Beautiful! SouthWest is my FAVORITE airline! Those 'Sweet 'Taters' sure looked good and the new livery is Great as well (I'm sure glad they left a hint of that nice tan 'Sweet Potato' color scheme in there)! This company has the most polite flight crew and atmosphere I have ever experienced. At the same time they fly my favorite aircraft!
This is an absolutely fabulous takeoff video! I love the terminal buildings as well as the air traffic control towers in the background before it hits the runway! And the takeoff itself is quite awesome too! Great job on this video! It got above those clouds pretty quick!
I like the rolling takeoff - it looked like they stabilised the engines while actually lining up, before going straight to TOGA or D-TO, not seen that before but pretty cool!
It is such a fantastic moment when you switch from ground to air. It feels weird when you land because your feet are tingly. One time when I was going to Disney World, the plane went into a 75 Degree left turn ( In the air of course ). I thought we were flipping over. It was AWESOME! Man those pilots are something.
You gotta love southwest, they are a really good plane company, very nice video by the way absolutely fabulous takeoff it feels like i am right there in the plane!!!!
737-300. Gotta love those classics. Miss them!! My flights on WN STL-MDW-2009-737-300-N394SW MDW-STL-2009-737-700-N795SW STL-DAL-2010-737-200-N63SW DAL-STL-2010-737-700-N477WN STL-MCO-2015-737-800(heart Livery)-N8662F MCO-STL-2015-737-700-N478WN STL-MCO-2017-737-700-N957WN MCO-STL-2017-737-800-N8614M
This is one of 122 737 classics still left in their fleet! Pretty much most of their 3H4 fleet has blended winglets added in, but quite a few like the 3Q8 doesn't!
I want to be a pilot because flying looks so cool. It would be neat to be in the sky and fly. Good video by the way! I am going to Chicago with my aunt in October.
Flying swa in four weeks! Goin from midway to Los Angeles! It's bout four and half hour flight! Leave at 6 am! I live near Milwaukee so it about 2 hour drive to midway! Leaving house at 2 gotta get up at one! Soooo excited!!!!!!!!! However, layover in lax! Flying to San Francisco!
I'm flying American Airlines in two weeks from ohare to Nashville. Staying there a few days, then from Nashville to Charlotte. Then from Charlotte to St. Louis. Staying there a few days. Then from st.louis back to Chicago.
I love flying. I'm getting my license right now, and if you're like me, then you want to fly all the time. Not to just get from point A to point B, but to experience the actual flight/atmosphere itself. I know a lot of people that fly just to fly, and not actually to get somewhere. It's not just commercial aviation either. The majority of flights that occur every day are general aviation flights.
@TechCenter1000 I fly the -300 and -700 for Southwest. Its a modification done by a third party company. There are also winglet modifications for the -200, although rare.
They are beginning to accelerate the retirement of their 300 & 500 series aircraft. However they have over 150 -300 and just 23 -500 series aircraft. Their youngest -300 series aircraft aren't all that old, and they are being retrofitted with electronic flight decks to further match commonality with their huge number of -700 and small -800 sub-fleet. Whilst newer aircraft have a general shorter "lifespan", the older birds are much more durable and can be used for many, many years.
The Classics can be retrofited with winglets, and this one clearly was. The reason the Classic 737s didn't have winglets is because Boeing wasn't aware of their advantages back in the 80s. An airline can choose to retrofit their airplanes with winglets if they so want.
Yeah it just reduces drag like burlybearcan1 said, saves small increments of fuel each leg of a flight. Most planes didn't have them back then, but they design winglets for older planes like this one, so if the operator wants to purchase winglets for the planes, they can just add them on. An example would be Hawaiian Airlines. They fly a lot of 767's in their fleet and most of them didn't have winglets, but Hawaiian sent a large number of them in to have winglets installed on them.
i am leavin from chicago midway to los angeles next week thursday at 6 am. We have a layover in lax then we flyin to san francisco. got to get up really early since I live near Milwaukee.
In this case a 737-3H4 to which is the only type of classics to receive the retrofitted wingets. The others such as the 3YO, 3AA,, 3Q8, and 5H4's don't and will be the first bunches to retire as the newer 7H4's, and 8H4's arrive. Also ones in the 77XX series are former Airtran jets which are all in the 700 series mostly delivered in 2002-2008!
He's right. That is a -300. The NGs (-700/-800) have red flap tracks, and no engine pylon on the inboard wing. -300s do. And yes, the -900 has been flying for a while. 737 MAX comes around 2016, I believe. Great video btw.
It's a -300. That upward curve is a winglet. Most SW planes have them. You can tell it's a -300 by the pointed flap fairings and the extended engine pylon past the wing. Also the the -300 has vortex generators on the top of the wing, the -800 doesn't. :)
A few mistakes there. The name is Boeing, not Bowing, and it's a -300. Southwest does have -700s, but you can tell it's a Classic by looking at the pointed flap fairings and at the engine pylon, that extends further behind the trailing edge (back) of the wing. The Classic versions of the 737 can be retofited with winglets.
i was gonna say Portland or Seattle cause of the clouds and trees but portland doesnt have that many trees that close to it only across the river ..but i only passed by seattles airport once and they have alot of trees around it from what i remembered
def. a -300 or -400, the canoes are sharper and wing is shorter. also note the age showing on the wing surface itself. and yes you can put winglets on the classics.
Yes they do, thats definately a -300. Airlines have also put winglets on their -500s too but Southwest didn't, Continental did before they merged with United.
In three weeks I am going on delta airlines 757 to Atlanta and a delta 737-800 to Jamaica from Milwaukee. Atlanta is the layover. I was going to leave from Midway but Milwaukee had a better deal.
gotta love that pilot "thanks for choosing us here we go!" throttles up 5 seconds later
I loved how the pilot positioned himself onto the runway while powering up! (y)

Ikr
It's amazing how loud the trailing edge flap actuators are amongst the roaring CFM engines!
love the entrance to the runway sweet
You got to love those 737 classics (-300, -400, -500)
This is an absolutely fabulous takeoff video! I love the terminal buildings as well as the air traffic control towers in the background before it hits the runway! And the takeoff itself is quite awesome too! Great job on this video! It got above those clouds pretty quick!
I love the older 737s. I especially remember flying on -100 and -200s as a kid. The engines on those were very loud! Workhorses of so many airlines.
I get anxiety flying , but I still wanna fly….so I love watching ur videos
I love the sound of the engine start up!
Love the 733 w/ winglets!
Im flying southwest in three days. Im departing from Love Field and arriving at BWI. Im soooo exited! Thanks southwest!
Have never taken southwest...man that takeoff looked smooth !
I like the rolling takeoff - it looked like they stabilised the engines while actually lining up, before going straight to TOGA or D-TO, not seen that before but pretty cool!
I don't know how to explain to you how amazing this video is. Great job dude, I felt like I was there!

Amazing video! You captured everything and it was just great!
the sound of a engine starting up on a areplane is cool !
thats a rare sight to see a continental jet and southwest jet parked next to each other
plane getting ready and taking off..total eargasm.
Oh Sea-Tac...home sweet home!
That was interesting to watch. Thanks for uploading. Pretty at early evening with the runway lights.
737-300. Gotta love those classics. Miss them!!

I am looking forward to taking Southwest next year.
So what?
Kevin Facey I’m going to Los Angeles in a few weeks after my camp and reading projects are done.
This Airfield is Reminded me of Top Gear
I loved when it emerged through the clouds.
Sweet video love it!
I love when the plane starts to go fast and your just like weeee!!
I'm flying from LA to Vegas next week, I'm excited to get on a plane again. I fly Southwest quite a lot too :)
Really great video!

they reverberate through the aircrafts superstructure, just like you can plug your ears and hear your voice through your jaw bones.

came here afta watchin wiz khalifa snoop dogg dat good. if you blazed you can relate lol. Great Vid by the way

What A Beautiful Sunrise!
I wish Southwest Airlines could rescue me from Nebraska and take me to a place I love going. Save me please LOL I love flying.
The Classics can be retrofited with winglets, and this one clearly was. The reason the Classic 737s didn't have winglets is because Boeing wasn't aware of their advantages back in the 80s. An airline can choose to retrofit their airplanes with winglets if they so want.
I'm flying southwest from California to indiana in 2 days. can't wait ^_^

that was a good video i am a southwest co pilot bravo
Great footage
it looks like i was in a plane i like it!

Coudy in the evening in las vegas going to the airport! My dream.
Кажется, что самолет начал разгон с крутого разворота!
wow the pilots know how to coordinate the throttles and turning in sync
Gotta love them 737s
VERY NICE VIDEO!!!
nice to see you were flying a 737 classic
First time i saw a southwest was at Newark.
I normally see northwest @ Amsterdam schiphol airport.
Flying to Missouri in 2 days! Can't wait. (I live in San Diego)
Well that escalated quickly =D
That's a 737-800. You can easily tell because the classics had a straight wing while the 800's wing curves upward.
A few mistakes there. The name is Boeing, not Bowing, and it's a -300. Southwest does have -700s, but you can tell it's a Classic by looking at the pointed flap fairings and at the engine pylon, that extends further behind the trailing edge (back) of the wing. I have been to SEA many times, This airport is Seattle Tacoma International for sure. You can see Puget Sound over there.
i was gonna say Portland or Seattle cause of the clouds and trees but portland doesnt have that many trees that close to it only across the river ..but i only passed by seattles airport once and they have alot of trees around it from what i remembered
that 737-300 had winglets? That's co cool! :D
road from KS. to Texas then to South Padre Island it was great!
Yea the flow stabilizers(for boundary layer) on the top of the wing and the transonic stabilizer shapes were the give away
Nice video my friend ! What airport wer're you flying out of ?
this is gonna be me in two months...flying Southwest out of New Hampshire to South Carolina. :D
def. a -300 or -400, the canoes are sharper and wing is shorter. also note the age showing on the wing surface itself. and yes you can put winglets on the classics.
and awesome planes as old a 1989! But the good thing is they are geting rid of them
Iam taking off in a airplane in 4 weeks in southwest airlines to gilbers Arizona it right out side of phones so happy to see my antey and uncle :-p
Yes it is. Recognize the satellites, the center concourse viewing area, and runway 34C, you can clearly see after takeoff.
Smooth take off.
i love the sound of 30,000 horses starting up 3:12
You have to contact the FAA and TSA 24 hours prior to takeoff and fill out an 'approval for video' form.
cool take off
Dennis
Its crazy like ten min you were on the ground and now your above the clouds.
I’m leaving tomorrow to Los Angeles boi. I’m really hyped about that.
Guys , the plane was going Seattle - Sacramento.
Yes they do, thats definately a -300. Airlines have also put winglets on their -500s too but Southwest didn't, Continental did before they merged with United.
It is SEA - Seattle Tacoma International because I have been to SEA many times before.
Unless they told you different, the 737-300 does NOT have winglets. Only the NG -700, -800, and -900s do
In three weeks I am going on delta airlines 757 to Atlanta and a delta 737-800 to Jamaica from Milwaukee. Atlanta is the layover. I was going to leave from Midway but Milwaukee had a better deal.
Em, the -900 has been flying for over a decade.
That definitely looks like Seattle-Tacoma International
Gotta love the sound of flaps!
Long taxi - thought you were going to drive there for a minute.
They're not so rare any more. Southwest has winglets on the majority of their 300 series fleet now I believe.
In 11 days I'm flying on Southwest Airlines to
Are you counting waiting time, or just time when the plane is moving? I've waited in Phoenix behind a long line of planes for 45 min
ah, I love Seattle-Tacoma airport:-)
I was sooooo scared when i first got on southwest y first plaine ride
