an educated (knowledge in modern technology and politics, etc.) adult person. But I'm happy for everyone who likes it. No need for ad hominem. RUclips is not for writing lengthy explanations. You can drop by and leave a short comment/opinion is all.

This show is giving more real Dune vibes than the movies. Good job everyone.

She initiate a forked prophecy.
Who is the twice dead ?
Maybe Lilia
Twice dead must be Desmond Hart
Both is possible, lilia or Desmond.
Thus a forked prophecy.
Hopefully, we will see the unveiling in later episode, or better, in later season.

You can see why valya ended up the way she did " truth is a tool indeed.
Anyone else think that the new Harkonnen nephew is actually Tula's son with Atredies?
Yep
Which means that all the harkonnens that we see on dune movies were partially Atredies..😂

im going to be very disappointed if we never see a proper weirding way fighting style in these modern adaptions
The last episode has battle, no worries.
Seems like all the Dune stuff has so much potential but no one is able to do anything particularly good with it.
Would have been a 10/10 episode if Tula said "The North Remembers" after killing the atreides camp.

it is a bit too medieval. Even the Fremen have some high technology. You saw no technology on the Harkonnen homeworld at all.

Why are people so obsessed with fast-paced everything?? this was essential character building to understand their motivations as adults
Why not ? It builds up characters and now we know their motivations. Would you prefer a rushed empty storyline ?
