- Both national dirt late model series have a new rule against tire prep coming out of races at Volusia Speedway Park and East Bay Raceway Park!
Johnathan, could you please visit both your brothers house, and help them with microphone gain/volume.
Thank goodness for this video I kept wondering why people said no Lucas for these guys too.
I saw Ricky Brooks at the World series of Asphalt Racing, sniff tires after cars came back from qualifiing. I mentioned to a fellow next to me "do you think he can find tire softener like that"? And the guy said "he just DQed the fast qualifier in street stock".
Thanks i have huge respect for you guys using common sense with making rules, not just throwing them out there.
Pretty cool information Fellas.
Cody Mallory crew chief for Garrett Smith was the culprit. Team was sent home for the rest of the week!!
That’s what I heard as well wish I knew more because in order to get them sent home and a rule made it had to be some grade a entrainment
I complained about the low volume last week.
Not surprised. They like to trash the pits wherever they go too instead of walking stuff 20 feet to throw it away.
Imagine that
ty for the news on tires
Heat altering tires all you got to do is leave them in the race car hauler bay in a stacker especially during the summer
This podcast is awesome
9:55 our local track had one and I had buddies involved in teching the cars and we played with it one night during a rain delay using some kart tires that was in a buddies trailer because they also used the trailer for kart racing and to say it was inconsistent and would give unreliable readings and delayed readings even when used correctly is a understatement
Asphalt super late model guys do this to harden the compound of the tire, they will go out do 5 laps get the tires hot then soak them in ice baths to shock the tire and in turn hardening the compound. Helps to stop blistering and abnormal tire wear
Well if you know the compounds (oils, materials) the tire is made from you can prep with those and its not gonna show
Infrared temp gun in the lineup area before going out on track....a few officials helping to line up the field on the pre-race grid and anything over a few degrees above ambient then there is course for further action
SOMEBODY PISSED IN SOMEONES CORN FLAKES!!!🏆
They have been ice bathing tires before qualifying and also using dry ice inside the tire.
I have seen on a multiple day show at one track where a team will take tires off track property to wash and clean and returned with those tires
When y'all are grinding tires does that also add Heat
Not really just gets rid of rounded off edges and exposes good rubber
People will get relayed out halulers to put auto heaters right above the tire station now if they go like that. They cant tell ya what kinda of hauler to use. I whoudnt doubt seing somone new stackers next year.
"I ain't got no text" lol 😜
I still want a few tires from each production batch submitted by Hoosier for lab testing. I guarantee there will be big differences.
These ain't Goodyears!
@@KimiWallrus AT this point, they are probably worse.
@@MX304 As a former long time emploee of Goodyear Racing It saddens me to agree with you
Call it the Cody rule
I thought they already took tire samples and tire soaking has been illegal
I did that for years
Well put your tires in freezer to get cooled that takes longer to heat up I always heat mine with the exhaust on right side
I see that Tanner Engish is commenting to HTF series. And as of now just HTF. Might see someone as you enter the track with a heat sensor gun. They work pretty fast
So the most important thing is starting position in feature right? If i was going to cheat im soaking my qualifier tires. I can do that away and begore going to track. I think the only samples taken are after the feature. Right? Need to be looking at qualifier tires
Fast time is usually sampled as well
Can u still use baby powder, when grooving tires???
I foresee that in the not too distant future, Hoosier brings the tires for the race to the track, and teams are required to buy them at the track. They are molded and marked with a date stamp. It will be like NASCAR. I know that doesn't remedy the policing of tire washing and heating/cooling, but WOO and Lucas just hires a dedicated tire police to wander the pits all night to enforce this rule.
Wonder if it was Bobby pierce now that brought this on
Yes, they cannot search anything you have, however, they can just disqualify you if you don’t allow them to search, so it’s like a DUI, blow or get your license suspended for the same time!
This tire doping thing is a prime example to the fact you can't save a racer money. I have heard this argument for years from track promoters and series owner we came up with this rule to save the racer money. This a laughing matter 🤣 because if a racer has money to spend he or she will find a place to spend it.
After you have been around rules and people, you often find rules that make no sense by their self and
have serious unthought about consequences.....Like a rule that said you can't take a tire out of your pit area,,,,,,,boy will That foster a fire storm of exceptions....
You clearly have no idea what you can with tires to make them last longer or go faster
Im an LE k9 trainer. Think of how good and neurotic our dogs are about finding explosives or narcotics (Continually outperforming ANY technology)...that barely holds up in court
new business venture, tire sniffing dogs !!
the way its going driver in the next few years wont even be aloud to have their own tires, the series will have hoosier bring them to each race and everyone will be running the same tire like goodyear does with nascar
So technically you can’t groove a tire or grind a tire when the night has started that is considered heat altering the tire??
Raced some 4cyl stuff years ago and the tech guy said we COULD NOT GROOVE OR SIPE TIRES!! 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
According to Justin on dirtraker they were there racing Monday and Tuesday and then disappeared after that
Yeah it was Garrett Smith I believe
Can we put hand warms on our tires 😂
For years, somebody always soakes Their tires.scuffed or used. Yett the compound used never penetrates entire rubber, but just the surface, it only last for a few laps
If your not cheating your not winning 😂
Won't be long and they will be marking and impounding tires like the asphalt series do.
Racing for that kinda of coin I would think that wouldn’t be a bad thing…
I mean.. I even’s the playing field..
Considering you have to grind and work tires all night long and it’s unavoidable only way that would work is to allow them to bring enough sets of tires to run a different set every time they’re on the track
@@54racemanthey only way they can possibly avoid the nightmare that is go kart racing’s tire situation is to get aggressive with their policies. Impounding is the easiest.
Advice and opinion.... out of respect for HTF I will not share any information on products used or how too's.......... I'm a prep engineer - I make Walter White look like a 3 year old playing with a ( for ages 5 and under ) Chemistry set.... eveytime i see one of these ( Tire rules ) Take place - I make money.... I own stock with Continental Tire so i make money either way.... I honestly believe these rules go into place to help hoosier make money.... I make serval lines of prep ( inside prep / outside prep ) Prep you roll into a tire - prep you lay and forget - Prep is not always about make a tire bite - alot of times its about making a tire last - It can be about waking up a used tire and getting a few more laps..... i got 5 main lines - Conditioner / Aggressive / Super aggressive - fast roll - slow roll.... The way these rules are laid out, there is nothing stopping me from showing up with a trailer full of tires prepreped and ready to go - new tires used tire .. All you gotta do is hand me the cash..... I got my morals - I never knowingly sold to a person who raced in a series that had a standing ban on tire preping... most my stuff goes to flat kart dirt races and / or drag racers.... i got prep that lites fast and hard for something like a heat race or dash - I got prep that lites off late for A features.... again, i have 5 main lines, but its all about how you work them with one another..... I can hide prep in my air tanks - I can hide prep in my compressor itself - i can hide it in oil containers..... You know why everyone knows the name of Billy the kid? Because he got caught.... I'm the one that gets away..... I'm the one that walks away - I'm the one that slips away into the shadows.... Rules like this blur the line between those who are men of honesty and men who can get away.... Ice baths is only a cheap attempt of getting the stagger / tire size you want ( It's not that effective ) Or at least it doesn't have a lasting effect - That tire is going to roll back out to It's natural size once it gets some heat in it - But there are situations where that may be what you want... heating now that - you can do all kinds of things with that - It's one of the ways I activate my prep... but it can also be used for something as simple as preheating a tire ( something that is gonna happen anyway ) - just trying to get it done earlier...... and for anyone hating- I promise this ( The day the tire companies roll out tires that are Consistent in size and shape and compound ) I will stop..... The facts are this - i can buy 3 ( 59s ) 3 ( 60s ) 3 ( 61s ) and mount them to matching wheels - not one will have matching roll out..... Your a budget series and rules like this force the teams to spend money they may not have at the race trailer..... at least with a open prep option you dont have to worry about whos cheating...
Must be Randy Ransom at ATTL chemicals.
@@jamietwigg4845 No sir.... I'm a independent.... all my prep is made from raw or base forum Abstracts.... the only thing I use that maybe counts as someone eslse product would be brake fluid and Atf and I'm not trying to Utilize the atf tself - I need some of the chemicals inside the Atf itself and the only way to get the Chemical I need in raw forum is to have a pesticide applicator license..... although I did use WCI-140 at one time - but at about 4k a drum I decided it's cheaper to brake down atf..
Lol k
Yeah, I'm gonna say your whole story is BS.
I've been in dirt oval karting in the southeast for a long time, you running an old ass junk Umax element just a year ago 😆
@jamietwigg4845 last year? yea your clearly not intelligent enough to follow simple dates..... so ya. But in all reality when ever did your opinion count for anyhing or to anyone that really mattered?
They should be able to prep the tires however they see fit. If it makes the competition any better so they have more grip then go for it. Oh it makes racing more cost efficient is complete BS. Racing has gotten too expensive so why not let them spend more on tires by prepping? What’s next your not gonna be able to put 100 pounds in them and put in a deep freeze to get the stagger you want? Or you’re not allowed to have different springs on each corner of the car? There’s a reason why NASCAR is a dying form of racing, it’s over regulated and no more gray areas. Low budget teams will never compete with the big budget teams tire rule or no tire rules.
In my opinion Dirt Late Model Racing is going to rule themselves rite out of business.. They need to go back to a weight rule and the droop rule. And run what you brung and hope you brought enough.
Uno
Race haulers could mean your motor home but i believe suspicion alone is not enough. They have to have probable cause to search. Bottom line be honest
They aren’t pressing criminal charges, so there’s no burden of proof. They can search a race car and an engine already. It’s a private company running a race on a private track, so if the rules say they can search your RV and you refuse, they can just ban you and you aren’t allowed to race. Pretty simple to me.
@@H3110NU you have a point
No due process on procedure or policy items. Just on matters of law
Why is tire prep bad? Why not just open it up?
No difference in that and sanding tires. It modifies the tire.
It’s like the law, if you have sinus medicine and nail polish in your car or house, you have the precursors for meth, you’re busted!
Those guidelines are still kinda vagu and leave interpretation
will it really matter these big teams will find another way to cheat them up for their advantage.
