Growing up in the 70's, I listened to a lot of AM Top 40 radio and So Very Hard to Go was one of my favorite songs. The music and vocals were fantastic! It reminded me of how great the songs were back then. Thank you, Enoma, for your wonderful reaction!
Tower Of Power hails from my town of Oakland California.
Haven't heard "So very hard to go" in years...Thanks so much. They should have made it even bigger than they did.
Love Tower of Power!✊ One of my favourite groups! "You're still a Young Man"! Back in the day, them and WAR (another great group), they always toured together, to enthusiastic crowds!👍😎
Try "What is hip?" and "You're still a young man" both by Tower of Power.
Love the channel.
The song Magic Carpet Ride was released in 1969 at that time John Kay the lead singer of Steppenwolf was only 25 years old. He was born in Germany and he and his Mother escaped from East Germany right after World War II and eventually migrated to Canada. His father was killed in the war.
Takes me back to hanging in Eastside San Jose 1973 dancing with the girls and playing ball... magical...
A great band originated in san fransisco had a 5 piece horn section which would go on to tour and support other bands when possible. I have been a tower of power fan since i was in my teens this great horn section motivated me to learn to play saxophone i went on to play alto tenor and baritone saxophones in local bands. One of the all time great soul bands with one of the best horn sections of all time
Tower of Power was a 1970's band. My Youth . The band wasn't for everyone, It was more of a cultural thing back then. They had some good songs. Try; All Day Music by them. That is music to take a long drive to. Your Still A Young Man is another good one. Grateful for the journey back to my teenage years. Those were fun. I'm old now, can't remember the other ones. Lol. Did see them in concert a couple of times.
@@MrVato53 It probably was, those 2 groups always confused me. They were similar. Thanks for setting it straight.
Thanks Enoma for your honest reactions.
Classic soul jam from 1973. Remember it well. I took it for granted at the time; but it's amazing how much great music came out of the 1960s and 70s.
70s soul was the best
Amen. Today’s music can not compare!!!!
And so was/is Funk... which is the genre most associated with ToP !!
So I Got To Groove,Come On With It,You’re So Wonderful, just a few of the great tunes from Tower Of Power.

From Oakland, California...One of the great bands of the 1970's. This song is from 1973...That is Lenny Williams on vocals here...
Try the tune, The Pusher by Steppenwolf. It was written by Hoyt Axton, who also wrote Joy To The World which was made famous by Three Dog Night.
That is the great Lenny Williams on lead who was recently added to the group during the making of this album
